I have not posted in a few days--have been so busy at work and I feel guilty posting and not being able to look at condos. I have really missed reading about everyone's babies.

I was so sorry to hear the news about Tessie Lou today and will be lighting a candle tonight for her safe trip. This was such sad news, especially since it was so sudden, like Karrie's dear sweet Maverick.

Simon is doing ok but his ear allergies are really bothering him. The Zymox without steroid is not helping. I called the vet and I asked about an antihistimine. He said I should go ahead and try it although he doesn't feel real positive that it will help. He thinks that Simon's allergies are pretty bad and may have to have medicine with a steroid to really help. I am going away next week and I don't feel comfortable starting him on anything that will cause his bg to skyrocket right now. I will start it after I get back if the antihistimine doesn't help.

Question: Simon's vet recommended a 1/2 of a 4 mg. tablet of chlopheniramine (Chlor-Trimeton) 2x/day. Has anyone else used this antihistimine and does the dose sound right? Simon is a little over 14 pounds. I don't want to give him the tablet until I hear from some of you. Thanks for your help!

Re: 6/15 Georgia's Simon PMPS 94 Antihistimine question

I'll post in health if I don't get any answers here. Terrible storms going on now so I'll have to wait a little to post. Can't type well on this blackberry!

Re: 6/15 Georgia's Simon PMPS 94 Antihistimine question

I know someone has used it and reading the link Linda provided, it was Laurie. You can always send her a PM.

Re: 6/15 Georgia's Simon PMPS 94 Antihistimine question

Thanks, Linda and Sienne. Linda, the link was very helpful although I don't know how good this med will work for ear allergies. sounds like more for sniffles after reading the posts

I think its an antihistamine which should help reduce the allergy response wouldn't it? I have to read up on this for Henry. Can you let me know what you find out and I'll do the same?

Did you change his food before this? I know people on the IBD forum get a novelty food like a food from newzealand - duck I think. If its diabetes friendly maybe Simon would like it. Lots of types of allergies out there though.
