First yellow since 6/11! Cleo was on a roll :-D Let's see what +2 brings. We have our vetty appt this morning. Hope I can find/catch her easy when it is time to leave. And 3 pees next to the LB :? two poops in :-D Yesterday she had all pees in LB - makes me think she may feel anxious at times in LB area. It is the laundry room, only one door in and out, maybe she feels "trapped?" Wish I could figure it out. DH does not want LB in other rooms, but we may have to have a discussion about trying something else. Plus we will see what the vet says. Hope she can get a sample from her today.

Hope everyone has an excellent Caturday :-D Good luck today Liz. Healing vines to all kitties and beans in need!

Hi Jane,

Thanks for the post in Zeus' condo today  I hope Cleo brings you pretty blue numbers for your +2. Good luck with the vetty appt, hope they can get a sample to rule out an infection or something. Have a good day,

Kathie

Good luck at the vet today. I hope you can get some answers. Another lb may solve the problem.

OT - DH & I sitting at table eating dinner, when Civvie Opie comes flying through the opening in sliding door, with something large in his mouth. We jump up, DH runs and grabs Opie, who has a full grown bird flopping around in his mouth! DH is shaking Opie "Drop it, drop it," like he is the dog. I am yelling take them out!! I don't want an injured bird flopping/flying around the house. Finally he gets Opie to drop the bird, who is close to death :( and he takes it outside. No hope for the poor thing, was taking it's last breath. DH put bird in woods in back of house. Then we search the screened area, and sure enough, right near the bush, Opie had the bottom screen panel slit open along the ground. Evidence of feathers abound. Just don't understand how he caught the bird? And, pulled it in through that narrow slit?
Well, it is all taped up now, waiting for a real repair. And Opie is feeling so proud of himself.

Re: 6/15 Cleo PMPS 201;+2 179 (Bird Killer Opie)

Opie!!!!
I had to laugh because i have this mental picture of Opie, digging, digging, digging at the screen so he could............escape!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm only chuckling because of the picture of Opie escaping. I am sorry the bird didn't survive.
Have a good night and thank heavens for duct tape!
hugs and scritches from us

Re: 6/15 Cleo PMPS 201;+2 179 (Bird Killer Opie)

I agree with Mary, the pIcture of Opie escaping and then being so proud to bring home his prey to show you is funny... But sorry about the bird

Nice blue for Cleo tonight. I hope the blues continue. Have a good night, and thanks for visiting our condo today... We appreciate it.

Just barely yellow! Opie, you are so clever, and a bit of a rascal.  What did the vet say about Cleo? Thanks for the good wishes, the race was good! Me and Zener have had two naps today.

Re: 6/15 Cleo PMPS 201;+2 179 Vet Visit

Vet Visit (second try-much shorter)

Cleo was very good at vets. Dr. Green clipped some tarter off her teeth on right side of mouth. She lanced this large pea sized growth located inside base of Cleo's right ear, bottom of front flap. I found it yesterday and it had me worried. She said it was a cyst, had pus/blood/fluid come out. She said it may come back.

Cleo's bladder was not full enough for a sterile UA, they gave me plastic and gravel to put in LB to collect urine, but Missy Cleo did a big LB miss after we were home for awhile. I used the syringe to draw it up from the floor (real sterile,I know, but better than nothing). Brought it right to vet, and it was tested normal. She felt she may feel stress from Simon's silent stalking, and recommended trying a large storage bin with the cover on for privacy. We tried that right away. She stepped in, peed right out the entry, turned around and stepped in her own urine when exiting :o So, back to our favs, the LB's with the little feet so,if she misses, you don't have to clean the bottom of the box. I will not complain about her missing anymore (sure, Jane). I am glad she does not have a UTI. And I am happy that she feels good. She has her choice of 4 LB's to use, and we are buying stock in Brawny paper towels. And Simon has not been stalking her since I am giving him extra loving/attention :-D

Dr. Green was questioning why I was testing Cleo so much. I could tell she thought I was going overboard. I explained why, and how, and she asked some questions, and then seemed satisfied. She gave me some advice on what to feed when I had certain BG numbers, but I kind of tuned that out, since I knew I wouldn't follow it. She said that they have had some cats with normal kidney values come up high rather quickly after being on this high protein diet. She recommends a kidney function test at next visit.

She said that Cleo's heart murmur is a grade (stage) 1, which is mild, but that her HR was elevated: 204. They have a BP machine there, but it was out for repair today. So that also to be done at next visit. She also recommended a chest xray to see size of heart. Dental to be discussed after these tests.

She gave me a RX for the Lantus Pen. Cleo's weight was 9lb 4.5 oz, up 1.5 oz from 4/5/13. Dr. Green said Cleo didn't show any signs of arthritis in her hips, but xray would show more. Cleo's feet tested good for feeling. She did show muscle loss, but I told her she should have felt her at the 4/5 visit. That she is much improved now!

Well, that is all I can think of now. Any thoughts & opinion would be welcomed. Especially on the 204 heart rate. Thanks!!

Re: 6/15 Cleo PMPS 201;+2 179 Vet Visit

Thanks for the update, Jane. That all sounds good. I don't know about the heart rate. Could that be partial vetty stress? I guess you could test that at home, although I'm not sure where you feel a cats pulse.

I just listened to Cleo's heart and she still seems to be close to 200. Much faster sounding than Opie, aka birdy killer.

Sounds like a great vet report! I'd definitely try the Cat Attract litter and see if it helps.

Well.....your vet is and isn't right about kidney values and high protein diets. Kitties that eat a high protein diet may have an increased BUN but it doesn't affect the creatinine which is the number you would be most concerned about when looking at renal disease. Even with increased BUN, it isn't that elevated.
