Well shoot! I wrote a condo earlier but I guess I didn't remember to actually post it...OOPS!

Oh well!! China's having a great day and although she started out a little higher than I'd like this morning, has surfed in some pretty nice numbers the rest of the day so I'm happy!

Had a bit of a scary evening though. DM called and said she couldn't find Miss Kitty (her 14yr old constant companion). Since DM has only got 3 rooms in her apartment, a living room/kitchen, bathroom and bedroom, there's really not a lot of places for her to hide! Mom's door opens up into a hallway that even if Miss Kitty got out, she'd still be in the building (she'd have to get someone to open 2 doors to actually get out of the building) so I figured she had to be somewhere.

After China's PM shot, I went over there to help her find her and lo and behold, there she was, hiding behind the couch! I guess DM didn't think of looking there! Only thing I had to do was open a can of cat food and out she came....I think she'd found a good quiet spot to snooze and was taking full advantage of it.

The look of relief on mom's face was priceless. Miss Kitty is pretty much the only thing she has left of the life she used to have, so she's very important to mom. She wasn't able to deal with the 2 dogs she used to have (and because she spent so much time in the nursing home, it wasn't fair to keep them in boarding) but Miss Kitty stayed here with me until she was well enough to live independently. She gives mom a reason to get up in the morning, and a warm furry body to cuddle with, so I was really glad we found her!

Hope everyone is having a nice Monday and your kitties are feeling great!

well... i'll post.... even if this isn't your "real" condo....:p

glad miss kitty wasn't lost..... pets are so important for our well being..... wish they had a live in pet out at the nursing home.....
I take the droolers when I can.... cheer her up....

yeah, I totally agree that especially in nursing homes, having a pet (or two..or three) is really important. The nursing home mom was at had birds, and routinely had people bringing in dogs and cats for "visiting", but I think having a live in pet helps everyone.

My mom used to be the regional director for the nursing home district and while she was there, she brought in a concept called "The Eden Alternative" which is all about having as many living things around long term care patients as possible.....When she left and they hired a new director, they dropped it, which is really a shame for the people who lived with animals their entire lives and have already had their lives changed so much by being where they are.

I've seen tons of studies on how much having pets enhances and even prolongs the lives of seniors. Caring for someone/something else keeps their minds off their own issues and mortality. I'm so glad Miss Kitty was not really lost. I'm guessing she had no idea she was being searched for - probably slept through the whole crisis!

China, what can I say? You look beautiful, darling! Sorry Cinco hasn't been pulling his weight in the lagoon, but I hope to have him back on the job soon.

My friend has a farm animal rescue sanctuary and she takes all sorts of critters visiting at various nursing homes. The people there absolutely light up. Probably not quite as much as your mom did when Miss Kitty was found though!

China you are looking gorgeous

Maybe not for long kitty, I been hearing some rumours - Meg...
