Zener is very happy his mamaLizbean is home! :-D Tillie is also very happy, but she is the Queen so displays must be proper. :roll: Poor Liz started getting sick on the plane ride home and it sure is acting like a GI flu. At first we thought it might be food poisoning, but she has fever and body aches more like a flu. There will be much playing of tent and lying around today, which Zener will LOVE!

@Michelle & Mannie - it had been quite awhile since a Zener slide and such lovely colors. His mamaLizbean was very pleased. Now, she feels like, and I quote, "someone beat me all over with a stick." :YMSIGH:

I'll keep on with morning duty until Liz feels better. I went btb this morning and after seeing the pop up @1.5, went btb again - for 2 hours! :shock: Fortunately, the big guy is coming down in a reasonable fashion. I got a little behind on his mini meals so will try to catch up before mid-cycle.

All will be very low key here today! Happy Fursday to everyone.

Hi Anne, looks like Zener is coming down nicely, not too fast though, Zener! Welcome home Liz, but sorry she is sick. I hope it's not a flu virus. Sending feel better vines to Liz.

Zener is showing some very nice numbers for mombean Liz's homecoming. Amazing what a drop or two extra will do.

So sorry Liz is sick, nothing worse than feeling sick and having GI issues on an airplane. I whatever she has she gets over very quickly. It'll be a good time for the kitties to spend some quality time with her.

Wow Zener! You are quite the rainbow kitty but headed in the right direction. Why don't you hang out there for awhile and have a nice little surf in the green lagoon? Great to hear mama Liz got home and everybody is together again. Healing vines you feel better quick Liz! We call it "traveler's tummy" in our house and DH gets it every single time.

Thanks for all the good wishes Ann & Maggie, Wendy and Melissa & Mr T. We just got back from the people vet's office. Liz kept feeling worse as the morning went on and her fever was over 100, cramps, body aches, diarrhea and you get the picture. I felt like the onset was sudden and the symptoms were getting worse, plus Liz started feeling bad on the plane (chills & body aches) about 2 hours after eating a chicken salad in the Louisville airport. I was concerned she might have a bacterial infection from the chicken. So, at noon I called the doc and he had us come right over. Her fever was 103, and he was also suspicious of food poisoning. We got the choice of antibiotic injection right then and another one in the morning, with antibiotic pills, pedialyte and working on staying hydrated or going to the hospital. We opted for the treatment he suggested and coming home - also had to stop at the lab for blood work and all that jazz too.

Liz was feeling better by the time we got home and wanted to eat some chicken soup, so that's a good sign. We have paws crossed she keeps improving and we don't end up in the ER later. Our doc is working there for a couple of shifts so if we have to, we'll go to the ER and he can admit her. So, now I'm working on Liz and Zener's appy! :roll:

Good news - the boy is giving us a lovely green surf this afternoon. :mrgreen:

Hi Anne, thanks for the update on Liz. Sending many healing vines. Two years ago I had something similar happen when I flew back east for a visit; it was also a sandwich from the airport. No fun at all. Feel better Liz and hope both Zener and Liz's appy improves. Hugs

Anne, I'm sorry Liz is so sick. Sending lots of healing vines, and a prayer or two.
I hope Zener stays in nice healing numbers, but not so low, that you have to tend to him also.

Of course... :shock: :mrgreen: :o It's going to be one of THOSE days.

He hovered in the low 50s, so was testing every 15 minutes without feeding, then at +12 got a 49. So, I've given him 1/2PP and his evening meds and will test again in 15 minutes. Will do the 1-2 tsp of food and keep testing until we feel safe to shoot. The lowest we've shot is low 60s. I've added a pinch of cypro to his evening meds as his appy is not great tonight and I don't want to shoot a low number if he isn't eating.

66 @ ~12.6, did not feed this number and will stall for another 15-20 minutes to see how much of this is food influenced before shooting. nailbite_smile

From your SS you shot a 69 on 5/24/12, & he was ok..But please do what makes you feel comfortable and safe. What a great day for Zener, he did very well..

Wow!! Zener sure is on a mission today and keeping you very busy. So sorry to hear that Liz is not well after her trip. I hope it isn't anything too bad and hope she will be feeling better tomorrow.

@Roni - there is just a little too much drama for my liking tonight - with Liz feeling bad and Zener low greens and poor appy, sheez! Fortunately the itty bitty tiny flake of the appy stimulant kicked in and he ate a decent amount for shot time. Thanks for the reminder about shotting the 69 on 5/24. I see we had the same on 5/24 and 5/19 when we went down to f1.25 from 1.5 before. Since he is eating now, I felt okay shooting the 68. Will get another test shortly. Than you!

I must have missed several of you while I was typing. We go back to the doc tomorrow for another injection of antibiotics. Right now Liz is feeling pretty miserable.

So, this is Zener's 1st time below 50 back at the 1.5u dose. Since he is a long term diabetic, we won't reduce yet. Will get more tests through the evening and at the same time, make sure Liz is drinking enough. Could be a wild evening.

Hi, everybody, Anne is doing great managing everything. She thought she'd get a break when I got home but instead got more work. :roll: It's going to be more than 24 hrs, apparently. Too bad I'm not due for a colonoscopy, there wouldnt be much prep. Sorry - TMI! :lol: :lol:

Had to phone the doc on call tonight (shortly after giving Zener his insulin) as Liz's fever was spiking back up again (it was 103 at the doc's office) and she was having chills and generally feeling miserable. I was a little worried we might be going to the ER to get admitted to the hospital for fluids and IV antibiotics. I pumped 800mg ibuprofen in her and by the time the on call doc got back to us (about an hour later), her fever was breaking and on the way down. She managed to eat a bit and drink fluids pretty good and finally fell into a pretty restful sleep. We go back to the doc in the morning for another injection of ABs and hopefully things will be on the upswing. I am not looking forward to another night like this one, that's for sure!

Looking like she got food poisoning from bad chicken in the Louisville airport - doc thinks it is likely e coli but could be another two or three bacteria he mentioned that I'm forgetting. The two ABs she is on (one is an injectable, the other oral) cover all the major bugs for this sort of thing. All the beans and kitties are napping together on the couch and living room rug and we just may sleep there all night.

I'm sure I missed responding to each of you individually, I'll do better tomorrow! Thanks to everyone for stopping by to support us with Zener and to send healing vines to Liz. Ni ni LL. I-) cat_pet_icon I-)
 
Hope Liz gets better soon! Better be careful, we are hearing a lot from the news report in HK too. No, no, not about Liz 's fever :lol: but about food poisoning in the US with unknown origin.

WOW! Everything at once last night! I hope the ABs make Liz feel better soon. and that Zenner gives you a break today. Does her get a reduction for those 40s?
