breakfast eaten, clean plate club membership intact, shot done without a flinch and punkin's now lying belly up in case any little tummy scritches come his way. back to sleep already - it's a hard life! :lol:

tomorrow punkin is scheduled for his evaluation and possible surgery, depending on what the veterinary dentist finds. i've been trying to pry open his little jaws to see the site but he won't have any of it. so they'll look at him and if his gum is still inflamed, knock him out, x-ray to see if there are root fragments left or exposed bone, decide if the upper tooth is hitting the lower gum where the teeth were removed, and if so shorten the upper tooth. of course, i'm hoping that they'll look at him and say he's fine now.

now I wish i'd gotten a +5 last night. wondering if his nadir has slid later in the cycle.

Good morning Julie & Punkin! Give him a belly scritch from us! I love it when they lay like that.

Hopefully the appt tomorrow goes well and they say he is perfect.

A tough life indeed! :lol:

Hope tomorrow goes well for you and Punkin and I'll keep my fingers crossed that surgery won't be necessary

Love that Punkin is totally prepared for random belly scritches!! :lol: :lol: :lol: Fingers and paws crossed for all to go well at the vetty tomorrow! Hopefully no intervention will be needed! Until then, Happy Tuesday!!!

I was just thinking about Punkin's tooth situation this morning! I hope he gets the all-clear from the specialist tomorrow, but it's great that you're taking him in to be absolutely sure all is well there.

Send him a few belly scritches from me :-D !

Ohhh Julie -
holding you both close in thought for tomorrow. FWIW - don't forget to mention the bit about "intubation" if that is their plan during surgery. If they can use about a 1/2 size smaller tube it may be in Punkin's favor. I'm not sure if Punkin is having any airway difficulties at this time - does he snore at all? - like to lay on his side alot? - but particularly if you notice these - the vet should consider using a smaller tube - Punkin may not have any difficulties at all! But some of our acrocats have been known to have trouble with being tubed so it's something to consider. There is always risk of some airway swelling after having an airway tube and if he already has some increased tissue growth in there - add in some swelling and it could lead to some trouble.

I'm sorry as I don't mean to scare you - more just to give you info so you can be prepared.

thanks patti - i did read that in your post on acromegaly, but appreciate the reminder. yes, he has the "respiratory stridor" that i've read about. i hear him breathing & snoring quite a lot. he snorts & sneezes here and there too. I'll mention that about the tube.

little bugger. at the moment i see him sitting on my quilt project. cats always know the "best" place to park themselves!

i take him in at 8:30 for the exam. supposed to give him the usual routine in the morning and if he needs anything done they'll hold him to the afternoon to do surgery.

I'm late getting to condos, but I have to wish you and Punkin well at the vet's tomorrow. Hopefully, it's a nonissue and he doesn't need much done!!! Good luck!!

HA! so he is sliding lower at night. when i saw this morning's amps i thought he might be.

so what now? 138 - not too low, but it's only +5 . . . i guess i'll stay up another hour and test him again, just to make sure he's ok. we gave him a whole can of FF at +3 instead of the usual 1/2 can, hoping that he wouldn't be so worked up in the morning and hard to test because he's hungry. i'm not going to feed this yet because of that.

as crummy as it is to stay up another hour... doing so will give you some good data.
since punkin has a functioning pancreas you could feed some hc to prevent him from going lower if you want to get to bed sooner than later.
