Crazy weather! Lower 50's this morning & windy. Gonna be the first day of summer soon o_O
Kitties are doing Ok. I am thinking the blood pressure meds are making Ravan feel listless. Not eating too good & just wants to sleep. Peggy Sue is still eating Ok but not gaining any weight.

Does anyone have any tricks for getting Matts out of Kitties fur? My Alice has short fur & has never had any matts but now her sides & armpits are matted? I have no idea why?

Hope you all have a Wonderful day! :joyful:

Poor Ravan, It's unfortunate how necessary medication can influence them, maybe sleep will be good for him. I hope Peggy Sue starts gaining weight soon, has her swelling gone down?

My experience with mats is that if they're really bad they usually need to be cut / shaved out by a vet in case the skin is really in there, if you can tell the skin isn't attached in the mat you can shave / cut it yourself. Before I get to that point I usually try to gently pry the mat apart, I typically have success with this when Nyx gets mats on her back (shes a little too overweight to clean that area) and she really seems to enjoy the feeling of having a mat pried apart :)

I hope you guys all have a great day too :D

Poor Ravan. You may want to ask about blood pressure meds in your subject line to get some input form those who have used them. I use scissors to cut bad mats out, but you have to be careful to not cut the skin. :bighug::bighug:

You're Lucky she doesn't mind! None of my cats enjoy me messing with their matted fur. I was wondering if putting cream rinse on it would help? And then rinsing it off in the tub.

I asked at Petco's grooming. They said they would use clippers ($40 plus tip !!) They also require a Rabies certificate. None of my cats get any shots for a long time now. I wouldn't pay that much anyway!

If it were me I would wait until Alice was dead asleep and slowly try picking it apart bit by bit :p The cream rinse might help but you would still probably have to pick it apart (the cream rinse might speed the process) AND you'll be introducing water to the mix :nailbiting: Nyx would rip me to shreds if I tried that!

My GOD! highway robbery!!! Is the mat connected to her skin do you think? would you feel comfortable taking clippers to her yourself?

Hi Joy. Sorry Ravan is sleepy. Maybe it takes time for them to adjust on the HBP Med .

I only have experience in long hair mats. I take the comb and take it through the mat Perpendicular to their body. Then I can get a little purchase on it and slowly start working in out in pieces. That seems to work better than trying to get the whole mat out in one piece. Hope that helps.

For mats, I also use scissors and cut the top part very carefully, then pull apart as much as I can and brush!
One of my kitties was on amlodipine; he was lethargic and didn't have any appetite but it was probably because he was at an advanced stage of CKD! Apparently there are very few side effects! Maybe Jamie could tell you, I think she's giving BP meds to Bella!

What dosage is the BP meds?

Hi Lizzie, Ravan is getting 1/4th tab of Amlodipine. I'm really frustrated that my vet, whom I really like ,thinks it's fine that his BP is over 170. The Tech that tests him is new and the first time she tested him she was reading the #'s wrong!
The last time he was checked ,2 weeks ago, she told me they had ordered a new BP machine. His average was 176. My vet said that was OK & recommended I bring him in, in 3 months! I know my Ravan & since he's been on this med he's just not himself.
Does anyone here use "Natural" meds to lower BP ? This is just not my Ravan since I started with the BP meds!

How is the laptop working?

The Laptop is working great!! I had to hook it up to my "BIG" screen monitor, I'm getting cataracts & even with glasses I don't see too good !

1x/day? If so, that was what Gizmo was on. Considering there could be some "vet stress" with the readings I would hesitate to alter the dosing. My vet(s) took 3-4 readings and then used the average.

I know my Ravan & since he's been on tis med he's just not himself.
My hubby is on Amlodipine. He will feel great (normal?) If he misses a dose for one day, the next day he feels very crappy and has heart flutters so double edge sword . High BP is very hard on the kidneys.

Fantastic. You had asked why we didn't put Win10 on it and I don't think I ever answered-the laptop was purchased with Win7 so it has a legal license. If we had put Win10 is wouldn't be legal. Another reason was Win10 is quite different and has a bit of a learning curve to it. Especially for non-techies. I didn't want to throw too many changes at you :D:p
