To quote Ella, Trix has been quite the glutton the last day or so! Especially last night....boy did she go to town every time I brought her a plate of food. What wonderful sight!
Her first round of fuds always seems to be the slowest...I'm not sure if its because she needs her next dose of Pepcid to kick in or if she needs the pump primed with a syringe, but usually about an hour after both the pills and the syringe, she is ready to rock-n-roll....fingers crossed, anti-jinx. I still have to present the plate, but if she eats like this, I don't care - I will hold the plate whenever and where ever!
If she keeps on this trend through the weekend, I will start attempting to reduce her Pepcid a bit on Monday. She's still on 5mg BID which I know is high. I think this time I will taper her more slowly...switch to 5mg morning/2.5mg evening. If she does OK with that for a week, I'll take the morning down to 2.5mg as well. I do not want her backsliding again.
She's also still on cerenia every other day, and I'm going to keep going with that and reevaluate again if the Pepcid reduction holds. I don't want to change too much at once.
@Tricia - I have weighed her a few times at home, and I actually did weigh her yesterday. She did lose well over a pound during this pancreatitis attack - probably close to 1.75lb. Fortunately she was a bit "fluffy" and had it to spare - but that was also her safety net, so now I'm working on regaining it. When I weighed her yesterday, she was the same weight she was at the vetty's office a couple weeks ago, and of course I don't know if our scales are slightly different. But, that implies to me that she's at least stable now. Visually, I do think she probably had dropped a bit more from the last vetty weigh in and I'm pretty sure she has actually gained a bit since I started assist feeding last week - she looks a little "curvier" now. I'll try to stick with weekly weigh ins now that she's eating more steadily.
@Elise - I never did write for Young Again samples. As much as she likes to steal an occasional kibble, she actually doesn't seem all that enthralled with any that I've offered other than nibbling on a few of them. So, I'm not sure if the YA would be any different. I attempted ONE time to crush up kibbles and sprinkle them on her food...that was a total disaster. NO ONE would have anything to do with that plate of food   !
Time to squeeze in more foods and the morning workout. Have a great day, LL!
