Not linking my last post bcuz it was several days ago and many things going on. Spreadsheet is updated.

So, seeing some pinks. Taffy got into Baby's kibbles twice in the past couple of days and he has not done this in a while. Explains some higher numbers and, as well, Taffy has been a bit constipated, not terribly, but I recognize when he is having an issue (small hard poopies and extra grooming). So I gave him some lactulose a few days ago and overdid it, I guess, because then he had very stinky soft pudding poops and this was very upsetting to him (and me) and required several clean-up sessions, including a butt/tail bath in the sink, where he bit me hard on the shoulder to show me how much he hated this. So we did not give more lactulose and I did give some S. Boulardii to help normalize and feeding plain meals to get his tummy back on track. He still needs to go #2, so I gave a little Miralax this morning. His appy remains normal.

I am remaining on current dose until I see the constipation normalizing, at least. And, the kibbles need to get out of his system. The higher AM preshot numbers are due to early morning snacks that he is demanding, and they are too close to shot time, but I cannot deter him. I think I need to start using the auto feeder again.

Poor Taffy. I hope his poo becomes normal soon. Can you give him freeze-dried treats for an early morning snack? That shouldn't raise his BG. Sending prayers.

Here is your last post:

I used the FD as snacks early on, but sort of discontinued bcuz they seemed to contribute to his tendency to be constipated, even though I would rehydrate. The snacks I give are either small portion of his regular raw or Fancy Feast. I think if I start using the feeder again for a couple middle of night snacks, maybe he will not wake me at 5:30am.

Hope the carb raid passes soon and that his GI gets back to normal.

I had to do what I call a "poopectomy " this AM. Saw something brown hanging , though it was a leaf, nope poop that is still 1/2 inside of him. Bubba wasn't too keen on me "helping " him either. What's up with these cats when we are just trying to help????

Aw, poor Bubba, Poor Mama!
Tafyy seems to go along just fine for a while and then he will get sluggish, I think he has poor gut motility. Lactulose has helped dislodge the backups in the past, but I think I gave too much this time and upset his system. I got to hear my first kitty fart, though, so that was fun!

that is why they vomit a lot.
LOL, Bubba burps!!! Yea, I forgot mention that last night, I stuck my own finger with the insulin syringe and hit a blood vessel. Had to start all over with a new syringe. And, it hurt like a mofo!!! And, then Baby Kitty vomited up his dinner. On the tile, though, so that was thoughtful. I swear that is all I do is manage the cats. Good thing they are so darned cute!

So, Taffy hopped down from his sleeping perch a while ago and I knew that was telling me something, so I grabbed him for a test...77!!! Regular LC snack and he headed to the litterbox and plunked out a couple of good-sized poopies! He must feel great! I'll test him again in about 15 min to see if he is still dropping.

Good catch with the 77. It is amazing what GI issues will do to the numbers.

That's all I do too is take care of cats, dogs, and a Mom with Alzheimer's

And thoughtful to vomit on the tile, Baby

Surf it Taffy! Maybe a tsp. LC food to help him surf some. This is the 7th cycle from his last green.

And we are officially in a free fall...57 @ +6

Gave more LC with some gravy on top. He had LC after the 77, so I am adding a little gravy.

Sure seems like several of us also have someone with some dementia in our care. It is very energy consuming. My heart goes out to anyone who deals with this.

I am not my friend's family, so I have no real authority and I don't live with her. I have a break this and last week, as my 81-yr-old's son is in town and staying with her. He is not the brightest guy, though, and I fear he may also have a drinking problem, but he is staying at her home, so I am not going over every day as usual. I have urged him to arrange a caregiver before he leaves, as her condition has progressed. I fear that he will fail to do so (he failed last year) and I will again be the main support.

I have to be away on Thursday from Taffy, and I need to leave about two hours earlier than his normal shot time and won't be around for a +2 or +5,6...contemplating a skip? He is so unpredictable.

Here's hoping Taffy surfs the rest of the cycle!

Bubba burps!
My little female Bengal farts all the time - stinky stinky STINKY farts! Mt Maine Coon farted once and scared himself, lol, that was really funny. My male Bengal burps every morning, I guess because his tummy is empty.

I'm another who feels like all I do is run around managing kitty things, lol! :):):)

surfs a little higher for you
He surfed, but he stayed in low numbers...57 to 54 to 59 btwn +6 to +9.25
Gave small snacks, used a little gravy, but not much. Left him with another snack and stepped out for about and hour and a half and he was up to 77 at +10.75
Checked him again 20 minutes after that and he had shot up to 97, so I fed him dinner and did his shot a half hour early. But this was perfect bcuz I wanted to move things up today and tomorrow in prep for my earlier day on Thursday. That way I can give him a shot before I go, but it will depend on his PS on Thurs morn if I shoot or skip. I will be gone 9+ hours.
But i do have a feeling he is going to bounce to the moon tonight...(now he won't, just to prove me wrong)
