Sorry...haven't had time for daily condo's, or even to read and catch up on posts. But the other night I did do major updates to Hobo's Guide to Nutritional Values in Cat Foods. Yea!

Pumbaa and work and life have been keeping me hopping! Pumbaa, especially, with his dives during the PM cycles, and with his back to being his normal, juvenile delinquent self! His night-time avoidance of getting tested, which causes me to chase him all over the house and try many ways of getting him out from under beds/futons/out of the litter box, etc., should make me appreciate the cardio exercise, no? *LOL* Below photo is Pumbaa in the box for my new office chair this afternoon. He must have climbed onto my stereo/music shelving to get in here, because there is no way he jumped in here from the ground!

Now that I have noticed another pattern, I'm sure he's going to change his dance. The pattern I noticed was that he would be dropping down in the blues and greens every other night, followed by a night cycle where he was still high and I could get some sleep.

I've been trying BJM's recommendation of giving Pumbaa an appetizer after I test him, and then feeding and shooting 15-20 minutes later, so that his body already has some calories to work on before getting his insulin, to try and slow down his dives, and hopefully also diminish the bounces. We shall see if this helps, as I started this practice just when his shed should have been emptying from the 2.25U dose to the 2.0U dose.

I've also added the %Kcal Protein/Fat/Carb values to his SS, in the "Foods" column, so that I can easily refer to the values of what he was fed and try to find a correlation to his BG levels. While FF Classics seem to have less carbs, overall (per Binkies list, which is not as current as I would like), Friskies Pate's are much more affordable and my cats have been eating Friskies for years, and they love them. I especially need to feed Friskies Pate's at night, when Pumbaa seems to dive more regularly (unless I am working nights, in which case he is contrary and dives during the day when I should be sleeping). Hahahahaha!

Oh, Pumbaa is now also trying to avoid injection time. I've had to add a little sprinkle of parmesan to his food at injection time to try and distract him more and more lately. He's a smart little guy, that is for sure! He was so much more pliable when he wasn't feeling as great/feisty as he does now! *LOL* But, I like him feeling better, even if it's harder on me.

Hope to catch up with all of the FDMB posts I've missed one of these days!

We just figured your internet was out, and with that dry erase board you'd get us caught up when you could.

Pumbaa is looking really healthy and sleek (demonic as ever) at least he's enjoing life. His dilute chocolate(?) coloring is gorgeous. He looks more gray in the other pics. Looks like you're ripped his one ear to shreds?

Glad y'all are still doing good. His surf pattern must be agreeing with him even if it keeps you hopping every other night. A few more kitties may be all you need because they get to the point where they entertain themselves.

BTW the Hobo's guide is looking good, thanks for that.

Chippendale's:

You crack me up! Thank you for that! :)

Pumbaa is gray and white, and his eyes are a beautiful green. He's just not very photogenic. But he is very sleek/muscular now, and his coat is very shiny! So far I haven't ripped one of his ears to shreds, even though he thinks that I have. *LOL* It's funny but his right ear bleeds much more than his left, so I try to test his left more often and just take the least amount of blood necessary.

No more animules! *LOL* Not when I also take care of my mom's two cats! Insanity reigns here, especially with the border collie!

You are so welcome for Hobo's guide. And I thank everyone who has contacted food manufacturer's and have been an active part of updating this information, as it helps all of us!

Time to go nap on the couch before taking a +6 reading, as Pumbaa is in dropping mode, and was at 190 at +3.

How is your Max Chip doing? I haven't had time to review SS's lately. :(

So a more typical dilute black (blue) but he does look unusual and striking, if not somewhat demonic. That's a cute picture in the box, but his does his one ear look funny? ohmygod_smile

Max is great, thanks for asking. And to make things even more confusing Chippendale's Max is a spitting image of Chip but without the tabby. They could be brothers, and Chip did have a littermate identical to Max. All that is meaningless without a pic of Max. Have to see what I can do. ;-)

As for Chip, no bad news is good news? BJM started a thread for Chip don't miss it.!

Chip is gorgeous! Just saw that jungle-kitty photo in your other thread. He sure looks healthy, so you're doing something right. :) You should do a profile page of Chip and add photos of all of your kitties!

I don't know why Pumbaa's ear looked so funny in that photo. Maybe it got turned backwards during his dive into the box?

Actually that was before he started Lantus. If only we could go back now. :-|

Wonder if we can go back now? That might be next.

Give Lantus a chance. After more people who have used both commented about Lantus and Levemir, I'm not convinced that Pumbaa would bounce less on Levemir, and the difference in the onset would cause me more sleeplessness than I'm getting now...unless the Levemir really evened out Pumbaa's bounces, which there is no guarantee it will. What a conundrum!

Love that photo...Chip is a very handsome boy! At least he doesn't always look evil like my little Pumbaa does! *LOL*

Who said Pumbba looks evil?! He looks like a cute little baby to me!
I think it's the way his green eyes turn red in some pictures. And the camera captures his mischief.

He's like a masked avenger or a caped crusader.

No way can the camera capture this little guy's mischief! I'd have to be video-taping him 24/7! *LOL*

I think he looks like Batman in your avatar.

I wonder if that makes you Catwoman?
