6/13 China PMPS 330,+2 331, +4.5 339. +6.5 245

Well my laptop died last night so I've been scrambling this morning to figure out what to do. I could live without Facebook if I HAD to, but I need to keep in touch with all you wonderful folks!

Thank goodness for rent-to-own places! Dropped the "dead" laptop off at my son's house and for $24, have access....so he has 1 week to fix the dead one!

China has been serenading me today in her very distinct siamese voice....she's not usually very vocal, but every once in awhile breaks out in "song"...lol

Sure hope todays numbers make some sense!! Yesterday's sure didn't!!

AMPS 325, +2.5,147, +6.5, 147, PMPS 330. +2. 331.....IF I can stay awake another night, should I test more or less often? And any suggestions for tomorrow???

Hi Chris. Sometimes only the kittie knows what's going on. At least her AMPS is a low pink so there should be a color change happening.

Hi Chris, that's too funny that your son has one week! Lucky you that he can fix it. Looks like China is bouncing when she hits the blues. Now she's coming back down today. Did you get a test last night?

Just the PMPS Anne...Our shot times are 11am and 11pm....and then around 1:30am the computer bit the dust. I played with it for awhile trying to get it to work, and just lost track of time. I should have set my cell phone alarm

Chris, it looks like China is breaking that bounce fast. I think this is going to be an active cycle where you are going to have to test a little more often. A +3.5 or a +4 would be a good idea. I hope you have some high carb food around, just in case.

Good luck to your son on getting the laptop fixed. Those are a little harder to fix than the old desktops.

I sure wish China would whisper to me what's going on.

She's eating well. She gets her biggest meals at shot times, but gets little meals throughout the day except food is taken up for everyone 2hrs prior to shot tests.

Any suggestions on when to test again?

Does anyone have any suggestions for tomorrow's test schedule? The double 147 really confused me but we didn't go into the upper 300s-500s today so I hope we're making some progress!

That's a pretty good cycle today. I like those blues. The double 147 looks like the two sides of the nadir (lowest point). I should draw a graph to show what I mean. Oh well. Be sure to get a before bed test at night. I like to get a +2. If that's dropped from the PS, get more tests to see what's happening. If it's about the same or higher, you can test less.

I think I understand it...sometime between the +2.5 and the +6.5 was probably a lower number that would be her nadir..where the insulin has worked as well as it's going to, right? (at least for today's cycle)

Sienne and I are big fans of getting a +2 test every cycle that you can.

When the +2 is much more than the preshot, it's likely to be a quiet cycle.
If it is the same or similar to the PS, you should expect a normal, active Lantus cycle.
If it is much less than the PS, you should expect a very active cycle.

Yes...you are correct...the nadir was likely lower and somewhere in between those numbers or it could have also been 147

Any time you get the lowest number you've shot, you should get a +1 and a +2. If its not a lower number, a +2 is a good place to start and then decide based on what the +2 is and the info I gave you above.

OK, on her PMPS she was 330 and at +2, she was at 331, so I guess we can expect a normal active cycle, but could you explain what you mean by Quiet Cycle, Normal/Active Cycle , and Very Active Cycle?

A quiet cycle means that not as much testing is required as kitty likely won't be going low. A very active cycle means you should test more frequently as China will likely go quite a bit lower. A normal/active cycle means a mid cycle test would be good. But if the cycle starts high like tonight, not so much to worry about. With the caveat that cats don't always follow the rules.
