We have lots of brands of freeze dried meats here. Tip for anyone who wants to save money. 100% freeze dried meats are cheaper per/ounce when they are marketed for dogs. So go in the dog aisle and grab a bag of freeze dried chicken. I split the pieces to make them smaller for the cats.

Baco is adorable.

Thanks so much! Baco is cute? Though, she IS a little diva! How is Tuck doing?
I like Diva female cats so I would like her :)

He is eating like a fiend! Hooray. I think he was developing an infection somewhere. 24 hours into the antibiotic and he was back to being himself. Depressed cats don't rebound that quickly. Glad I had meds on hand.

Almost time for Baco's party!!!

What a journey! There should be more humans like you who give kitties like Tuck a change!:bighug:
Yeahh 1 hour until her party!!!!:woot:

OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RUBY!!!! I'm SO thrilled for you both! You've worked hard to get here, and you've done it!!!!:otj::otj::otj::otj::otj::otj::otj::otj::otj::otj::otj::otj::otj:

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks soooo much! I'm so thrilled and still can't believe it. It's weird for me that I can sleep in now, and don't have to wake up to test, give food, shoot routine.... I feel like there something missing, I need to find a new obsesive hobby I think... Hahaha.
Well I still got one 'hobby' and that's getting her to lose the excess weight, but that will be a long trial I guess. She's not really coming down right now. I will have to cut her ration again I guess.... :banghead:

It is so wonderful!
Getting your cat to lose weight is another hurdle!
I managed to slim Rocky down from 7.8 kg to 6.2 kg in a long period of time.
He is refusing to lose more.
At the moment I really try to feed him as little as possible but if his BG drops too fast I give extra food.
As a general rule you can feed 2 - 3% of ideal weight so if Rocky's ideal weight would be 6 kg (he is a big cat) the 180 gr of wet food is his daily allowance.

Woow that's great @Marlena , that's a great weight loss for Rocky.
Well I can imagine that being on insulin and losing weight is a battle because they also need to eat to pump up there BG and to get things working on there own.
Baco's ideal weight would be 5 to 5.5 KG (let's start with 5,5KG first) so that means she has to eat 165. She is eating now 170grams a day, but that isn't really working for her (she came down from 200 grams a day)
So starting tomorrow I will give her 160grams and we will see how that works..
She needs to lose the weight but she doesn't need to lose it quickly ;) that can cause problems again... and we are done having our little problems, don't we haha:p
btw, you can see in her SS also a tab called Baco's weight loss, so you can see how she's doing....

Ok, brilliant.
I don't think I know what type of food you feeding Baco.
Rocky is on raw homemade with supplements.

Baco is getting raw food as well, not homemade (that's for real pro's like yourself ;)) but she gets what I can buy online, it's prepacked frozen and I cut it in peaces and put it in the freezer.
Then 12 hours before she gets food I will let it thaw in the fridge and she then gets it.

Ok, decided to start OTJ trial!
Rocky's BG is 7 on AlphaTrak which corresponds to about 5.8 on human meter. His AM dose was tiny (only 3 drops) and wend down pretty well.
I'm determined now so I'm going to be a little bit mean to him: I'm reducing his portions just a midge and I also make him "work" for his food by trying to get him to exercise.
So I get his bowl ready and walk with it in my hand and Rocky follows me! If he is good I stop, let him have a mouthful and off we go again! It is so funny to see him running after me with his loose tummy swinging from side to side ha ha ha! I'm so wicked but it's going to be worth it, I love Mr Rocky very much.
I think I've gone potty!

That's very good, I'm impressed.
I make his food and freeze it in daily portions and also make small portions in an ice cube plastic container and I have lovely squares just enough for his automatic feeder I use at night. One has to be organized ha ha ha!

Oh that so good you're giving the trial a try! Will cross my fingers for you! Why don't you make a thread everyday to tell about hhow he's doing? Would love to read about hoe he's doing each day!
5.8 is great indeed!

Hahaha you go! Let Rocky work for his food, hahaha i'm picturing this now in my head:p
I should try that with Baco, i've done that but she eventually will sit down and wait it out, she knows I will eventually give it to her, little brat:rolleyes:

I will watch Rocky's ss like a hawk these 14 days ;)
Are you also getting one or two mid cycle numbers? To see how his numbers are doing?

Thanks, Baco says hi to you and Rocky:p:bighug: but she is not really paying attention, because she getting food right now, THAT'S more important! Hahaha little piggy.
Baco lost weight today, so I did a little happy dance when she got on the scale ! :woot:
She knows the routine, I make Minnie's and Baco's food ready. Give Minnie his food, then grab the scale, put it on the ground, and she runs to it because she knows that is what mommie wants from her to do (after that she gets her food, so she wants it bad!), only she did it to quickly today hahahaha the scale was still 'loading' you know what I mean. But she wanted her food soooooo bad that she got on that scale in a second! Cute!
If all women would WANT to go on a scale like Baco.........

Are you also getting one or two mid cycle numbers? To see how his numbers are doing
Sure I will.
I like your method of weighing Baco, I have to try that with Rocky as what I do is a bit "funny": I put Rocky in a very lightweight shopping bag and then use digital luggage scales but it takes two people to do that!
I've just tried - no, it does NOT work for us as Rocky is moving on the scales and we getting 5 or 7 kg, he has to sit still for 30 seconds or so to get a reliable reading! Back to luggage scale I'm afraid.

I tried again on the bathroom scales, this time Rocky just sit there but the reading was off (7kg)! His weight is 6.2 on luggage scales and on baby scales at the vets.
Are you sure you can rely on your scales?
