yesterday's Caturday Report

good morning!

what traveling adventures with your kitties! my daughter flew from Alabama to Oregon with both of hers in the cabin and i think she paid $50 extra for the second cat. I'll try to find out what airline she was on.

my goal this morning is to post a pic of Anya's brazilian. CD sent me directions - so we'll see. back when i get it done!

woo-hoo, got it. it was the resizing part that i hadn't seen before - you have to move your cursor over the pic to get the option to resize to show up.

so here's anya looking cute:

Here's the x-rated version. the groomer basically shaved a strip from her tail to her knees. with her hygiene problems this is a million times better - and actually, except that i'm making an effort to take this pic, normally she looks fine - not so exposed at all.

Hi, how does that work with two kitties in the cabin. Are they placed under the seat? I've never traveled with a pet and am curious about flying with a pet.

Edit: I just read part of yesterday's thread where it's discussed about flying with kitties, thanks.

Nice job of getting your photos posted, yeah!!
Ooooh, a bit of x-rated stuff there, Julie! Hee, hee! Glad to hear that Anya doesn't pose like that normally!

those pictures seem really huge - and this was the next to smallest setting for resizing . . .

yeah, thankfully that's not what i see when i look at her.

i'll ask my daughter how the airline thing worked with the cats. it was just a year ago that she flew, so might still have the same rules.

Thanks for the info about flying w/ cats. I was wondering too.

Patty was looking for pizza dough recipe so here it is the on DH uses.

  • .5 cup luke warm water
    1 tsp. sugar
dissolve 1 package of dry yeast in the water and sugar
allow to proof (starts to bubble all over the surface)

1.5 cup flour (half semolina and half all purpose is best)
1 tsp salt added to flour and mound up on board
pour water/yeast mix into a crater in center of mound
    add 1 TBL. olive oil
mix together (stir from center out, mixing the flour in slowly)
    knead for 10 minutes
let rise for a couple of hours
    roll out into shape
    add toppings
bake at 450º for 15 to 20 minutes (on a preheated stone if you have one)

That recipe is the first one I've seen that allows me to only make one pizza crust!!! Yay!!! It's for just me a the DD so I didn't need a recipe that made 3 pizzas. This is the one I'm going to use. I'll let you know how I do!!

Julie - Poor kitty  Henry needs a hygienic shave also. I think I'll get it done when we see the vet in July.

That pizza dough recipe looks awesome! Thanks for sharing.

given the choice, i'd rather pay $15 preventative for a shave that lasts 2 months than try to work out dried poop all caught in her tail hair. or have her scoot on the floor to remove it herself. :o

squeem - i was reading your post about leroy and wondering if leroy has ADD!

i'm going to try the pizza dough recipe too. our grocery store sells 1lb bags of it already made and i usually just buy it, but that looks really good.

What racy pictures here on the loose lips post! Poor anya, so embarassing for her I'm sure. I used to have a cat named Cokie (GA) who was a manx. Unfortunately, she didn't have very many nerve endings that worked around her tail area (what should have been her tail) and she would always have poop hanging around (if you know what I mean!). Poor little kitty. She was so brave because my DH and I would have to give her enemas all the time. She lived 8 years and she was my DH's best girl. People are always amazed to hear all that we had to do for Cokie, but y'all understand. These are our babies and whatever we need to do to make them feel good, right? Oh dear, I sound pretty depressing when I just wanted to tell you how funny the picture of Anya is.

my goodness...binks wants to know how many racy pics we've missed in the last couple weeks???

we ran away from home to our cabin up north...and finally back to civilization where we can reconnect.
what a blessed break from foster kids, etc!

the adoptocats were glad to see me return...not so much to see Binkster...

Lol  Sometimes I wonder if he has a feline version of ADD  He wandered away from his dinner tonight and only came back after I added little Weruva gravy on top of the raw and put him back in front of the bowl

Emm'a day at the spa cost $42, not including the toothpaste. I think next time instead of the full treatment (bath, trim, nails) I'll just have her butt shaved. Emma occasionally gets stuff stuck back there but at least she doesn't scoot around trying to get it off

when binks gets klingons in the thick manx fur...he just comes to me and shows me his butt...confident that the server-bean will remove the problem!!

  Rocket leaves streaks on the floor   one can see where it begins/ends.....

i love the pics...wow...xrated version....poor Anya...little does she know she has made HUGE news here today :o :o :o :o

The last time J.D. had one (like 3 days ago), he wrapped his body around my head to go to sleep. PEE EWE! It was immediate in the sink time.

I did not show J.D. that That picture!

OHMYGOSH - now i'm gonna think KLINGONS!

oh yeah, except that little x-rated Brazilian will take care of that problem - no more klingons or streakers for us!

I'd give anything to have pics of the Hula Skirt Binks wore when they shaved him for his ultrasound...it was hilarious...

ALOHA_OY!!!!

yesterday there was some conversation about flying with your cats - my daughter just brought her 2 cats back from alabama with her last may (a year ago.) I asked her about it and this is what she says:

American and Delta are the ones I'd recommend flying with cats in the cabin. Only Delta allows two cats in the carrier at the same time, total weight must be under 25lbs. Hard-sided carriers generally aren't allowed. Most airlines charge $50-$100 for the cat. Cat must stay in the carrier at all times in the airport and on the plane EXCEPT you will be required to remove the cat for security. The carrier will go through w/carryon baggage to be scanned, and you and the cat will walk through the scanner.

I'd recommend getting a light sleeping pill for the cat from the vet. Also have to visit the vet within 10 days of flying out to get a signed certificate of health - $10. The pill is less than $5 (one for each way, too). And of course, try to have your travel time take the least amount of time possible!

With the carrier, get your cat used to it before travelling. Mine loved to sleep in it - until their first plane trip. of course. They'll still climb in it every now and then though. Also, an absorbent pad is a must. The Sherpa brand is expensive, but it's a good choice: has handles & a strap, changeable pad, netting on sides to see & breath (and smell that 'mom' is still nearby), and two openings - the top one is great for shoving in an unwilling cat. The carrier will have to be stored under the seat in front of you on take-off and landing, but can be brought out to your lap during flight. Mine, however, freaked out more on my lap than under the seat.
