Yesterday's Condo

Not liking this at all. Ugly numbers. :( I know this is only the third cycle we last saw green on this dose, but I'm ready to pull the trigger. Do I need to wait 6 cycles, or do you think we should increase tonight?

Cinco had two BMs today, which is very unusual. The first, which was a nice, big, healthy one, was early this morning. The second one just took place. It was even bigger, and I saw him straining to get it all out, even though it was not dry or hard - very healthy looking. I could tell it upset his insides, and sure enough, as soon as he came out of the box he vomited. Lucky me, he was still on the pee pads! Unfortunately, I had just put a new outfit on him and he got poo on it, so it's soaking in the sink now and he just got a third outfit put on, much to his disgust. I noticed he could still get to one of his hot spots in the first outfit, maybe because it fit so tight and it pulled the opening at the rear up a bit. The new ones are mediums, but they have short sleeves, unlike the one I returned to the vet, so they seem to fit better. Still a little big, but I think they'll work out, as long as he doesn't have another major poo! I did leave him without one for an hour or so when I took the original one off, but he went for his first hotspot, so he lost his freedom again. I increased his Zyrtec to twice daily.

Minka is MUCH better today!!! :) When DH came down to t/f/s Cinco, she followed him into the kitchen and asked for food, so he gave her some, and she ate it (the same food she turned down yesterday). When I came down and was fixing their breakfast, she made such a pest of herself that I threw a spoonful on a plate and gave it to her, and she scarfed it right down! When I gave her the actual breakfast, she gave it one sniff and walked away! I dished up another serving and left out the l-lysine, and she ate 3/4 of it right away! I'd suspected for a while that she could smell it, so I guess I will have to stop putting it in her food. Anyway, since then she has had several LARGE helpings of food! I guess she's making up for lost time. I noticed this the last time she had a really good day, too - it's almost like the appy stimulant I gave her the day before suddenly kicked in. She's eager for food, and meowing when I approach with a plate, which is not really normal for her. Very interesting. Whatever it is, I'm delighted to see her eating so much, because when I weighed her yesterday I found she'd lost a couple more ounces.

Sasha got off to a slow start. She threw up a little about half an hour after her tummy meds, but they weren't there, as far as I could tell. I waited half an hour and offered her breakfast, with embellishments, and she ate it, so I guess she felt better. She's had a snack since then, too.

Harvey is his usual hungry self. Except for Cinco's little smelly issue, a much better day today!

Thanks to Carla, Marilyn and Serryn for the visits this morning. The appy vines worked.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. Extra vines for Michelle's Elsa and Jamye's Fred. :bighug: Prayers and vines to Amy's DF, Marje's DM, Chris' DM, Molly's DM and Elise's DM.

Hmmmmm, always a hard call on the failed reductions. You don't need to wait for 6 cycles without green to call a failed reduction but I think I'd be tempted to give him another cycle or two.

Eventful morning already between BMs and vomitrons but yay for the food report :)

That wasn't a dosecrease threat, Cinco, that was a dosecrease promise. Da bean needs to see better numbers than that. Maybe the double poo will help. Yay for happy appys, especially Minka. Chow down!
Liz

You definitely don't have to wait 6 cycles, just however long you think it's taking Cinco to get over the bounce. When you first took him down to .25U, he showed greens again on the 4th cycle. If it's still taking him 4 cycles to clear a bounce, I'd give him tonight to see what he can do. And maybe just fatten the dose, as .5U got him into the 30's.

Yuck on the cat outputs! Neko's was half in/half out of the planter pot she'd jumped into. Part of me is happy she can still jump that high.

Woohoo on Minka's appy - I wonder if that was the acupuncture helping her. I seemed to remember her eating with gusto after the last treatment.

I think I'd wait and see what Cinco does tonight after he got all that poo out. It might make a difference. I'm glad Minka was eating good today.

Hold that syringe one more cycle.....maybe da poops come out and da BG comes down

If you don't see some better numbers tonight, I'd call it failed ....but I agree with Wendy...maybe try a Fat .25 and see if you can get his attention again

YEAH that Minka's eating better!! And Sasha ate too....I'd call it a good day!!

Sounds like a pretty good day all round for you except for the poop and vomit issue, which hopefully has passed. Hope the Zyrtec is working. Sending appy and healthy poop vines your way.

Thanks for stopping by, Serryn (both of you :p) Liz, Wendy, Carla, Chris and Bron.

Okay, we stuck with the dose tonight, but unless I see something that makes me happy this evening, we will be adding a few drops. You should have seen the look DH gave me when I told him we'll go up to a fat .25! He's not thrilled about quarter units to start with. He refuses to use the digital calipers (can you believe it? A guy that won't use a tool??? This is a guy that owns pretty much every tool known to man. Our contractor thought he'd died and gone to heaven when I turned him loose in our garage!). So we'll see how this goes...

Minka's appy finally tapered off and she didn't want any of the three different entrees I offered her tonight. She doesn't look uncomfortable or nauseated. I decided to test @tiffmaxee's theory and gave her some Zyrtec. We'll see if she eats later.

@Vyktors Mum, sorry about Vyktor's being a copy cat. You have to be careful who's behind you when you read these condos! :joyful:

@Wendy&Neko, I went back through the journal I keep for Dr. K and found that you are correct about her last treatment - two days later she ate well. The treatment before that, however, it didn't happen. She has had other good days in between, too, so don't know if there's a connection.

ARGH! I just heard Cinco coughing so got up to check on him, and the little knothead had gotten completely out of his clothing and was coughing on the fur he'd just pulled out of his leg!!! :banghead::banghead::banghead: I think the medium might be too loose, after all. I put it back on, but if he gets out of it again I'll switch back to the small. Aye yi yi!!!!

Several people on Tanya's CKD use Zyrtec as an appy stimulant. No idea how similar it is to cyproheptadine as both are antihistamines. I'll be waiting to see if it works.

@tiffmaxee, Minka just came into the kitchen and asked for food. She's eating now! Coincidence???
I'd like to think not. We need to see if it continues.

Hey, did the Trimline collar ever arrive and do you think it will help at all? I just saw the flyer sitting on my coffee table and need to file it away.

I'm sure they will exchange it or you could return it. I dealt directly with the manufacturer. Nice guy. He didn't even ask for payment and just sent a bill with the collar.

that's quite a read today....
mostly good.... and of course, always some inconvenience....

sounds like a couple of stitches here and there might get that suit snugger in the right places....

and of course, appy vines...

I hope Cinco will get back to his food numbers! Great to hear Minka ate this morning and Sasha and Harvey are doing well.

And thanks for the wishes for my mom.

The heat is gearing up here!!
