punkin's snoozing at my feet right now. breakfast snarfed, sadly anya didn't make the clean plate club. she didn't touch her breakfast and just wanted to play, so rather than let punkin eat another 1/2 can of food, we picked up her plate for later. but that made punkin's dish even cleaner! so he made the CBC!

we're off to a funeral in a town an hour away, for the mother of one of my friends. our son lives there and our daughter at the coast is coming over, so we'll have all 3 of our kids & we're going out for dinner at Olive Garden. woot! our foster daughter has gone underground, although she's still using her cell phone so i know she's alive.

The vet tech is going to come and give punkin his shot so we don't have to rush back. kinda feels like a day off!

Though it's a sad reason to be out, I hope you enjoy your day off!!! I love Olive Garden!!! Okay, now you made me hungry

Have a good day, Julie!! :-D

Sorry that a funeral is the reason that your whole family is getting together, but it will be nice to be able to see all of them. Enjoy dinner! Oh dear on your foster daughter. Hope she is ok.

glad you can leave without worrying about punkin. Enjoy the time off from caregiving!

Glad to hear about Punkin doing ok but so sorry to hear about your friend's mom. Sending you warm thoughts. It's hard to go thru things like this. I've been to a couple lately and it hurts to see my friends ache. Wishing you a peaceful evening.

thanks all - it was really a lovely service. you always learn things about people when people speak of them - helen was an amazing woman. traveled all over the world, raised her daughter alone, and started a lot of health programs. she was a nurse in the unit that first arrived at Dachau when the allied forces arrived. i had no idea. then after she retired she worked or volunteered, not sure which, with Mercy Corps doing aid around the world.

i knew her as my friend's mom who came to take care of her grandkids while my friend worked. one Halloween she gave my kids little pumpkins filled with candy corn. funny how you only know one aspect of a person - i really only saw her as the grandma.

nice dinner with the kids - my eldest asked my son if he wanted to apply for a position at the sister hotel to the one she manages and if he wanted to live with her. would never have expected it, but he said yes. but there ya go - kids grow up and become nice adults. made me happy.

and the vet tech left me a note saying that punkin's getting used to her - didn't freak out, let her test him and shoot him and the whole works. that's nice. she's a really sweet young woman going to the vet school here.

I'm so sorry about your friend's mother and glad you could make it to the service and spend time with the kids. It's nice for you to have a day out.

Hope you have a great evening.

sorry for the loss of your friend's mom, but it does sound like you had a good day with family. wonderful for your son! it is great isn't it when they grow up, become adults, become capable of running their own lives. good for them!

Your vet tech sounds like a keeper. It is always so great when they come to the home, let's you get out, have a day off. very nice indeed.

Julie: just saw your note on our condo. I didn't have to work like in my job work today. I just meant there's always paperwork to do...either at work or at home. I actually got up, fed cats and did Gracie's routine, went btb, and then got up and did chores. I got in a nap later today, too. So don't worry about it....I was happy to stay up and I'm glad you got some hot tub time with DH. I just appreciated you hanging out as long as you did!
