New Libre Today (last one lived the full 14 days). Asked the vet to compare my AT with her AT because I was worried I broke mine since it may be reading too high and actually mine was lower 30 points. That is definitely within the range and no complaints there.

Henry's numbers are much better. Tomorrow is the third cycle at the new dose so there is a chance of a bigger dip but will see. No ketones. He is at 18 pounds now so that is not great; as he stabilizes will work on a weight loss plan.
 
Did the Freestyle Lite read more than 100 points lower at +4 tonight? Similarly lower by 70 points in the AM cycle?
(Btw, you want to colour both cells blue - where you got a reading below 200 on the FSL)

Hi Bhooma, I do not really trust the FSL reading right now because it constantly reads a ton lower than both the Libre and AT so maybe something with my test strips. I bought another meter just in case but same result so could be the strips. I realized the FSL does not come with control solution so I could not test the strips. I ordered some and will see. Like today at PMPS FSL=261, AT =418 and Libre =465. Same blood drop for FSL and AT. He is back to red of course I will post today's number shortly.

Was Henry always on a wet LC diet?
My cat Boris was eating prescription dry food (royal canin urinary) before the diabetes, and he was more or less...uh...morbidly obese for most of his life. I couldnt get him to loose weight. Since I changed his diet to wet food LC he is steadly and slowly losing about 50 gr. per week, even though his diabetes is now regulated (so its not related to the Hyperglycemia) and I still feed him a lot (more than the instructions on the cans). He still has a long way to go in terms of weight loss, but im happy that its progressing slowly and safely.
If Henry's diet was changed to LC just recently, maybe he can loose weight without a program.

So Henry was on the same food you mentioned (funny how that helped with urinary issues only to result in diabetes and obesity right?) and yes he was 20 pounds yikes. started the wet prescription food 10% carbs in january and lost 3 pounds in 2 weeks (320 calories per day from a gazilion) . But then he shortly started hating that food. I then had him on some Purina DM prescription food for a little while 15% carbs yikes , but he has been on LC for a while now and he went up from 17 to 18 pounds again. He is super picky and will not accept any food until i sprinkle something on it. sometimes more than one thing on it. drives me nuts. and he is very vocal about food. he has always been like that, picky hungry and vocal. But super sweet and love him of course unconditionally:cat: Hopefully as his numbers get better I can work out a weight loss plan for him. Any tips you can share are welcome. Like how many calories per day and how to plan when his numbers go down like crazy and you have to feed that curve :cat:

Are you using FSL strips with the FSL meter? Are the strips within the expiry period? One way to check is to test yourself and see what you get.

I hope Henry's diabetes will soon also be under control.
Boris is different from Henry... He would eat just about anything and at any amount. Appart from that for a long time he wouldn't let me near his ears, so my initial treatment was... well...basically shooting blind (and banging my head against the wall) for about half a year, trying to regulate him without testing. That was almost impossible. At some point i managed to lower his BG with urinary tests for about 10 days and I could tell that his Insulin needs are changing fast. He dropped from a 3 unit dose to about half a unit, and thats when i started testing him more regulary (even though its still hard). So unfortunately, I didnt gather a lot of information about 'feeding the curve' and stuff like that. Since being able to (partially) test him, I noticed that he is dropping quite fast after the shots, so I feed him a little bit with his shot and then a bigger portion at +2 when the insulin kicks in. I think recommended calorie intake is very individual (like sensitivity to carbs), I also feed him mostly German Brands (like Animonda Carny, Athena etc...) -- I live in Israel and the supplies available here are a bit different...and so Im afraid I don't have a lot of insights I can share in regards to Brands of food or calories as well...
As long as Henry's BG is high... loosing too much weight, too quickly, is a bigger risk because of the fatty liver issue. I'd keep weighing him regulary just for that (to prevent too much weight loss). Dr. Pierson wrote in her website about cat's nutrition that loosing more than (around) 1.5% of the cat's body weight per week is dangerous (for any reason at all). Also, you must keep in mind that cats with high BG are normally dehydrated, so there is a certain amount of weight fluctuation just because of that: Every time that Boris's BG dropped further, he gained back at least 200 gr. (I think due to the fact that his body was able to retain more fluids again).
