well we have an appointment for Tiger to get his dental done. We opted for a board certified dentist (only one here) that our vet also gave high recommendations for. We can’t get it done until July 8. Our vet, at my request gave us some antibiotics that hopefully will help until then. It’s clindamycin drops. Anyone familiar with this and its effects on diabetes?

I can’t believe the wait is almost a month. Even if we chose to have our vet do it, it would be at least 2 weeks. I think it’s better to wait for the one that is certified….any input?

His numbers today have been high but not surprising with teeth problem and a trip to the vet. He did let her look in his mouth and she believes 2 teeth need removal. Poor baby….im actually surprised he has had so many blue numbers lately.

Looking for any advice or input from others .

Have a great evening!

Clindamycin drops (Antirobe?) don't impact diabetes. But they taste horrible according to Neko. Be prepared he might foam at them. They are also really hard on the tummy flora. Make sure you are giving Tiger probiotics too, a couple hours apart from the Clindamycin.

I was much happier going to a dental specialist for Neko. They are a lot more used to older and more complicated animals. And do extra monitoring during the anaesthesia. Did you ask if they have a waiting list for any cancellations?

Thanks Wendy. Gosh I don’t need anymore tummy problems! I don’t have any probiotics on hand, any recommendations?

I did ask to be waitlisted but thx for the reminder.

Options for probiotics are Proviable, Visbiome, RenewLife. The latter one is a people probiotic brand and has some versions advertised to help with taking antibiotics.

Hope Tiger feels better with the meds. Great job finding the surgeon, Deb. I hope you can get him in sooner.
Give Tiger some hugs from us please :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Reading up on clindamycin is a bit scary. It says most vets have quit using it as it can be fatal! I haven’t started it and not sure I want to, especially since he has tummy issues already. Vet that prescribed it won’t be back in until Friday. Always something. I don’t know what to do now.
