Nothing new to report. Rudy's feeling good, but his BG refuses to move the past few days/since the new girl arrived. I'm not gonna stress it. He'll come back down when he's ready.

Yesterday's post

So sick of flat yellow. Last few cycles have totally stunk.

All the new girl does is sleep. I have to wake her up from comas several times a day just to get her to wander around, use the box and eat. I'm thinking she should have some bloodwork done at my vet if she's not more lively in the next few days. She did make friends with the dog. That was easy since Jack likes everyone. Rudy has stopped growling at her, so he's coming around. Kiki is still upset and doesn't want her to come close. So things are somewhat improved.

Joli was spayed on Wednesday. She was also in heat when they did it. Then on Thursday morning, she had a popped stitch and small hernia, so she had to go back under sedation for repair.

Aside from the two surgeries, she also spent a night at a foster home, a night at the vet and now she's here.

I don't think Joli's had a very good life until now. She didn't know her original name or the word "no" - two things cats seem to learn first. She's also thin - her whole spine sticks out like a dinosaur back. She was growling the first day or so while she was eating, so I think she was afraid one of the other cats was going to take her food. She had also never been to a vet before this week - and her being a purebred - it just screams backyard breeder. (Reputable breeders give basic kitten vax and have contracts and stipulations.)

All of these things make me think she was a little neglected in some ways...

Poor Joli. Well, she has hit the jackpot now! It will be wonderful to watch her bloom.

If she blooms. I'm not getting a good feeling so far. To be totally honest - I think I made a mistake taking her.

How old is she? I have been through this buyer's remorse before. It is always stressful to work a difficult one into the herd, but it will get better. Once I gave one away only to take her back, and what a blessing she became to me. You have been suffering through a very bumpy ride with your little family lately. I hope it smooths out soon.

Thank you. The vet's office said a year. I think she's more like 8-9 months. I've never felt like this about a pet I've brought home. I'd rather be breaking up a scuffle than being upset that she doesn't seem to want to be here. I'm not going to give up on her. She just got here. She's slept with me both nights, but she hasn't done much of anything else.

46?!? Holy crap, Rudy. Where'd that come from?!?

Gave spoon of MC with syrup. Seems fine. Will retest in 30.

BG back over 90. Rudy's busy kicking around his milk loop. I'm going to bed.

As for Joli - she must have read my posts. She's been wide awake and hanging out for the last 2 hours. She also seems interested in Rudy's milk loop hockey game.

Goodnight. :cat:

Good catch on the 46!
Glad Joli is starting to settle in. It just may take awhile after all she's been through, especially since you don't know how she was treated before you got her.
