Yesterday's Condo

Another late condo. Hopefully I'll be able to get online earlier the rest of the week.

Once again, DH surprised me. He didn't like the first number he got at AMPS (neither do I), so he retested! :-D Don't know why he was so high, unless it's because DH shot so early last night. But Cinco is used to that, so I can't say for sure that's it. We are starting to suspect the insulin. It's four months old, and although it's been treated well, we're wondering if it is past its prime. I ordered a refill this morning and will pick it up tomorrow afternoon, so we'll see what happens when we use it tomorrow night. Cinco was again very restless last night, going back and forth between the living and family rooms, hollering. He started it about five minutes after I went up to bed. I came down and visited with him several times and finally I gave him a little snack, and then he settled down to sleep. Maybe he was just hungry and I need to start giving him a snack around +8? I'm concerned that this would impact his AMPS, but I used to give him a +9 snack, and it didn't seem to make a difference. I'll have to play with this idea a little. Maybe +7.5 would work, although he gets a little something at +6. At least I don't have to worry about stimulating his appetite!

Today was Minka's annual exam, and all went well. Blood work results tomorrow, but we aren't anticipating anything unusual (knock on wood). Her thyroid seems to be well regulated, and her COPD is no worse than it's been. She's still on Pred, but if that's what it takes to keep her comfortable, so be it.

I chatted with the two vets that treat Minka, Harvey and Sasha regularly, one of whom, Dr. C., did Sasha's surgery. Dr. C. said that the Oncologist called her today to discuss that surgery and the Onc said she had not yet reached the pathologist. She told Dr. C. that, after speaking to her and to the surgeons at UCD, she really doesn't think amputation is a good option for Sasha. I don't know if I should be happy about this, as I kind of figured it was backup plan if the other surgery plan doesn't work out. I didn't get a call today, but I'm guessing it's because she didn't reach the pathologist yet.

Dr. C. and I spoke about cat sitters. I had found one online that I thought she would know, and she did. She told me should would recommend this sitter, but wasn't sure if she would do injections. I may be calling the lady to find out. Dr. C. is also familiar with the vet hospital where I board Cinco and Minka. She said she had heard similar stories from others about the difficulty of talking to someone in charge about issues. She said it's because they're so big, and the only vet around with the extended hours and boarding. She said I shouldn't worry too much about the shooting schedule being disrupted, but she wasn't thrilled about the lack of testing, and the time they shot the 53 and didn't test. Dr. C. is the vet that interned with the diabetes expert at UCD. I think I'm going to try to give the manager at the boarding facility another call tomorrow. Wish me luck.

No more vetty appointments this week. Tomorrow I have a doctor appointment, and Thursday a hair appointment, so I'm not done running around. What a crazy week! I'm trying to get everything I can accomplished before my foot surgery on the 25th, as I'll be on crutches for a month, and that always complicates everything. I still need to get my car in for it's 100,000 mile servicing, too. Sigh. :YMSIGH: No rest for the wicked.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :YMHUG: Sorry I haven't done much visiting lately. I'll try to catch up in the next couple of days.

Re: 6/10 Cinco PMPS 215

(((Tricia))). You have so much on your plate right now. I'm so sorry that on top of it, you have to have the foot surgery. You must be sure to take care of yourself and allow your foot to recuperate.

Sending healing vines for Sasha and Minka. You are dealing with so much :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

I'm thinking he needs a bit more insulin.

Sending you LOTS of prayer.......

Re: 6/10 Cinco PMPS 215 +3 171

Thanks, Marje. Yes, I think more insulin, too. First, though, we'll see what a new vial does. If that doesn't help, we'll look at increasing him on Sunday - or Monday. We may get home in time to shoot Saturday night, after all, even if we are an hour or so late, which is totally manageable.

I've put off this surgery for a couple of years and I just can't wait any longer. It's not a big deal, but no weight on my left foot for four weeks is going to cause some issues - like how do I get a cat to the vet if I can't carry it? We'll figure it out, I'm sure.

Re: 6/10 Cinco PMPS 215 +3 171

Wow, you really do have a lot on your mind,I hope you get some information soon from the pathologist. Sorry to hear you had trouble with boarding for Cinco, that is very concerning! And I hope your foot surgery goes smoothly, take care!

Nice to see some blue again. Hoping for more tomorrow. Cinco just did his wandering around meowing thing. He's up on the sofa, down on the floor, up on the ottoman, down on the floor. I guess he's feeling well and is bored. Not sure what to do for him, so I just offer a nanner and pet him. He finally settled on the back of the loveseat in the living room. I'm hoping that's the last show for tonight.

I forgot to mention in my condo today that Minka pulled an escape on me on the way to the vet. I was about 3/4 of the way there, driving along at 75 mph when I looked down and saw a little furry face peering at me from the floor on the passenger side! :o I must not have latched the door securely, and she slipped out! I was running late (as usual), so I didn't want to pull over. She wandered back and hung out on the floor in the back seat for awhile, then came back up to her starting point. We were almost there when she decided she wanted to be under my feet! I managed to pull her up without wrecking and plopped her in my lap, where she stayed (my idea, not hers) until we got to the vet. She did not want to get back in the carrier, but once in the exam room, did not want to get out! I had them shave her derriere so we won't have a repeat of the recent poopy butt incident. She was quietly indignant all the way home.

Yay for blue...work it, Cinco!!! I wonder what he's up to with his roamings and chatterings. I think, more than anything, they just love confusing us and playing with our minds.

OMG on the "escape" ...my heart would have been racing! I'm glad all went well with her check up....sending prayers for perfect BW!

I really can't believe how unprofessional that boarding vet has been. I really hope you are able to find a suitable replacement....it almost sounds like just about anything else would be better!

I hope you get more news about Sasha soon, so you can come up with your plan and move forward.

As always, we're sending tons of hugs and prayers!!
