Yup, my boy is still running high. Waiting to see if the dose reduction will kick in. Lowered the lancet device to 1 today. With the lancet device setting at 4,3 and 2, we were shooting through his ears. I also purchased some Neosporin with pain relief, and am using a touch of that after each test. Our lancets are 28 gauge. I did have a question about not feeding 2 hours before test. I do not do this. Gideon eats when he eats. I think overnight he sleeps, so in the AM he has probably not eaten in a while.

That recommendation about not feeding within two hours of test time is mostly just for newbies I think...
Sometimes, you can get a surprise BG number before the insulin is due. If the cat may or may not have eaten before, it just makes it harder to tell if the number is food influenced. In some cases- especially after you have enough data to know how your cat's numbers trend before and after insulin is given- the issue of eating or not eating won't matter as much when it comes to deciding if a number is safe to shoot.
Getting +10/+11 BGs and +1/+2 spot checks can often give you this information so you can tell if the BG tends to continue to rise or fall both closer to when the next shot if given and even after the kitty gets insulin.
Don't sweat it too much

Gideon is a newly diagnosed diabetic and I would pick all food up 2 hours before insulin.
