howdy,
i'm just feeling late for everything and 3 steps backwards....

Shadow didn't eat much last night unless she had some YA.
This morning , same thing, I even opened and tried another kangaroo but she left. I just love throwing away expensive cat food.
I even gave her some raw shrimp with her shot, which she ate half.... ( total of 4 shrimp)

I had to work for 4 hours.... dh stayed home today as he has vacation with use it or lose it ...
I had him paying attention to her and trying to show her the food .... she ate a nibble for him.

So when I got home... ran to store and got the last one she ate willingly, that friskies shredded salmon with
gravy....
I wish I knew if it's just that the fish doesn't bother her.... or she just wants gravy.
But She Ate It!

Whew! something.....
Some times I feel like it is cancer and it's just some ugly alien growth that's filling her insides....:stop:

but of course,
I forgot to get chicken so I can do the bone broth....

I'll go back again tomorrow ....

ibd sucks...
cancer sucks....
and I hate all thse unknowns......

Glad you found something for Shadow to eat.
My Maxie who passed a couple of years ago had ibd and was on pred and his appetite was up and down. I know how frustrating it is trying to find something they will eat.
With Sheba's medium and high carb food ......I freeze the left over food in ice trays ....then I can get a cube out when I need it. I have containers of 13, 16 and 22 carb food frozen and marked in the freezer. Just a thought as it is a shame to throw out expensive food and she might eat it at a late date. It doesn't effect the quality of the food at all........well I haven't tasted it but it looks just the same.

I'm sorry things are so stressful. At least you found something she will eat. I hope she'll continue to eat it. :bighug::bighug: Sending prayers.

Tiffany who had lymphoma had scrappy appy without daily ondansetron and cyproheptadine twice a day. Until she got chemo which did result remission,,she had very soft stool and projectile vomiting. Prednisolone did not increase her appy at all but did keep her going and she didn't have the loose stool or vomiting.:bighug::bighug:

Sending mega loads of appy vines!!! :bighug::bighug:There's nothing worse than when kitty won't eat that's for sure! That is weird how specific Shadow is with food though, raw shrimp and shredded salmon friskies? Who'd a thunk! But that's what I would feed her if that's all she wants at this point! I like Bron's idea about freezing that leftover food. I hate the idea of food being in a can anyway, I transfer Tiger's food to a glass dish, but it often dries out and ends up being thrown away anyway.

And I could not agree more, IBD/Lymphoma really do suck, but so does not knowing which we are doing battle with. :bighug:

Sending lots and lots of appy vines to Shadow. I'm glad she likes that Friskies flavor at least, and I hope the bone broth helps.

This is something I found from the company that makes the raw goat's milk Billie likes - it's fish stock. http://answerspetfood.com/fish.html I'm wondering if Shadow might like it mixed in her food since she is a fan of seafood. I got some for Billie but she wasn't interested. Brooklyn liked it. You could probably make your own too. feline-nutrition.org says fish stock and bone broth are both great for IBD.

:bighug:

Beautiful surf today, but I'm sure part of that was because she didn't eat much.

I know how frustrating this is for you, Rhiannon. Harvey has days, even with the Pred, where he just doesn't think anything tastes good. Fortunately not too many of them, but he's on a higher dose of Pred than Shadow is. I hope you find something that will tempt her to eat better.

Sending appy vines for her and comfort vines for you.

@Deanna & Billie, I checked out that link, too. Looks interesting. I found a store that's not far from me (that I didn't even know about) that carries their products, so I'm going over tomorrow to check it out. Thanks!

@rhiannon and shadow I'm laughing at the comment about raising mice. I guess that is the only next step when we have tried literally everything. Of course, Billie let a mouse live in our first apartment for months. She had plenty of opportunities to kill it but I guess she's a pacifist. Then, I brought Brooklyn home...and the mouse was dead within hours.

I hope the Answers products are useful for you and @Tricia & Cinco ! Billie really likes their goat's milk. It has honey in it but the as fed carb content is 4 or 5% and I haven't noticed it spiking Billie's BG. She loves it straight and it has also been helpful mixed in with FF to get her to eat that. I wish she liked the fish stock too.

@Deanna & Billie I went to the store that was listed on the Answers website. They had the goat's milk, but not the fish broth. They are going to check into ordering it and let me know. I did buy the small container of goat's milk, just to see if Minka might like it. It's still frozen solid. I hope it thaws enough to try it tomorrow.

:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I am sorry to hear you have a not happ appy kitty....

Sending happy appy vines to Shadow and relaxing and stress relieving vines to you :bighug::bighug:
