Looks like Sandy gave you some good guidance yesterday. If she is onboard for the trial and will be checking in, go for it. This assumes you made sure that you have everything you need, hypo kit, test supplies, etc. When I did the R test, we tested hourly to see how the insulin affected the numbers. I would test hourly unless Sandy advised you otherwise. I'll be checking in as well. Update the SS and title as you test since we will be bugging you otherwise.

Looks like it is kicking in after the small initial rise. Nice to see another blue number. That is about the most action you want, going from 273 to 195 in an hour is getting close to the most you would like to see them drop. Too fast of a drop can cause a bounce. I don't think that warrants any steering yet, but if she continues to drop like that it might be good to slow the drop down. Sandy would be better able to answer that question.

On a house cleaning note, the SS gave me a little scare, I have always done:
22
0.25R

You have the R after the 22u of lantus, not a biggie but did perk me up for a sec, even though I knew you were only shooting .25R. Don't forget to update the SS, makes seeing the pattern a bit easier;)

I will change it. :)

Looks like you have R onset.
Thats almost an 80pt drop in one hour.

I haven't used R, but I think that I would be tempted to feed a little LC now teaspoon or two.
As the R actions continues to lower her BG (R duration is typically about 4 hours, so she probably hasn't nadired with the R yet) remember the Lantus is going to also onset at some point, we want to avoid her dropping too fast, dropping fast can trigger a bounce.

Though as it's the first time you are shooting R, it may be informative to see what happens at +3 if you don't feed.

I'm thinking outloud here as I have no personal experience of using R.
At any rate don't test any later than +3

That was my same thought. I would normally be tempted to feed. Since this is a data gathering exercise, as long as she is in safe numbers, I'm leaning towards seeing what the +3 is and deciding then.

Hopefully Sandy will pop in and give some sage R advice and whether a little food steering would be a good idea.

Woot! Love that blue.

It's ECID on the R action, some cats need more, some need less. Neko never needed more than 0.5 units and when she was on smaller doses of Levemir, she would respond to drops of R. Evenually you'll want to build an R scale that tells you how much R to give, depending on the BG at the time and when in the cycle it is. Right now it's all about data gathering on Phoebe.

I do believe that is a new record for the girl!

Glad the R slowed down, now the Lantus gets to do its job and try to keep the blue run going.

Can't get much flatter than that. Now it'll be interesting to see what she does the next cycle. Some cats show some action the cycle after R too.

Nice work there team Phoebes! Well done!

Test as you normally would for the balance of this cycle.
It will indeed be interesting to see where she ends up for PMPS and how the PM cycle plays out.
I'll be peeking at the ss periodically today to see what happens

What a great looking cycle and thankfully no big surprises. If the hubby can get a mid-cycle test tonight it would be good information to have. Like Wendy mentioned, today is a big data gathering day to get a feel for how Phoebe responds to R insulin. Jack loves to give lower numbers the next cycle, but he has IAA which is known to delay the insulin action.

Nice to hear Phoebe is being herself and not getting too cranky with all the interrupted nap time.
