I have no idea what I'm supposed to do here. Suggestions??? I had already given him his food so I can't hold his food, but I can stall or not shoot.

i DO NOT understand this at all. I got a 93 at 6 a.m. Now it's 15 minutes later and it's 266?!!!!! What the hell?

It now says 256. Would food have entered his blood stream in just 10 minutes to have caused such a spike? Or do you think that number was from a bad strip?

Patty A 43 for a newbie cat is a automatic dose crease of 0.25 as Laurie told you last night--
Also wait 15-20 min. to re-test after feeding, so food has a chance to raise the bg..
Dont Panic!! You are in Control--you have strips, lc, mc & hc food, karo, and are there to monitor, so with all that, no worries!!--What is the next number?id you retest?
BTW It's Lather, Rinse, Repeat when monitoring the numbers after a low number--Like that wash, rinse , repeat though :lol: -Close but no cigar :lol: :lol: :lol: You got the idea anyway! :mrgreen:

I would go ahead and shoot.

It's possible that the 93 was a wacky test (that would be my guess) but it's also possible that the food influenced his number (less likely IMHO, not enough time).

I shot 3.5u!!! Yay...first reduction!!! I'll be here to test, but my strips had BETTER get here today.

Yay! Congrats on the dosecrease, Patty. What a night for you and so glad you had Julie and MJ for company for the pj party, great job. You're in good hands here with everyone. Take care.

Good luck with the reduction! Anytime you get a test that makes you go "huh?"...get another test. Sometimes there isn't enough blood to get an accurate reading, too much blood, the moon is in the first quarter, whatever....it happens.

HAHAHA. Okay, Laurie. I'll do that. I don't know why I didn't think to do that when he had had a 171 just two hours prior. Lack of sleep is a dangerous thing!! :lol:

Poor Champ is sooooo tired. He barely moves when I test him. I'm going to leave him alone until +6 so he can sleep uninterrupted for a few hours. His numbers are high enough I think. I finally got done with the work I had to have done by 10 a.m. so I think I'll go lie down myself. I can't see straight I'm so tired!!!

glad all went well last night - ok, now i've got it: lather, rinse repeat. no wash rinse repeat - it's lather! :lol:

have a great snooze! my husband ended up going and picking up our daughter in the middle of the night and except for a brief wake to shoot punkin, i slept in til 8:30. very nice. hope you're feeling perky when you wake up.

Yippeee!! I got a whole two hours sleep!! But man it felt good!!! :-D Something good I learned last night...I don't fluster easily when hit with low numbers. :-D But please, Lord, let's not have a repeat tonight...I wanna sleep!! :lol: :lol:

i agree with you about that 93. i think it was probably a bad test. everybody gets them every once in awhile. just re-test anything that doesn't look quite right.

I'm totally green with jealousy :mrgreen: :lol: but still very happy for you and Champ!

And how come he only decides to do this to you at night? Poor sleep deprived Patty, i don't know how you are functioning today with pretty much no sleep.

Thank you, Jill, for the pat on the back. I still need to tweak what I'm doing to bring him up out of the 40's quicker. I think I had Julie a bit worried. She really wanted me to Karo the cat!! :lol: I'm going to get some different HC food though, some of the 9-lives that someone mentioned that has lots of gravy (I think it was Laurie?).

Hi Tracy, you know...I think I've gotten used to the no sleep thing cuz I'm feeling pretty good right now. Of course, Champ will probably have another low numbers night and I won't be able to go to bed!! My daughter is going to a girls night sleepover with some of her sorority sisters so I won't have her to help, but she tends to not help much even when she is here!! :lol:

And, believe it or not, Champ did not have to answer to the name Chompers last night. He was a real angel boy! I think he was so tired he didn't have the energy to fuss!! :lol:

I also bet that 93 was a fluke...I've had that happen. Whenever I get a weird number, I retest in a few minutes.

Looks like Champ has plans for tonight...glad you got some rest.

I'm assuming since I shot a half hour late this morning, at 6:30 a.m., I was supposed to shoot tonight at 6:30, which is what I did. I really don't mind. It gives me an extra half hour on the weekends to stay in bed. Champ, though, will have to adjust his internal clock because he's so good at knowing exactly when 6 a.m. is and telling me to feed him!!!

yeah, i was a tiny bit alarmed! i think it's not a problem for them to get into the 40's, but after he'd been there for an hour and a quarter and was down to 41 i was kinda starting to nailbite_smile

i don't know how much karo you gave him before, but you could try a smaller amount in the future.

sorry, i didn't mean to get bossy, i just was getting worried! but you handled it all just fine.

Hahaha, Julie. You're funny! You can be bossy anytime you want!! The one time I used Karo on him before, I just smeared some on his mouth (he wouldn't lick it off my finger) and it sent him up 30 points. I just didn't want to take a chance!!! Your company and commentary are welcome anytime!! :-D

i think i can say at this point- been there, done that, and i feel for ya.

green tea- less caffeine than coffee or black tea so it keeps you just awake enough to function but you can still fall asleep when you want to. that's how i made it through college baby! and boat load antioxidants to boot (because something had to balance out the college part of college).

i have to head to bed, but i will be looking out for you in the morning, i'm sure he's going to give you a run for your money!
