Re: Bud AMPS 415 PMPS 360

I've been trying to get Bud's #s into the blues. She was on .85 for 8 cycles and (except for the rebound when I went from .75 to 1.00) she's been pretty flat.

I tried shooting 1.00 last night and this morning. Vet thinks she went low and was rebounding with the 415 this morning.

I shot 0.85 tonight after speaking with vet. The game plan is to stay on the 0.85 for at least a week.

Thank heavens for those pics of a drop and a half drop (posted on our fridge from day 1) as Walmart no longer has the 3/10cc with 1/2 unit markings.

Vet feels if we can keep her consistently under 250 it will be a good thing, given Bud's issues (Tiraditis). Both the vet and I feel it's unlikely Bud will ever come off insulin.

So...... Everyone, PLUeeeeeeeeez let me know what you think about these numbers and what you feel I should try next.

Beth, I am still confused as to why Bud is on the Leukeran. Has she been officially diagnosed with having cancer?

The diabetes in and of itself compromises the immune system.

You are giving a drug that also compromises the immune system.

Of course, I am not a vet. You know that. And I know you have a good supportive vet. Still just wondering 'why' is all. I am sorry since I know you are doing your best for Bud, but sometimes I wonder if we need to step back and re-evaluate what we are doing to 'help' our babies. Maybe giving this drug is exactly what you should be doing or not, I don't know.......?

All I do know is when Tigger had Triaditis his liver values were off the charts. I had to take him off insulin for a few short months because his liver was in such bad shape he would go too low if I gave him even a small amount of insulin.

But his liver did heal over time, with the help of Ursodial (Actigall), antibiotics and Denamarin and then he did go back on insulin after his liver started healing (because he was after all a diabetic).

As far as the syringes, if you order from AmericanDiabetesWholesale.com you can order the syringes that Melissa (Celle) posted about recently. I ordered some and they just arrived today:
