Yesterday's condo

Much better cycle after yesterday's doscrease! :D The first time in over a month that Walter has managed to stay in blue & green numbers all day. Now let's hope that this trend continues.

I am officially done grading. 94 final papers and exams in 5 days. I am exhausted... and very glad that I won't have to read any more student papers for the next 3 months.

But rather than sleeping in, I got up extra early and dropped my little feral girl off at the vet's for a spay and hernia repair surgery. I ended up naming her Blossom, hoping that the name will inspire her to blossom into a much more social little kitty. ;)

Nice numbers for Walter. Christina, it took me a while to reel Bubba back into the blues and greens. I understand your frustration.

Love the name for your baby girl and the reasoning.

Lookin' good, Walter! Yay on being done with grading for 3 whole months - that sounds heavenly!! Prayers for Blossom's procedure today, and that she blossoms once that is behind her!!

I didn't get to visit yesterday and look what Walter did! Surf safely today little man. Blossom is a great name and sending prayers for her procedures today.

Blue and green all day--hooray for that! I like the name Blossom. And congrats on the end of the term. My daughter handed in her last paper last night at midnight and graduation is the 22nd. I can't believe my baby will have her masters.

Congrats to your daughter - what a great accomplishment! I vividly remember turning in the final draft of my dissertation: 374 pages and 2 years of my life. After so many years in the school, it was the weirdest feeling to be done for good.

...and Walter put his surf shorts on and is back on his surf board. :D:woot::D

DH and I were trying to remember what that "last time" felt like. (And it might not be DD's last. She is trying to decide PhD or not over the summer. But for me, I was a bad bad girl and ditched my PhD halfway through. I felt bad--fully funded fellowship, Columbia, astrophysics, only woman in the department at the time. But I knew I did not want to continue. DH had already completed his PhD in phsyics/astro as well and we knew there could never be good academic jobs for both of us at the same place. We both ended up leaving the field and have worked together since 1978! So I guess it worked out. :)

Walter, please help Rosie to stay in the lagoon. Her mind wanders and she jumps right out!

I'm pretty sure I would have given up on astrophysics too. ;) My PhD is in American Culture Studies... and since I came here on a student visa, I always knew that I had 4 years of funding and that was it. As an international student, you can't get student loans or work off campus, so I managed to finish my coursework and the dissertation writing in 4 years. After I turned in my diss, I think I just slept for a week straight.

Blossom is back home and making up for the fact that she missed at least two meals earlier today. :p

The surgery went very well: They were able to spay her and repair the hernia, but since it was so big, she has a pretty long incision. I was planning on keeping her in a crate for now anyways to help socialize her, but she will definitely have to be kept calm for while.

But the totally unexpected news was that she was pregnant. That thought had honestly never even crossed my mind. She weighs 3.7 pounds and I thought for sure that she was under four months old. I guess she is a bit older (maybe 4-5 months was their guess) and it was very early in the pregnancy, but I am amazed that she went into heat that early.

...and now we really need to figure how we can catch her littermate. If the other one is a girl too, she is probably pregnant as well.

These kittys!!
My first cat (barn cat) was pregnant every chance she got:confused:
I was too young to realize I could have stopped that:banghead:

It's amazing how often they can have litters... I just don't think I have ever trapped a kitten that was quite this small and already pregnant.

Snickers mom was quite young when she got pregnant with Snick and milt. Under a year for sure.
