Sammy did OK last night he didn't stay in the green as long as I would have liked. I am so nervous about reducing, because he is seeing a bit more blue on his spreadsheet than I really want to see, and I am afraid that he will just have another failed reduction or failed OTJ trial. I am most concerned about the BLUE PMPS over the last few days. He was getting much better numbers on the solid .1u.

Would you take the 14 cycle in good number reduction (to .05 ZERO LINE) or would you increase back to a solid .1u and force a low before reducing?

hmm....
staring at ss.... the fluids always bring him back down.... and he's just on the blue line....
I went back and looked at previous years to see if he had this pattern before.
I think , imho, I'd add a drop back and try to continue the support.

when mine went otj, she had those borderline numbers and it was suggested that maybe she was just a slightly higher number girl.
I learned shortly thereafter that she had arthritis in all her legs, shoulders, and I knew about the hip but not how severe it was.
When I addressed her pain, she went lower.

So there's something that's affecting Sammy, needing the fluids and them bringing him back down. It could be some type of pain response.
that's my thinking of why to keep him just a wee bit longer.
it's not like you aren't monitoring enough.... you'll catch it if it's too much.

Yes, looking back at Sammy's spreadsheet he has had numbers over 110 three of the last 5 days, and when he was on a solid .1u he only had one day with numbers over 110. It really makes me wonder if he would be better off with a slight increase back to the .1u and hold there until he presents a low showing that he is ready for his reduction rather than reducing for good numbers after 14 cycles.

I just want to make sure that is the popular opinion before I add that drop back, there might be something that we are missing and I don't want to do the wrong thing, but sometimes you just have to try something and if it doesn't work then I can always go back to what I was doing before.

I should rephrase my statement of:

Looking back at the last 8 days of the .1u dose he had only one day with numbers over 110. The previous days on this dose we were at Knit Camp so I figured there were lots of extra circumstances that could have caused the higher numbers.

I don't think it would hurt anything to go back to 0.1u. It's reasonable for you to stay there until he goes below 50. There's no mandate that you have to take the "staying in normal #s for 14 days) option.

I'm thinking of Laura's Zeke, who just wanted to stay on 0.25u for ages in the spring of 2014 - he looked great on it but every time she tried to take it lower his BGs went back up. He's now down to just a drop.

Thanks everyone, I think I will take him back to a solid .1u tonight. I just don't think he is staying under 100 long enough, and he was doing so much better on the .1u rather than the SKINNY dose. He does seem to surf pretty well, but I don't know what tonight's number will be after hitting over 100 by +4.

I just got off the treadmill after doing a 4.5 mile run/walk and I think I will get outside this afternoon to do some work in the garden.
