Re: 5/9 Ella amps 385

Thanks for visiting everyone!

Ella came in with a 403 at +2.
I was going to come home at lunch to see how she's doing but at this point we're not seeing any action so I may try and save the planet a bit:)

Re: 5/9 Ella amps 385+2=403

Hi Tamara, hoping for a nice and slow drop today for sweet Ella and no worries for you. Have a nice day.

Re: 5/9 Ella amps 385+2=403

Dose increase tonight?

You don't want her to get too used to these high numbers. This dose has gotten her into yellow, but we know Ella can do better than that.

Re: 5/9 Ella amps 385+2=403

Hi Libby,

I think she may have dipped her toes in the blues and then bounced. I thought we shouldn't dosecrease on a bounce?!
The yellows came out of nowhere which kinda makes me nervous. If they got her into the blues, wouldn't it be wise to see if it can do it again?

I also gave her mc (12%) at +2 so wouldn't that have effected her numbers? She could have gone lower if not for that.

Re: 5/9 Ella amps 385+2=403 (dosecrease on a bounce?)

436 but that's because I fed her at +10.5 (she was high and so i didn't care about the number being influenced)
anyways, I dosed her .5....i'm nervous about it though

Re: 5/9 Ella amps 385+2=403 (dosecrease on a bounce?)

Good luck with the new dose :-D
Nice and easy, Ella..

Re: 5/9 Ella amps 385+2=403 (dosecrease on a bounce?)

I'm glad you increased. I don't think this is still a bounce - her number this morning was significantly lower than last night, and also this is about the same numbers range she has been in since you resumed insulin. To me, it looks like she is just high.

FYI, the main reason we say not to increase during a bounce is because we want to see where the numbers go when the bounce clears. If she hit 90 and bounced, then maybe when the bounce clears she would hit 70 and that's good, and she wouldn't need an increase right away. If that bounce clears and she still didn't get below 90, then you might want to increase to bring the range down. We dose to try to get the cat to the nadir we want, then hopefully the other numbers will fall into place from there. I think Ella has plenty of room for an increase, even if she did hit high blue yesterday.

Re: 5/9 Ella amps 385+2=403 (dosecrease on a bounce?)

one more thing - can you please mark on your spreadsheet that you fed at +10? Actually if you did that on other days it would help if you do it there too. You can just put a * in the cells where you fed. It will make it a lot easier to see if the food is affecting her numbers. Thank you.

Re: 5/9 Ella amps 385+2=403 (dosecrease on a bounce?)

Ok I will add a * in the boxes when I feed her. I also record the notes in the comments box to the side:)
I never feed her at +10 when she is low as I don't want to influence her numbers. She is however, STARVING when I get home and when she was lower in the past and didn't get food at +10, she would dive before shot time. I do think carbs, or lack of, influence her numbers as well.
Looking at her SS, is it clear when her nadir is?
Is it necessary to always get +1's or do +2's suffice?

Thanks:)

Re: 5/9 Ella amps 385+2=403 (dosecrease on a bounce?)

Good luck on the dose increase Tamara.

Your condos are always so interesting, I learn a lot by just reading them each day, but I'm sure you would rather it be a little boring sometimes

Re: 5/9 Ella amps 385+2=403 (dosecrease on a bounce?)

Thanks Barb!

Yes I would rather them be boring, especially when it's time to go to work! Hopefully we won't see any crazy dives in the morning:)

Re: 5/9 Ella pmps 436 +2=360

+2=360

I guess I should have done a +1. I know she's in the pinks but does this seem like a fast drop? I would consider it quick. She had her first supper two hours ago.

Hmmm...so just when I thought her +2 was looking like there might be some action, she went up!
Geez...she sure is confusing to me :?

edited to add: maybe the increase was from a food spike?

Your +2 and +3 are really about the same number. Remember, there's approximately 20% variance above and below each number so they really do overlap a great deal.
