Happy Caturday to all,

Nice early post from me this morning as I will be glued to the BBC later this morning watching the live coverage of the Badminton Horse Trials from the UK (just about all Electioned out) and something we used to attend on a regular basis and miss very much here. In my younger, fitter days I was a keen rider but have too many aches and pains now, more's the pity. :(

Anyway, more importantly, back to Crystal. She had quite a few hours in the blues yesterday but was at 230 at AMPS so I gave her 2uR and am hoping for better figures this cycle. She has started to come down already so paws crossed for a nice blue session. She's currently sunbathing on the pool cover getting maximum heat. It's coming off soon so she had better enjoy it while she can.

For those of you celebrating Mother's Day this weekend, I hope you have a lovely day with your families and your children spoil you rotten - for the rest of us we will have to rely on kitty cuddles instead!:bighug:

They covered the English election out here on a couple of the channels.....BBC and Sky. Watched some of it. Am glad they don't have a hung parliament to deal with...they cause too much trouble
I used to do a bit of horse riding in my younger days but only for fun.
Good luck with the R today. Hope Crystal goes down into blue for you.

good job! i think that was a good call and i see blue and maybe even green in her near future!

i'm hung up on wondering what a badmitten horse trial might be. Never heard of it and am wondering if one can play badmitten on a horse? that seems impossible in the way that I think one plays badmitten!

@julie & punkin (ga) thanks for checking in, hope so!
OT. Badminton is the name of the stately home estate, circa 17th century, where the horse trials , also known as three day eventing, are held. Probably the premier location in the world for eventing. Consists of 3 days, first day dressage, 2nd day cross country (today) and tomorrow finishing with show jumping. Real test of stamina and horsemanship, very exciting, usually 250,000 people there today. There's a similar event held in Kentucky last month. Now you are an expert!

@julie & punkin (ga) The mind boggles at that scenario!

Anyway, what do you make of Crystal at the moment? I gave her 2.0uR at +10 (268) and then her PMPS was 304, which I wasn't expecting, I wonder if the R is off or something, it definately wasn't a furshot - any thoughts anyone? I really don't know what to expect, except the unexpected!

283 at +2 after the 2uR, slow progress today..... thanks to Bron, Carla, Marilyn and Ruth who looked in hoping for better news, perhaps tomorrow, who knows.

Oh well, you get a good sleep tonight. Tomorrow is another cycle.

That pool cover sounds like a nice place to sleep, like a giant warm waterbed. :)

Suki, Enjoy your good nights sleep. Tomorrow is another day. Hope you get better results
on your next R trial. I love horses also. I had the same two for over Thirty years. I rode but
just trail riding.

I have no idea why she's gone up - the only thought that comes to my mind is perhaps a little New Dose Wonkiness. My understanding of R is that it's practically indestructible. I used the same vial for the whole time with punkin - maybe 1-2 years and it still worked.

@julie & punkin (ga) Thanks Julie, do you really think such a small increase would cause these highs, proportionately it doesn't even register? It's almost as if she is now resistant to the R, weird.

313 at AMPS so gave her 2.5uR and hoping for better things this cycle.

I don't know - i was just tossing it out there as a possible explanation for higher numbers that last a day or two after a dose increase.

There is also always the "absorption can vary by as much as 50% from one shot to the next" too.

I guess my thought is that I wouldn't worry too much about a day but instead look at a few days. There are blips here and there with cats, but the important thing is the bigger picture of several days' worth of data. Let's see how she does tomorrow.

Thanks Julie. I was wondering if it's to do with absorption. I give the R in her scruff, as advised, but this area is becoming very thick under the fur, as is the whole area either side where I give her the Lev. I can't do flank shots, the dose is too big and she has ample time to turn round and bite me, hard, so I'm stuck with the same site where it's harder for her to get to me. Would this thickening of the underlying tissue be the problem I wonder?

OT glad to hear you are both "horsey" ladies too. I was only a weekend rider, it was my therapy after working in London all week just to ride through the woods and enjoy the countryside. Didn't have my own horse but had various horses on loan over the years, which was the next best thing. Didn't compete but Eventing is my passion. I really miss it so have to make do as a spectator now. The Kiwis are in a very strong position for the final day at Badminton, 5 horses in the top 10, plus an Aussie so could well be a Southern Hemisphere victory. If you can get BBC2 Bron, it's on this afternoon.
Back to pondering what's happening with Crystal's numbers, completely flummoxed....

Not sure we get BBC2 but will check. It could be on another Foxtel channel.

We lived in the country for many years when the chiidren were growing up and we had a horse. A lovely quarter Arab buckskin called Domino. He was a pony about 14 hands and a real character. We had 25 acres and I used to love to ride him around the property. The kids all rode him. He knew who was on his back and would always obey me but tried to boss the kids. When we left to live in the city we had to find him a new home which was hard as we had had him for many years. A very nice lady took him who promised me he would not end up at the knackery.

@Bron and Sheba
Sounds an idyllic life for the children growing up. I love Arabs, used to ride a grey Anglo-Arab, my first love affair with a horse. I always used to complain to my dear mum and dad that I was a "deprived" child, because they wouldn't buy me a pony. When I could afford a horse, I then didn't have the time nor the facilities to look after it. Should have married a rich husband.....

Honestly owning a horse costs a lot of money and time and effort looking after it. When they get sick the vet bills are enormous. Domino used to get colic sometimes and when they get that you have to walk them and not let them go down. I loved him to bits but it is cheaper to just hire a horse to ride really. So your parents were probably very wise
