Yesterday

I don't want to discuss Tugger's AMBG this morning but I guess I have to. Hubby woke up first and fed. BACKWARDS. The badword man put the Counter Food on the floor (FF Marinated Morsels, Chicken) and the Floor Food on the counter. So Tugger cleared an entire plate of badword high carb food and he probably pushed Echo off and cleared the other plate too. Thankfully, it was only one can of the high carb put out and not three cans. ohmygod_smile

So I wake up at 8am and go to get coffee (which he hadn't bothered to make, and did I mention I was up till well after 2am with teenagers?) and I glanced at the food dishes. I see chunks on the floor plates. Chunks do not belong on floor plates. Floor plates are pate foods almost exclusively. So I pick up the plate that had a few chunks on it (out from under BB's nose, she was ticked!) and took it to hubby to ask "What is this?" *blank look* "Cat food?" sez he. "Yes smart*** it is cat food. Which cat food is it, because it looks like HC to me and it was on the floor and the dishes on the counter appear to be low carb so I'm just trying to figure out who ate what food." "Oh BADWORD. I screwed up again?" "Yes, it appears you did."

I get Tug's number. 175. BADWORDS, lots and lots of them. It'd only been a half hour since he fed when I tested.

I'll check again in about 15 minutes and probably a few more times today. Then, can I kill him? Hubby not the cat.

Happy Caturday, Marvie & Tugger!! No worries here... just leave the house or whatever you have to do to keep food away for 3-4 hours & test again.. Tugger's pancreas is working & you will have a much better # :mrgreen: Happy Carefree Day 12!! Interesting choice.. because it does not seem too carefree around there lol

I picked it in hopes that we could have a carefree day ;) I do think Tugger will knock that number down, he's been doing so well, and he handled the last hubby screw up just fine.

Seriously? How hard is it? I tell the man, "floor food is on this shelf and is marked with carb content. Feed low carb to higher numbers and if number is very low you can feed over 5% but NEVER PUT GRAVY FOOD ON THE FLOOR." I also told him "high carb food is marked with a B (for Bella and BB) and is ONLY fed on the counter. I keep them on different shelves so it's easy to keep track of and I also write on the top of the cans" The third thing I told him was "If you are unsure (if I forget to write on cans) DO NOT FEED TO TUGGER. If you are unsure give it to the counter feeders. Better safe than sorry."

This is at LEAST the third time he's jacked this feeding thing up and I'ma kill him. Seriously. I simply can NOT make this any more idiot proof can I??? If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate them because I'm fresh out.

It sounds like you have a lot to choose from & although marked.. can be confusing.. how about just sticking to low carb only & then no matter what is picked you cannot go wrong? The less options the better.. meaning it sounds like you have a complex system over there for those of us easily confused :?
I started with different % carbs, but just ended up keeping low carb only & especially when she went down to such a low dose.. we did not need any MC. I do have a hypo kit, but it sits in the very back covered up. Feeding all kitties the same will help alleviate this or that for this or that cat :-D Good luck, I know it is frusturating!!

Happy Day 12 Tugger and Marvie you know how it is with men the more idiot proof the better maybe put Tuggers food in a completely different area/cabinet and mark it for just Tugger's food would he understand that you think :lol: jeez hope his number comes down I am sure it will try not to stress and kill the DH

I can see a mistake maybe once, but seriously, how many times? (What I don't understand is how MY DH got into YOUR house? :o )
And Tugger is no better...I mean, SERIOUSLY, HE should have known better. I know what happened..Tugger thought the special HC food was for him to celebrate his OTJ party two days early!! Maybe your expectations are a little too high.. Did you ever think of that? maybe feeding the cat is a chore that he will have to work UP to....

But BOY, what a number that is for Tugger today!
At day 12 that HAS to set some sort of record or something!!! :lol:

I can't wait till the day when we can all laugh about this. After all your hard work and your instructions and the labeling of the cans and the plan...of this one on the floor and this one on the counter..and all that YOU did...and poof, in one morning it is all thrown right out the window!
Your SS and all the things you have done to get Tugger to this very day...and BAM....the two of them screw this all up like this!! I am now laughing....we know that Tugger will bring his numbers down shortly...but seriously! On day 12???!!

Well, alternative #1 - don't let him feed the cats. Make the dogs his responsibility (feeding and pooper scooping) and since he can't feed the cats, his job is the LB. (From the way you're describing things, it sounds like he could be giving the cats the dogs' food.)

Alternative #2 - put the "counter food" on the counter or at least leave the can for the next feeding sitting out.

Alternative #3 - color code the marker color to a food bowl. Of course, even if you do that, it doesn't mean he'll remember which color bowl is for Tugger.

Alternative #4 - Same as #3 but also put a name tag on the cats' bowls that has the color code and/or whether it's LC or not.

Alternative #5 - get HIM to come up with a method for feeding that cats that he will remember. And if he doesn't, he gets to sleep in the crate with the dogs.

Is there any chance that your other kitties will eat LC? It sounds like the only way to make this truly idiot proof is for everyone to be eating the same food. It make my life much easier once Gabby and Gizmo were eating the same food. If the civvies like chunky food, there is a FF chunky chicken that's LC.

Marvie has done so much already and you are adding a whole other list of things for HER to do! :lol:
Taking the job away from him is the only way....or else you just have to dispose of the man.

I heard that there is one brain for all the men on earth...they have to share it. SO, if there is one man who is thinking and using the brain a the moment, the others have to go without! I don't know if that's true, but my personal research is tipping the scales to believe that it is gospel! :lol:
Does he mow the lawn or do something else around the house that justifies his existence? If so, then keep him.
(I am brutal when I have a broken night's sleep...) sorry.... :lol:

When is he going back to Japan? I am sure just getting used to him back after 2 years and screwing up the food is sending you over the bend.
They are what they are. I have a case of FF beef that I don't want to use that much since I think Max's numbers did get a bit higher but did DH remember?
I came downstairs this morning to see 3 cans of beef in the sink, not even a mix.
If you need to get a job done properly you got to do it yourself.

Tugger will be fine and I would not worry about his little treat today.
Max is holding the condos next dorr for Tugger and Scrabble.
He is so excited for the parties.

Hey Marvie! This story is hilarious!! Of course Tugger will bring himself down in a few hours. Test again then and don't record the 175. Why screw up his records!!! As for DH. Don't forget he's a military man. He's probably used to eating MREs out of cans. They probably all taste the same. Why should the cats get anything different?? I would forgive him (just this once)!

Is it ok that I'm ROTFLMAO? Sorry.... hahahaha!!! This is such a funny condo. My heart truly feels for you Marvie, but....I can't stop laughing!

Pat, if on a jury, I'd vote for acquittal too because it's "Justifiable homicide." :lol:
 
Well, see every time I'm ready to kill him... Tugger saves the day :mrgreen:

I tried feeding everyone LC for simplicity. Bella went on hunger strike and started chasing the dog off his food. He, the big wuss, will let her. That's when I discovered the only way to get Bella to eat wet food at all is if it's HC. She's a picky princess because it can't just be HC, she can't have beef and she only likes small bits not big chunks. BB is almost as bad but she will eat LC if that's all there is. Tux will also eat LC though prefers HC. Echo and Tugger eat LC exclusively. Echo is only just now getting brave enough to explore the upper levels of the house so he'll probably be getting into the HC foods before long too, leaving only poor Tugger eating the LC :lol:

I could feed Bella separately, and if I have to I will. I could feed her in the bathroom and keep her HC food there I guess, if I don't put TP or cleaning supplies under the sink....

It would be easiest for me (the person who spends 2 hours per day feeding the cats and don't forget the 4 daily feedings the dogs get) if he'd either not feed at all or just take the two seconds to pay attention. I do rather like the suggestion to assign all doggie feeding and scooping and LB duties to hubby. He's put me in charge of training Isis so since he's put that whole burden on me he should take some other ones off. The other possible is letting him re-organize it himself and then I can just learn his method.

Right now he's off trading the very expensive Kitty Massage Chair/Cat Perch (they are the only ones who have used it since we bought it 5 years ago) for a very nice hope chest, which I will find infinitely more useful, and the cats will still have a place to nap. Win/Win :mrgreen: (The tempurpedic bed has massage, so even hubby isn't loosing out by letting go of the chair)

Oh and hubby isn't going back to Japan. He's moved back to stay. But, on a happy note :mrgreen: he'll be getting underway a LOT more than I had originally thought with this new boat. He'll start going out by the end of this month and he'll be in and out a lot pretty much from now through the summer. I'll get breaks, Isis will learn to deal with his absences easier than if he had stayed here till he suddenly had a big long underway period, and life will be good ;)
 
oh lordie be - can i ever relate to this. :lol: and yes, not funny - but been there done that. I finally, after many badwords, had to take over the feeding aspect of life here. And when the dumb*** has to feed, only the allowable amount and type is left out. shessshhhhh.... :lol: :lol: He, DH, means well, but just keeps messing up. I like CD's comment: justifiable homicide... and i hate to admit it, but still laughing.....

well it is all good in the end. I'm sure Tugger will be fine, looks like he's already cleared that AMBG, and on to day 12! party on the horizon. Mannie is so excited to think that there is another sugarbaby about to pack bags for the falls....
 
Whoo Hoo for that +2 number Tugger you saved your Mama Bean from kicking Dad Bean out on the street :lol: you maybe planned this whole thing just to get tasty HC :-D
Hey Marvie since DH is going to be around extended now sounds like he is going to need a lot of re-training btw my DH came in when I was reading your post earlier and laughed and said that is why I do not feed anybody unless you lay it out with a note saying who its for :lol:
 
This post was so funny it should be published. I totally cracked up. I can't imagine my BF would ever volunteer to feed anyway, but he did stop by while I was on vacation and tried to give feral snarling beast (a.k.a. Kasha) shredded chicken from the fridge, which he knew was a "safe" food. I don't know if he would be brave enuf to open a can, even with the list of instructions taped to the shelf in case ANYONE stops by and thinks to feed - LOL...
 
ROFLMAO!!!! After tears reading all the wonderful messages on Scrabble's condo I get to Tugger's and can't stop laughing!!! Hubbies can be pretty dumb huh? I have to pretty much spell everything out for mine too, luckily both of mine eat the same food so that is hard to screw up!!! Well at least now you know Tugger's pancreas is working perfectly, I can't believe your +2 # that is awesome!!! Marvie, I don't know how you do it with all your furbabies!!!!! Scrabble can't wait to see Tugger at the party tomorrow, he is reserving a condo right next door to his!!!

Thank you for remembering us in Scrabble's condo. You KNOW Hank can't wait for ya'll to get here...and of course we've got you a nearby one with a view of the pool. It's going to be total party-time!! dancing_cat dancing_cat So far no curfew, but we'll have to see how they behave once all back together.

I have laughed all the way through this condo, and I don't mean to laugh at you, Marvie, it's just that so many of us can apparently relate. My DHW's only saving grace is that all 3 kitties get the same food, or else I would probably be writing an identical condo to this one. :-D If it makes you feel any better, the other morning mine thought that a 186 was too low to increase a dose on. :?: :!: :shock:

I am thrilled that Tugger brought himself back down so well, and at least now you know what will happen if he does eat HC food, right? :smile:

P.S. I'm with everyone else who voted for "justifiable homicide". ;-)
 
Oh, snort snort, chuckle chuckle!! I can laugh now since I read the whole condo, but at the beginning, I'm telling you, I was more than willing to come over and give you a hand in disposing of your DH for such a fubar, especially on day 12!! I must say, you handled it very well!!
I am so absolutely happy that Tugger brought his numbers down and possibly saved your DH's life as he knows it.

Spot is so happy that tomorrow will be here soon so he can party with Tugger at Scrabble's OTJ (antijinx) party and w/ Scrabble at Tugger's (antijinx).
