But, don't count on him always being a late nadir cat. Some food left is always going to be ideal when he is in a green number. The overweight civvie is not going to be in as much danger eating some of Silver's food as Silver will be without it. IMHO.
I dunno how many times I've said I can't leave foood out. Sasha always gets to it first so it will not make any difference to Silver.

That PMPS # is a red flag possibly indicating Silver went too low today. I echo what @Bobbie And Bubba is saying. Probably safer to keep them separate so that Silver does have food. Now that his other medical issues are resolved/resolving he may very well drop down the dose ladder. That’s what you want after all. When going down that ladder you earn reductions by going low. Keeping them separated will be temporary until Silver settles in on a dose. He’s certainly working the juice!

I've heard the advice. Please both of you @Bobbie And Bubba @Beenie (GA) read previous condos and realize why this is NOT possible. I'm not going to keep repeating myself. He is bouncing. It happens. Not necessarily because he went too low but lower than he is used to. I am not new at this game.

He also has inverted curves. Also stated many times. His preshot is his lowest.

Makes no sense saying keeping them separate is temporary until Silver settles on a dose. His dose will keep changing as he earns reductions. I cannot cannot separate them. Easy to give advice when you don't know my living situation and have not read previous condos.

I know how difficult it is for you to get to the vet. It would be great if you could find a mobile vet who could draw blood for you.

I remember you saying your vet wanted fluids to get potassium in him. Do you know what his potassium level was on his last blood test?
Potassium supplementation is difficult without bloodwork and monitoring; too much or too little can cause serious issues.

Diabetic cats often have lower blood potassium because the insulin causes the potassium to be taken up by the cells.

here's is a link with information on potassium issues. http://www.felinecrf.org/potassium.htm

this info is directed at ckd cats but with all Silver has been thru....
that's why your vet wants to get more bloodwork to see if his levels have stabilized back to normal.

Wish it were possible. It's not. He is getting extra potassium in his bag. I'll continue til it's finished. Vet is really dumb and caused this issue of DKA by not giving antibiotics after the dental. He just wants a check up to see if the potassium levels have improved. They were only low due to the DKA and infection which are both cleared up. He is being over precautious. I cannot take him to vet this Saturday or the next. Both of us are done with the vet for now.

Happiest of birthdays to your special boy!!! Oh Juliet, you have such a tough case. Maybe you should have Silver read the stickies.

I know I risk your wrath and you getting upset with me, I know that both Bobbie and Michelle are aware of the difficulties.
As silver proved to you the other day he is perfectly capable of nadiring at +6.
Many cats will nadir earlier than usual when they are on a reduction earning cycle. Sure he may be bouncing from going into numbers that are just lower than he's been used to, but equally he may have have been dipping his toe into lime green. (Unless you are psychic, you just do not know)You have to be open to that as a possibility, especially now as Silver is recovering from his dental it's important to be watchful for any change in the numbers and the possibility that the healing of his mouth will impact those numbers.

Consider this, having an autofeeder that only Silver can access, I know their cost is a prohibitive, would be more cost effective than a trip to ER vet, or you having to miss work. Dont you think?

It's plain for all of us to see that you care deeply for silver, please understand that we are just concerned that especially in this phase that he is entering now you might need to consider taking different measures to those you have previously, because stuff is changing.

Think back to this recent dka episode, look at the advice and warnings folk here shared with you, our fears were not unwarranted as it turned out were they?

Please know that this is coming from a good place, and some of us have seen hypo incidents unfold infront of eyes, not always with a good outcome.
We would like to spare you that experience.
What if instead of coming home to a Dark green number you came home to a LO reading on the meter?

I've already responded time and time again on this issue and I will not keep repeating myself.

You’ve been given some very good, very heartfelt advice. Let it percolate quietly in your mind for a bit rather than shutting it down outright. No need to change anything right now but do give it time to sink in. That can let ideas germinate so you figure out new approaches that work for you in your particular circumstances.
It's NOT possible for me to free feed OR shut him away. Please just get that message and move on or you will drive me and Silver from this board.

They do. Hence me unable to separate them for the day despite folks on here. Got complaints from my landlord due to the racket they made when I did.
Dang, they do LOVE each other, how cute :DWould a microchip feeder help? That what I had to do with Bella, if I left food down the other 3 would gobble it, bella is the only one who can open it, someone on here gave it to me

Hi Juliet. I know you don't want suggestions, but I just had to share. If you think these wouldn't work, then please ignore. Anyways, these feeders can only be opened by the cats that is wearing the specific collar tag associated with it. https://www.chewy.com/ourpets-wonder-bowl-selective-pet/dp/142948 . If you don't think this would be viable, please ignore. :)
I've not seen that one before, it's much more economical than other microchip feeders I've seen before, good find.

Comment to all - I believe we are to only comment in the current condo. This condo is closed. There is a new one. I will not be back in this one.
