I knew increasing Hamilton from 8u to 10u was risky, but I used his numbers from prior carb responses to calculate the best increase (safety and response). It’s his 3rd cycle and his curve is back in business. I’ll keep working him down and then try to move from 50/50 to 75/25 renal diet. I’m trying to balance getting him the best renal care without throwing his system out of whack. Who knows how much time we have, so I can’t imagine making him live uncomfortably for more than necessary.
For those unfamiliar with Hamilton’s case, DO NOT COPY. He has diabetes, end stage CKD, acromegaly, and a heart murmur. The lesson here is to know your cat! Get those tests, gather your data, and learn all you can from the board!
