Yesterday's Condo

I am sitting in an exam room at the vet's office with Harvey chirping at my side. Sasha is having bloodwork, urinalysis, xray, etc. done and we are waiting. They found a small lump on her right shoulder, and they are aspirating it. She was congested today, so the vet got to hear her. I think she's going to put her on pred.

Harvey had no issues in his exam, and he does not yet need a dental (yay!), but will come back in August for bloodwork and they'll check his teeth again then.

Cinco was very hungry this morning. He wolfed down both breakfasts without hesitation. I thought that might mean he was low, but it looks like we finally got that bounce I've been expecting. Nice of him to do that when I had to be gone all afternoon! I see China has taught him well. :-D

Ooops, Sasha's back. More later.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :YMHUG:

Yay for a good report on Harvey. I'm sending out good vetty vines for Sasha. I hope that lump is just a normal ol' kitty cat lump.

Good job cooperating for the bean today, Cinco!

Re: 5/7 Cinco PMPS 167

Thanks for stopping by, Shelly. Always nice to hear from you. I like to know that Jersey has not yet succeeded in causing your demise!

I didn't expect Cinco to clear that bounce that quickly. Makes me wonder where he was between +5 and PMPS! Guess that'll just be his little secret. ;-) Now I get to see where he goes from here....! He was a little nitwit at first tonight about eating. Sometimes he doesn't want to eat on the counter where he gets his shot, so after we're done I set him and the plate on the family room floor, and he eats just fine. Tonight he just walked around it and went to the screen door to sniff the air, then into the living room to his current favorite spot in there. I followed to each spot with the plate. He finally gave it a good sniff in the living room, then paused while I held my breath (for dramatic effect, I'm sure), and cleaned the plate! Geez! Like I don't have enough stress right now!

Sasha did not even wait for me to back out of the driveway before throwing up all over the carrier! I was surprised, because she had thrown up her breakfast earlier and I had only allowed her a couple of bites after that, since I knew we were leaving in three hours and she gets carsick. At least I wasn't driving when she did it, so I hopped out and quickly cleaned up the mess, put in a new pee pad (always prepared) and disposed of the debris before hopping back in and starting again. She didn't throw up any more, but cried pitifully several times on the way - Mama, my tummy hurts! I don't feel good, Mama. Take me home! I felt like a monster. She was a very good girl through all the testing, poking, etc. at the vet's. She always is and they adore her there. We came home with Clavamox and Prednisolone, but a low dose of the latter until the radiologist can evaluate the x-rays. The vet okayed using Zyrtec or Benadryl until the AB and Pred start making her feel better. She also said she didn't think either the L-lysine or SEB caused the shaking I witnessed last week. She thinks it has more to do with old age and the natural deterioration of things in the body, but she wants to know if it happens again. She pointed out a spot on Sasha's back on the x-ray that showed arthritis in one of the lower vertebrae. I told her I'd never seen any signs of pain or discomfort. Something else to watch for! She thought putting all the kitties on the L-lysine was a good idea, with Cinco's diagnosis of FHV. She will call tomorrow with test results - hopefully all of them. I'm trying not to worry about that lump, but it is in the right area for the vaccine sarcoma they worry about. nailbite_smile She was quiet on the way home and did not get sick again.

Harvey cried the whole way there, but was mostly quiet going home. I don't know if he just wore himself out or knew I was driving as fast as I could!

Sasha was very hungry and ate her dinner with enthusiasm, but to my relief did not scarf it down. Perhaps unwisely, I put her in the sack when she was done and gave her the meds (I probably should have waited an hour to make sure she held the food down - I'll do that tomorrow). It was only mildly upsetting and we got each one down on the first try. I gave her some Benadryl and some Allerplex, while I was at it! She ate a few bites more afterward, but I won't give her any more food until I'm sure everything is staying down. She just came into the kitchen, looking for more. Half an hour to go, baby!

Cinco just made his "I went poo" announcement, so I guess I'd better go scoop his royal lb! Sorry for the long, mostly Civvie-centered condo. Hope everyone is having a good evening.

This is one of those days I get tired reading Cinco's condo. Paws crossed for good vetty results from Sasha. Pretty nice numbers for Cinco for a bounce. :-D Naughty him on teasing you on the fuds this evening.

Your story of Sasha throwing up reminded me of Lisa/Leo who had to take Leo on a commute every week (worked away from home). She used to drive up and down the drive way for a few minutes every time she was getting ready to go, just to get rid of that initial puke. Is Sasha on glucosamine or fish oil? Neko gets both for her arthritis. Acrokitties can get a type of spinal arthritis and my Buster (GA) also had spinal arthritis.

Hi Wendy. Sorry to load my condo down like that. I guess this is my outlet for all I'm dealing with. Cinco has just been through so much this past year or so, and then the others start having issues. I feel like I'm going to explode sometimes if I don't talk to someone.

Yes, Sasha has been on Cosequin since she was a couple of years old. She has some kind of congenital deformity in her back legs and had a lot of pain when she was young. The vet thought she might need surgery eventually, but she's 13.5 years old and (knock on wood) has been doing fine for quite some time. I can't swear it's the Cosequin that has helped her, but I wouldn't take it out of her diet, just in case! She is VERY active - a typical Aby. She jumps and climbs and runs around like she is still a kitten. I did have her on fish oil years ago because she had very dry skin and lots of dander. I can't remember why I stopped it. but it's been some time ago. She hasn't thrown up this evening, btw (anti-jinx), so when I went up to check on her a little while ago, I offered her some more food and she was happy to polish it off. The benadryl has kicked in - she was not snuffling and snorting as she ate, and she had been sound asleep when I got up there.

Cinco is not being as social this evening as he had been. He's sacked out in the living room by himself. He spent the whole day in the family room, and I guess spending the morning around me was enough for him!

Tricia - we all understand how overwhelming things can be. :YMHUG: This is the place to talk about it. You are a great mom to your fur-kids. My civie Theo was first diagnosed with cystitis one week after Neko was Dx with FD. It's been a very busy time for you lately.

Nice bounce clearing by Cinco. I'm glad Harvey had a good vetty visit. Sending prayers for Sasha to have good test results. I hope the new meds help her. Don't feel bad about talking about your civvies here. We're here to support you and your other furbabies too. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

(((Tricia))), I was trying to post before bed and it wouldn't load, then I couldn't get on. I see there is an update now, and I'm so sorry you're going through all this stress  . I'm glad Sasha ate and was sounding better last night, and that Harvey had a good vet visit! Sweet Cinco, I'm happy to see he gave you a nice day so you didn't have to worry about him. Too bad he decided he wanted some plate chasing in the evening :o Sometimes I have enough of people too and want to be by myself ;-) It sounds like a day with ups and downs, and all arounds. I hope you got some rest overnight. I hope that the rest of the tests come back good. (I'm not very eloquent this early in the morning  ). I wanted to make sure I let you know I was thinking of you and all your fur family while I could get on here. Vines to all your sweeties, and comfort/anti stress ones to you...and Many hugs to you :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Your condo is the perfect place for unloading like that...we all know exactly how you feel.

I'm so sorry you had a rough visit with sweet little Sasha...poor baby girl! I hope all goes well with her tests. I always feel SO horrible taking my cats to the vet....them being scared is by far the worst part of the whole experience!

FWIW, if it comes to it, my GA Civie Mario was on Adequan for almost 2 years. We never did x-rays, but he obviously had a bad back and very bad arthritis. It took a little while to kick in (more patience pants required!), but he adequan was a miracle for him. So I personally do recommend it, if it comes down to Sasha needing something more than cosequin.

Sending hugs and prayers!!!
