Last Condo (Cinco/Cinco Day):
Sorry to have been AWOL yesterday. It was a long, busy day, and as usual, I didn't get to sit down at the PC until very late.
Cinco has been continuing his lovely numbers. No lagoon visit yesterday during the day cycle - at least on record. However, he may have been there while I was out - little sneak!
Today I have an errand I need to run, so he's doing his best to keep me home. Hopefully the next test will give me a permission slip. I'll be gone for 60-90 minutes.
Yesterday was Minka's chemo. To my amazement, her weight was actually up a few ounces!
The oncologist was very pleased. Unfortunately, her anemia is worse. They gave her a shot of iron - she responded well the last time they did that, so they're hoping that happens again. An Internal Medicine specialist was consulted, and they decided to wait and see how her iron is next visit. If it is not significantly better, they'll start her on a supplement (Darbepoetin), but they're hoping to avoid it, as it is very expensive. I hope we can avoid it, too!!!
The doctors think the weakness in her back legs may be related to the anemia, and want us to watch her to see if it improves (as if we weren't already watching her like a hawk
). She didn't want anything to eat yesterday morning, but I got about a tablespoon of baby food into her. I took along some turkey, and when we got back in the car after her treatment, I offered her a couple of slices. She wolfed it down!
She ate fairly well the rest of the evening. This morning she didn't want the entree I offered (Dave's Chicken & Tuna Pate), but she jumped on the alternative - Avoderm Salmon Consomme. It's higher in Phosphorus than I would like, but she ate almost a whole 3 oz can, so I'm going to focus on the eating part and ignore the rest for now!!
Sasha is still having summer appy - although the weather cooled off here. She ate okay yesterday, with lots of seasoning, and the same today. She threw up a little this morning, but it didn't stop her from nibbling on her breakfast. I gave her some Ondansetron, just to be safe.
Harvey was slow to eat his breakfast, but eventually polished it off and has been begging refills ever since. I wonder if he needed his morning Pepcid to kick in, first? I started giving him some in the morning, as well as the evening, and I think it's helping him.
I need to run up to Napa (about 30 minutes away) to mail some wine to my sister that she bought while she was here. Stupid CA rules won't let you just mail wine via UPS - you have to go to a "wine shipper", and they are all located near the wineries. I hate afternoon traffic coming back - all the tasters headed home - so I want to get out the door soon to get back before the wineries start to close at 4-5. Cinco, Mama needs you to be rising on this next test, which will be without food! Please?
Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans.
Special prayers for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF, DH and DGD, Marje's DM, Chris' DM and Elise's DM.
