Thanks for the replies to my questions yesterday @carfurby and @Wendy&Neko! For surgery, I will likely just skip her insulin that AM, that's what we've done in recent years for her dentals and all has been fine. Her dose is so small at this point that it's the easiest thing to do. I'll spend the week trying to gather more comprehensive data about her BG and fill in some of the blanks.

@AliceMeowliss&Cassandra Thanks for your response last night Cassandra! I read through many of your threads about Alice's surgery and they were very helpful. I saw the same data about malignancy from Cornell and that is why I was leaning towards an aggressive approach even from the beginning. We are lucky that there are a few boarded surgeons in our area and decided with our regular vet (once she realized the lump was near Noodle's mammary glands, she didn't do the exam the day we took her in) to see one ASAP. We have an appointment on 5/13 and they'll do surgery the same day, most likely a full chain mastectomy. The lump that seems "new" is definitely larger than how you describe Alice's, but because the aspiration was inconclusive we don't even know if it's actually a tumor at this point. Incredibly frustrating, but I would rather act as if it is now, as opposed having to do multiple surgeries. I'm certainly ok with feeling like I've overreacted at the end of this!! I really appreciate your insight and am glad Alice has been doing well in the months since her procedure. :cat:

Hi! I’m glad to hear Noodles has a plan in place already! I would rather take the aggressive approach personally than end up with metastatic cancer in places that can’t simply be cut out. I think as long as Noodles is stable in other ways allowing for anesthesia to be safe etc, that an aggressive approach to this cancer is best. I will be interested in the histopathology report when you get it back!

Did you happen to see any old postings with Alice in her shirt sleeve tube top? She hated her cone and was sneaking out of it so the one thing I feel I did that helped was give her something less depressing to wear to keep her away from her stitches.

I feel like it is difficult to describe the size of Alice’s lump, in part because of fur around it, also going from when I first noticed it to when someone told me what it actually was to when it started growing more as she started putting weight back on. If I can find the report I’ll check and see what size it was once it was excised.

An aggressive approach to literally everything with Alice is all that has worked for us! My best you you and Noodles, tag me on surgery day (if you think of it); I’ll check back in. :)
