Hi All Do Lou is doing well today all P's in place we went on yet another hike to see orchids at red river gorge ky went last week to see pink lady slippers and showy orchis (spelling) and went today to see yellow lady slippers that bloom on one trail there and was delighted so see about 12. Saw more pinks as well. Was saddened at the entire area being burnt recently due to a careless campfire is what the sign said this is the second burn area we have hiked in this spring due to signs posted campers not being careful sad to see vast areas burnt due to humans being stupid. Anyway had a nice day I am a spring wildflower nut and love orchids very much  Got home to a Do Lou who had ignored his automat again he did this last week too sigh.... funny how he eats from it sometimes and other times just does not touch it.

Orchids grow wild? I'm jealous, Lisa. The nicest thing I get to see is the Trillium in the woods behind my house.
Wanna come here and see my dandelions?
That's a nice pretty blue for Do Lou.
What a shame that people can be so careless with fire; it's so avoidable.

Lisa, are you pretty much healed?

Hi Lisa,
So nice to see Do Lou's condo and to see him doing well. And you, too! Your hike to enjoy the wild orchards and other wildflowers sounds wonderful. Our group has a Pink Ladyslipper hike too, but it won't be for a while yet. One of the women I hike with has a tremendous knowledge of wild plants and she loves pointing them out. It won't be long now!
Awful about the careless campers. We have come upon campsites where people have left the fire burning and these fires, because they travel underground on the roots, are impossible to put out without proper equipment. We always report them to the nearest Ranger station.
Have a lovely weekend and I hope you are feeling better these days. How is your fur household?

Ella & Rusty

Do Lou is looking great, Lisa!! The hike sounds wonderful. Kinda wish I was heading back to my parents' house for Mother's Day. Lady slippers and bluebells in bloom, and morels to be found! Alas, no such fun for me. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

Great to see Do Lou back and in BLUE!

I miss the midwest wildflowers, but we have lots of CA poppies and lupine.

Hi Lisa - wonderful on the hike, and the orchids!! I remember you posting a photo last year of a very rare one you were watching, hoping to see it in full bloom. It was so pretty - I imagine that the ones today were too. I am sorry to read about the burn area - unfortunately we have them too. I just keep hoping people will be more careful.....

It i so good to read that Do Lou is doing well. YAY! makes me very happy.

Hoping I got some good pics today will be loading them on the computer tomorrow I do get so excited over flowers

You are all making me extremely jealous. If I go on a hike, know what I see? Some of the ugliest desert anywhere. Nevada desert looks like scrubland. Arizona desert is gorgeous. We do have Red Rock Canyon close by and it's quite spectacular, but I would love to see some green. Maybe I'll take a little trip up to Mount Charleston since the snow is gone (I've never driven in snow so I'm too chicken to drive up there in the winter!!). It's only about 45 minutes away. Ooohh, maybe my daughter and I can go up and have lunch at the lodge one day!! Ya'll are inspiring me!!

Thanks for stopping by Abby's condo! I must say I love Do Lou's lil face! He reminds me of Puss from Shrek when he gets those weepy sad eyes with the huge pupils
