We're having another crappy appy start to the day, but she has eaten a bit. She did go through her morning rituals and snuggles, she has taken all her meds (with pill pockets, so that probably fills her up a bit since she has 5 of them) and overall I do think she is much better. We just need to work on this appy component. I gave her an eighth of a cypro and am waiting for it to kick in. It seems to take the cypro a bit longer for it to start working with her than it does for others...maybe closer to an hour. She ultimately ate pretty well last night, but she really still needs to be encouraged - 99% of the time I need the hold the plate up and remind her to eat, but she is often fairly enthusiastic about it. She just doesn't seem to want to go for it on her own if I leave a plate and walk away. And she still will only eat small quantities at a time, which is probably better for her little body right now. I think SHE would be happier, too, if she ate on her own....she's not always a fan of all this attention and a nagging bean. If she ate, she'd have more of her personal space back to herself!

This is all making for one very, very exhausted bean. My head is pounding and the thought of going to work (and teaching today) is stressful.

Elise - to answer your question from yesterday's condo: The 1/4 of a cypro tablet didn't make Trix vocal, but she did seem somewhat restless. She wanted to eat, came looking for food, but wasn't committing to too much. In between snacks, she was having a harder time relaxing. However, she did eat better during the evening hours, so I do wonder if that was the tail end of that 1/4 tablet working well.

Gonna try to get her to munch a bit, then BTB.....

Have a great day, LL.

Amy

Re: 5/5 Trixie AMBG 95

I left a plate where she was snoozing when I went BTB. At some point, she got up and changed sleeping locations. She bypassed the plate - left the fuds untouched. I just brought the same plate to her in her rocking chair and she CPCed it.

She has also decided that Fancy Feast is better than Purina One today. She obviously knows I went to the store and stocked up on Purina One yesterday ohmygod_smile .

I wish I knew what was going on in her fuzzy little head  ....

Re: 5/5 Trixie AMBG 95

Morning Amy, checking in on Trixie and her wonderful Bean. I kept getting an "Oops IE erro"r message yesterday on the Board but seems better today.

Sending Trixie appy vines today and paws and fingers crossed she eats on her own. I know how much this worries you.
Sending comfort vines for you and vines for the teaching to go well. Hugs and scritches from Katie and me. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Morning Amy ~O) ~O) ~O)

Awesome start today for Trixie, BG wise. These numbers are fantastic.

Sending appy vines for Trixie. I so remember dealing with this with Mannie when he was recovering too. I'd follow with the plate, hold it, encourage too, until he ate what I knew he needed. It was stressful... oh yes too on the fuds. He'd like one, I'd stock up, and then he was onto another one. sheshhh! We'd go back and forth with the fuds all the time. I was just happy that he ate, anything. I think Trixie is doing well, it's a long haul sometimes to get them all well. She's doing great! It seems that you have found the right dose of the cypro for her too.

Have a great day today. I hope all goes well.

Re: 5/5 Trixie AMBG 95

I'm finally signed in again! I hope this posts. I'm glad to see Trix and her BGs still looking beautiful  . I'm so sorry that she still isn't going to eat on her own, but it's awesome she is eating when presented with the fuds, and feeling better :-D . I did much bowl chasing in the last year...What a good girl, to take all her meds. It's so difficult when they refuse pill pockets! :?

I hope you managed to get a bit more sleep, Amy. It's exhausting just to worry, I know, I'm a worry wart that cannot shut it off. I'm sending vines to both of you, and hugs :YMHUG: . I hope your work goes fast and Trixie improves even more while you are gone  .

Eat yer fuds, Trix! Wow on the BG, that is amazing! So nice you don't have to worry about that right now. We think it takes about an hour for the cypro to kick in with Zener too. Big hugs!

Hi Amy,
Sending more appy vines to Trixie.
It's good that she eats as long as you hold her plate. :-D
It's wonderful you don't have to worry about her BG at the moment. :-D
I'm glad she's comfortable and snuggly. :-D
Thumbs up for taking all her meds with pill pockets. :-D

Biiiiig hugs to you, Amy!

Re: 5/5 Trixie AMBG 95

Hi Amy:

I think you are right about the pill pockets filling her up. Five is a lot for a little cat. I know when I give them as treats (to keep the cats liking them, I do that occasionally, so they don't automatically associate pills with them) three to four is as many as even Harvey will eat.

I was wondering if you have weighed her lately? Perhaps if you could see what her weight is doing while all this is going on, it would help you get a better picture of whether or not she is really getting enough fuds. Just a thought.

Sending lots of appy vines and calming vines and hugs!! :YMHUG:

Re: 5/5 Trixie AMBG 95 - Pic

Came home to check on her and this is what I found:

Someone had eaten the little bit of food I left out...could have been either Trix or Frankie (the boys won't touch that mushy crap!)...hopefully it was Trix. She just CPCed the snack I offered :-D ! Now, Trix, just do that without MamaBean holding the plate!!

You're right, Tricia...I should try to weigh her. She definitely looked like she lost a bit when this first started, but she actually does APPEAR stable now, but I don't know that for sure.

Back to work....

Awww.....if there can't be bean-kitty snuggles, there's nothing better than kitty-kitty snuggles. What a pair of cuties!

Sending more appy vines Trixie's way!

It has been a mixed bag this evening....Trix ate a portion of her first dinner AND an additional small portion without MamaBean nagging! And, she ate even a little more WITH MamaBean nagging.

But, in an attempt to make me totally crazy, I could not get her to take her famotidine on schedule for the life of me. In the grand scheme...I got "the biggies" in with minimal issue...the BP meds, cerenia, and cypro. By the time I got to the famotidine, though, she was done with popping pills no matter how much FortiFlora I dusted them with. As hard as it was, because I hate unresolved issues, I made myself walk away and put in a workout. I tried again when I was done, and she did take it. It was an hour an a half off schedule, but it is down. Phew. I do have liquid famotidine as a back up, but she really really hates it so I wanted to avoid using it if at all possible.

Oh my head...

But now I can smile because she just jumped down off the chair and ate a wee bit more food all on her own.....time to replenish the plate!

Sounds like a great day of progress for little Miss Trixie. :-D I was thinking the same as Tricia that weighing her periodically would be a good idea.

BTW, day 13 without insulin, but who's counting.

Hi Amy,
I'm glad that Trixie ate some on her own. Every day, better and better!! Hang in there. Just think how much improvrd she is from a few weeks ago.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Yea for Trixie eating some on her own! You are under a lot of stress right now caring for Trixie. Sending prayers for Trixie's continued improvement. The workout was a great idea. What a cute picture...
