Very relieved for you both! All paws crossed here his insulin needs will come down sooner rather than later and without too much dramatics. I might "go easy" with the R unless he's super high for a little bit to see what the L dose is doing. Just my 2 cents which isn't worth much ;)
 
So happy to hear Bronx is back home with you. I remember how stressful it was when I had to leave Uncle to get his radiation treatment (thyroid). Fingers crossed for seeing good results sooner than later.
Hope you can spend some good time hanging out with him this weekend :bighug:

Hi Karen, you 2 cents is worth a lot! I will try to go easier on the R, especially at night but I did give him some today. He was too high at the hospital so trying to get him back to where he was.
 
I am going to be a contrarian. I think R is a great tool in this case. I would go conservative with the Levemir and use R a bit more instead. That way if his Lev dose needs reduce quickly, you have less of the big L depot hanging around. At this point in Neko's dance (first SRT). I moved to reductions if below 70, to give me a little buffer for safety. I wasn't quite as conservative the second time, but I had a better handle on her cycles and still did some back to back reductions that held or if she hit the 50's and it seemed like she wanted less juice. Also know that sometimes the need for less juice will seem to come out of the blue and surprise you. Exciting times. :cool:

That is a good point, we need to be cautious about that huge depot. How quick did you see results with Neko after the 1st SRT? How about other cats done at CSU? Dr. Lewis said he has seen as quick at 2 weeks to as long as 6 months & one cat never responded out of the 3 dozen he he has treated. But that was a different machine, this was the newest version of the Trilogy which is the one used at CSU. He said the CSU people will be coming out to see the new machine. Bronx went on the machine on its first day in service.
 
I reduced Neko for the ride home from CSU, as it was three days drive with few available stops for testing. She held the reduction and the next one came not long after. Basically she responded in the first week. Second time around it was a couple of weeks. More common is 2-3 months and it is possible increases will be needed in that time I think punkin responded fairly quickly too. CSU had one cat that didn't seem to respond too, when I asked the first time was there. We were cat 30 something at that time. We were also the first cat they, or anyone else, did SRT twice cause the tumour returned. I asked around, and Dr. Lynn at NCSU as well as the folks at CSU, had also heard of another cat that had a tumour return, but neither were treated a second time.

Side note on using R, heads up if you notice green and you stop needing R. It's a good indicator action is coming.
