I figured I would get Trix's condo going while I wait for the cypro to kick in...AND, while the board is actually up!

After a nerve-rattling start to the day yesterday, last evening, Trix ate really, really well....the best I've seen her eat in a couple weeks. I did touch base with the vetty-on-duty, since our vetty is on vacation, and talked to her about cerenia. She said to give 1/4 cerenia once a day for three days (starting last night), then switch to every other day. So, I did give Trix cerenia when I got home from work last night. She also did suggest on holding off on the ondansetron for now, too, partly to see how Trix does with the cerenia by itself, and partly because she is on SO many meds right now that she wants to go easy when and where possible. She likes the results she gets with the cerenia/famotidine combo. So, we'll see how this goes. I don't know if that is what helped her eat better last night or what, but maybe cerenia is a better choice for her than the ondansetron - at least for this moment??

Her appy isn't super great this morning, but it is better than it was yesterday. And, her demeanor seems so much closer to normal than I've seen since all of this started. She looks relaxed, and she is currently snuggled up with Zen. So, I guess we're still making baby steps forward with some blips like yesterday on the radar - and I know those blips are par for the course when recovering from p-titis, but man are they stressful. I was a pretty bummed out bean yesterday.

Yesterday, I had given her 1/4 of a cypro, despite my vetty's instructions to give her half. I know that "less is more" with cypro which is why I didn't give her half a tablet, but I did give her more than most folks here do just given her circumstances. It did make her interested in food, but didn't really make her EAT MORE food. Today, I did try cutting the cypro back to 1/8th of a tablet as everyone suggested yesterday, so we'll see how that goes. I also wonder if yesterday morning's cypro helped with last evening's appy...like, maybe during the day when it was at its peak, it just made her feel weird, but once it started settling out later in the day, THEN she got hungry??? Just thinking out loud...and grasping at straws for answers like we beans like to do.

Time to see if the cypro has started, then BTB for the bean. It's another work day and I am exhausted, but what can ya do? Have a great day, LL!

Amy

ETA - She just ate enough to satisfy her very fussy MamaBean, who is now heading BTB!

I'm glad Trixie is acting more normal. I hope the cypro helps and her appy continue to get better.

I'm glad your dad is getting better too. Sending more prayers for everyone.

I get exhausted just reading about all of the various aspects you're juggling right now. I can only imagine how exhausted you are. I'm sending lots more healing vines Trixie's way and lots of extra energy vines to you. I'm so glad that Trix is continuing to improve, even if it's just baby steps right now.

Re: 5/4 Trixie AMBG 93 - Better today

We've had two almost-CPCs so far this morning, AND we had a Mannie Fuds Dance :-D ! Fingers, paws, toes, legs. tails....everything is crossed and we are holding our breath.....

Re: 5/4 Trixie AMBG 93 - Better today

Morning Amy ~O) ~O) ~O)

WOOT! We had the Mannie's fuds dance! Now I KNOW Trixie is feeling better. YAHOO!

Good luck with the cerenia. It is the one we used too, rather than the ondansetron. My vet, and the IM vet we had were not huge fans of the ondansetron, as it can be a harsh drug, was used for cancer patients etc. I know many here will not agree with that, but that is what it is. My did use the drug, but did not recommend it in kitties that were dealing with so many other meds and medical issues, as Mannie was. The cerenia worked well for Mannie. Good luck, and I hope it will help get Trixie back to being even better than she is now. GO TRIXIE!!

The BG's are wonderful, really wonderful. How nice not to have to worry about that aspect of life, and can focus just on getting Trixie better. Looking GREAT Trixie!

I so remember those blips on the road to recovery when dealing with P'titis. so so stressful....

Have a great day Amy. I hope all goes well.

Re: 5/4 Trixie AMBG 93 - Better today

Hi Amy,
I'm so glad Trixie is improving little by little every day.

Lucy does that sometimes too, with any meds.
It doesn't kick in when it's supposed to, but hours later it seems to be doing its job.
But there's not pattern, it happens sometimes, and doesn't the other times.
My logic is that when she's sick, especially with her IBD issue, the oral pills get absorbed at a different rate/timing....

Sending more healing vines to Trixie.

Re: 5/4 Trixie AMBG 93 PMBG 130 - Better today

Thanks for the visits, everyone.

We're a little "high" tonight...I'll test again in a few hours to see what her pancreas has to say about this nailbite_smile .

I see glimmers of my old Trixie coming back. Her energy is not totally up, but she greeted me at the door when I got home. She followed me upstairs while I changed. She trotted in and out of the laundry room while I prepped meals. She gave me a Mannie Fuds Dance. She did eat a little bit, but we definitely still have some appy issues. I just gave her tonights cerenia and another smidge of cypro. I still have to get BP meds and famotidine into her, too. Fun stuff....

She brought it back down to green...go, Mr P!

Her appy is OK tonight...not as good as last night, but we're getting an OK amount of fuds in....

Sounds like you are finding the right combo. One of the reasons I like cypro is that you can dose twice a day as needed. I hope the 1/8 works well. I'm curious, did she get at all vocal on the 1/4?
