Hey guys, when should I repeat the urinalysis to make sure the UTI has been cleared? I usually repeat it after 7 days, and I've read online that it should between 7-14 days.
But I just talked to my vet and she wants to repeat it tomorrow. I think that's way too soon, he only finished the antibiotic last night.
Any thoughts on this?

Is he still showing any symptoms of the UTI? I see he was straining to pee when he was first diagnosed with the UTI.

You might want to add the "?" prefix to your thread title and a part of your question like "when to repeat urinalysis after UTI?" to attract more eyes.

Thank you, Bhooma. I've just updated the title. And no, he hasn't shown any symptoms since I began giving him antibiotics.

As long as the antibiotic is finished you can recheck. I dint think my vet dues that unless symptoms are still present though.

So you don't repeat the urinalysis if symptoms are not present?
If I shouldn't repeat it would be great, because Nao gets super stressed at the vet.
But she always tells me to do it in case the UTI is still present, and if so, we give antibiotics again. What confuses me right now it's that she has told me before to wait 7 days to repeat the test, and one time I took him after 6 days because he showed symptoms, and she told me I took him too soon. And now she is telling me to repeat it tomorrow because that's the way it should be done.
I'm at lost at what to do.
I've screenshots of our conversations where she told me to wait 7 days to repeat the urinalysis, and I'm in a mind to send that to her as proof (she has a tendency to contradict herself, this is not the first time we've argued because of it), but I also don't wanna be too feisty... :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Does he get UTIs often?

Not really, but he had one at the moment of diagnosis. We treated that for two weeks, I believe. I repeated the test (6 days after antibiotics because he showed symptoms), but it came out negative.
This is the second one he's had since diagnosed.

PMPS 360.

I talked to my vet and told her that I couldn't take Nao to the clinic tomorrow because I'm short of money. I could take him maybe on Monday but I'm not sure yet if I should, I don't want to put him through that stress.

She told me the test wasn't 100% necessary, more like a 50%. So if symptoms reappear I'll take him. If not, I'll think about when to recheck or not.
