Morning LL!! Moonie was up & about today, eating well, very happy--She must have had a good time at the party last night, and today is Baby's party!!! All our good friends off to the Falls, and here we are, minding the store- :YMSIGH: :YMSIGH: Sigh!
We are glad they all still visit--
Moonie seems quite well & legs seem better--I am debating whether to start Dasuquin, or continue on Cosequin...If anyone has experiences with this, please let me know..Actually, the dose for cats over 10lbs is 2 capsules, which I do split between their dishes..
Maybe Moonie herself needs more?
OT--went to the fair, bought this ladybug wind spinner hoping it woukd scare off pigeons near our birdfeeders with the wing movement--
HA HA haha_smiley haha_smiley haha_smiley There they are all gathered around it, on either side--uncaring--Just like the owl with the moving head-they accepted it as one of their flock...I CANT BEAT THEM--ARRRGGHHH!!!
hAVE A GREAT tUESDAY--HUGS!!!!

Re: 5/4 Moonie AMPS 192

Please don't get discouraged, Roni....I know you would really love for Moonie to be OTJ and it can be pretty discouraging to see the newer kitties get their OTJ party. Her day will come or it may not but in the meantime, try to remember that you need to be happy in the fact that Moonie is feeling so much better than she was before she started insulin. If I'm not mistaken.....I did see a greenie in her ss a few days ago, so she's getting there....she's just taking her good old sweet time, like a princess should

I don't have any experience with any of the suppliments you mentioned, so I can't help you there. I used the M B-12 on Spot for the neuropathy. However, my vet did suggest the cosequin as a suppliment the last time we were there, just because Spot is "getting up there" in age.

Oh, those nasty pigeons!! We have TONS of those nasty buggers here...along with those grackles and mourning doves. The only thing that stops them from going to my bird feeder is the drooler. She just can't stand those big birds in the feeder. The smaller ones, she doesn't mind at all. She has learned how to open the door so that she can get outside to chase them away from the feeder. Unfortunately, she hasn't been able to master letting herself in, lol

I hope your day goes well today, and smile...we love you and Moonie...and if she wasn't around to mind the store, who would we get????

Re: 5/4 Moonie AMPS 192

Hi Moonie & Roni! Stu will be around to help mind the store!! Yes, it's a grand day for a walk along the ocean. You must get out and do that. I grew up on L.I. (in Floral Park) and my parents loved the beach, so we often went to Point Lookout in the late afternoon and took sandwiches (my father would take the train there after work and meet us at the beach). Lovely, golden late afternoons and hardly any people, because they all went home for dinner.
Yeah, those pigeons are pesty, but as my DH used to say when they mobbed our feeder in Brooklyn: they're birds too!!! Nothing fazes them: they are survivors!!
Now, Stu is trying on his dancing shoes and looking over his wardrobe for Baby's party tonight. He's prepared the dinner already. He wants to PARTY with all his friends. He'll see Moonie there later. Have a great day!

Ella & Stu

Re: 5/4 Moonie AMPS 192

Hey Roni - all your good friends aren't gone - we are still here minding the store with you. The better news is that our 2 cats are doing well and are having good runs of decent numbers.

Regarding dasuquin - we use on Tuscany - have been for over a year. Truthfully, not sure if I saw much difference with the cosuquin vs dasuquin but I've got an old, sedate cat. I do think the adequan shots are helping some (see my entry in today's condo).

Hope you enjoy the nice day and do get time in for the walk on the boardwalk. Pigeons - send Moonie out after them :-D
Maybe Stu could make some pigeon pie for all of the cats.

Re: 5/4 Moonie AMPS 192,+5~119

HEY we will donate all our pigeons to the pigeon pie for tonite's party!!
No, I am so thankful for Moonie being well, I just Miss the cats & beans that go to the falls...
I'm fine being here & I know you guys are here too..May we all be in the Falls next year at this time- :thumbup :YMHUG: :thumbup
Moonie showed me a great sign today--She played with her sparkly ball today!!! Oh my heart was HAPPY, as she hasnt done that in quite a long time--SEE< I"M SMILING  :-D  :-D --Also is almost green today--It's a good day--Off to buy cat food & bean food,& cat birthday cake(It's Moonie & bro's birthday thursday & our anniversary) BIG HAPPY DAY!!!

Re: 5/4 Moonie AMPS 192,+5~119

Hey there Roni,

As you said- almost green and playing with her toy! Pedro hardly ever plays anymore and when he does it just makes me sooo happy.
Maybe Moonie needs a litle perch by the pigeon hang out. That might just scare them away. Anything I have ever bought to scare away pesky critters just seems to end up being a hangout for them. The exception has been a dog but don't think that that fits your need. It may be overkill (no pun intented).

Re: 5/4 Moonie AMPS 192,+5~119

Nice numbers today Miss Moonie! Tess seems to want to stick around with you too, so there's some more company for you. We just need to get to know all the new kitties that are arriving . Our old friends keep coming back too, so we;re not losing we're gaining!

Re: 5/4 Moonie AMPS 192,+5~119

Hi, Roni & Moonie too!! Baby expects to see Moonie at the party tonight, with the pigeons of course too haha_smiley
But even more importantly we expect to see her at The Falls soon tooooooooo!! (((Roni & Moonie))) I just love that Moonie is feeling better, playing.. her legs & just everything!! Come on Moonie... you can do this!!

Re: 5/4 Moonie AMPS 192,+5~119

Ooooh, almost in green for the party tonight, Moonie!

Buzz is still here minding the store, too, and she would like to become good friends with Moonie. I think they are off to a good start judging by the last party, so maybe tonight they will laugh together again. ;-)

Re: 5/4 Moonie AMPS 192,+5~119

Hi Roni and Moonie! Nice numbers today, glad to hear she is feeling well!!!! Don't worry Scrabble will still be around to off encouragement to all of his friends when he is at the falls (anti-jinx!) HOpe you have a happy Tuesday, thanks for always being there to cheer us on!!!

Re: 5/4 Moonie AMPS 192,+5~119

Ahh, almost green!!! Yea!!! And she was playing with her sparkly ball...even bigger Yea!!! Spot has never been a big player so it's so fun and cool to see him do it. I know exactly the feeling you got Roni...warms your heart so much it smiles!

Now, we get pigeon pie at the Party tonight yeehaa!!! I almost forgot about the party, thanks for the reminder in our condo.....got caught up in family drama, work stuff, and house work stuff. I was wondering what was going on with Spot...he kept walking to the door and back and when I put him out on his leash, he didn't want any of that!!! Well, I guess I better skedaddle and get Spot moving along in the right direction. Let Ms. Moonie know he's on his way!!!

Re: 5/4 Moonie AMPS 192,+5~119,PMPS 193

Out all day, came back & the Queen was sleeping on the bed stretched out! Happy & satisfied :-D

Never got to the Boardwalk because a giant thunderstorm washed over us...Still we have a nice canal on the next block, so I sat there for a bit, hoping to see the swans that come there to be fed!--No go, just some ducks & seagulls-
On the next block, is my house, pigeon, sparrow, grackle, finch, dove, mockingbird & cardinal world..Now all the birds will be dancing around the new spinner which is a ladybug with moving wings..supposed to scare the pigeons away cat(2)_steam
We lost 3 giant trees that housed these birds, so many moved into our blue spruce.
Moonie is on her way to the party, looking stunning in her blue lace--She'll be blue tonite for sure--Good thing, as she always comes home late--Be back later--Huggies!

Re: 5/4 Moonie AMPS 192,+5~119

Roni, Kitty sent me to your condo to give you a big hug for all your encouragement and support! :YMHUG: I hope to cheer you on in the same way. :RAHCAT

I've been wondering the same thing about the Cosequin and the Dasequin. My vet wasn't enthusiastic about giving Dasequin, but the Cosequin doesn't seem to make much of a difference.

Cassandra was very enthusiastic about Adequan. I'm interested to hear that Joyce finds it helpful.

Nice of you to buy a toy to entertain the pigeons, Roni!

... Could I Please buy that steps contraption for Moonie??? ...
Sorry, it's not far sale, but you can build your own or get someone to build one  Think dh only took a day to make it. (and a week to clean up ohmygod_smile)

Does Moonie have arthritis? Has vettybean taken x-rays to diagnose?

I give fish oil at pm meal, 8 drops of vitacoat by foster & smith-75mg omega 3--in each cat dish--and so far, cosequin--How much omega do you give her, & ever use Dasuquin?
She's up to a whole gel capsule of fish oil now, 15 drops twice a day. I think a whole softgel is 1,000 mg of fish oil; we use Nordic Naturals. Yes, we do use Dasuquin, 2 capsules a day. And Adequan too, once a week (which is more than most ppl give, but her vettybean ok'ed it). And she gets acupuncture, and now SAMe.

Re: 5/4 Moonie AMPS 192,+5~119

From one long-timer to another.....Punk's here minding the store too!!! But she's in the back room on a breakus.

Glad Moonie's legs are better.....what step contraption? I have mini steps for Punk so she can climb on the bed, she's getting up there.... both in age and weight, the steps are a great help since she can't jump up the way she used to.

Re: 5/4 Moonie AMPS 192,+5~119

Choy-Foong, has Meowzi been noticeably helped by the Adequan? My vet won't even prescribe it for a kitty, let alone in large amounts!

I would like some steps too... for Kitty, I mean. I have steps of my own. :-D

Re: 5/4 Moonie AMPS 192,+5~119

kathy, meowzi's gait became less stiff after the initial adequan loading period. it took her longer to respond than others, so i had began to doubt it would work, and then right after the loading period when vettybean said we could stop if she wasn't showing improvement, she seemed to walk better - more fluid, less stiff. so in her case, i think it's helped. there are other ppl on this board who've found it effective too.

it's off-label for cats, that may be why your vettybean won't prescribe it. but if he/she looks it up on VIN, i'm sure he/she will find lots of references to adequan and osteoarthritis. a VIN pharmacologist suggested it, and dasuquin, for meowzi, not knowing that she was already on both then.

Re: 5/4 Moonie AMPS 192,+5~119

Hi Roni,

Some of us never really leave...

I give Dasequin to my civvie. I think it helps a little but I'm not sure how much, really.

I hope Moonie has a wonderfully green day tomorrow!!

Moonie had a nice blue flat surf today, which is where she is most comfortable--I'd like it a little lower in the blues with a smidge of green.

Think I will try the Dasuquin, but will read first & YES Moonie had xrays at dx of her rt knee, which has floating kneecap(I saw it)--
I'm trying to save the big gun meds for when she gets older, as she will really need them, but would try Dasuquin, or increase the Cosequin & she is on methyl b12 for yrs. already.
My DH couldnt build a step stool  -NO REALLY!! I'm the carpenter, but that's too much-Saw a nice condo in the store with 3 steps up--wondering if it could help her--like 3 levels--Will see...$114!
Trying to do an early ni ni--still tired from weekend & DFIL is coming to NY this week--EEEEEKKKKKK!!! @-)
Not staying here I hope, but maybe a nite or 2(oh no say the cats)
Have lovely dreams, well health, & peaceful sleepus--Ni Ni & Hugs & hearts to all LL!! :YMHUG: :YMHUG: WHERE WOULD WE BE WITHOUT EACH OTHER???
