After his last test last night he was sitting at 197, this morning he was 330, I gave him .2u. Unfortunately I had to come to work so cannot test until I get home around 3pm. Should I stick with .2u for a few days to see how he does, if so how long? How will I know when to change the amount of insulin? I would really love to see those 300 numbers go away.

Just ny take...
The reduction may have been too much. It looks like he didn't go low enough last night that it would have caused this morning to be considered a bounce. I think if you see a 300 at PMPS you could consider going up. Maybe to .5?

I agree with Carl. Nancey, the only way we can figure this out is to try doses and look at the numbers. Not an exact science by any means, kinda frustrating and takes awhile. But the good news is that he is doing very well on small doses.

Someone said once this dance is a marathon, not a sprint. Annoyingly correct......

I will take Carl's suggestion, if he is at 300 on the PMPS then I will give him a .5 dose. I am happy he is doing well on a low dose. And Sue You are right it is frustrating, but dealing with the numbers and doses is the only way to do it.

I will post is PMPS when I get.

Thank you Carl and Sue for your help.

So looks like the .5u did better. At 4:00pm, roughly +11, he was 341. So I gave him some food and then gave him .5u, in all he has eaten about 1/3 of a can of food. At 11:00, +7, he was 196. So I think this is a good place to start the .2u I gave him this morning just didn't do much at all.

So going with the .5 sounds good to you all?

Sorry I missed it when you posted, but "yes"!
