Good afternoon,

thank you for all the suggestions yesterday to help Binie! I tried quite some of them and so far there was no need to bring her into the hospital.

Ketones went up again during the night from 0,2 mg/dl yesterday before the evening shot to 0,5 mg/dl today before the AMshot. Somehow I expected that because yesterday she had the transdermal infusion at the vet so the 0,2 mg/dl was due to that. At + 3,75 I did another test and it was 0,3 mg/dl which is also not surprising beause I gave her the full dose of 2,75 IU at shottime.

She has still low appetite and sometimes the only chance to get something into her is the high carb royal canin kibble. I cooked a chicken for her and made a kind of babyfood but so far she didn't touch it. At night I got up every 2,5 hours to make her drink something which was successful most of the times.

Unfortunately I am still not able to measure her temperature correctly. I didn't manage to do it rectal and the ear-scan gives me strange results, always below 38 C/100,4 F which means I did it wrong. But I think she still hast temperature as her ears are quite warm and she is searching for cold places. She is still not active at all but she reacts on me and she doesn't look like a very ill cat most of the time. Also her breathing is normal and not too fast. She pooped almost normal today which I took as good news.

I am a bit surprised that I don't see any effect of the antibiotics so far. She took it the first time on thursday afternoon and I thought there must be some effect by now. I still don't know in which direction this is going. I hope she improves or at least stays stable until monday, when she can get more infusions at the vet office. I dread going to the clinic so much becaue that means such a long ride for her and I read that waiting times are really long.

Hope you all have a relaxed saturday. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi (((Heike))), I continue to send you prayers and healing thoughts for sweet Binie. I know you must be so worried. You’re
Doing such a great job in caring for her. :bighug::bighug:
It’s good you are getting her hydrated. As Bron said, getting any food into her is key.
Have you tried baby food? I know they like the taste of that. (Ivy does at least).

Im hoping you don’t have to take her to the clinic if not necessary.

Keep posting so others with experience can help guide you here.
Big hugs to both of you :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

If she has a poor appetite, let her eat whatever she wants at the moment. That is ok. Eating something is more important than trying to stick to a low carb diet if she won’t eat it. Here is a link to information about HOW TO STIMULATE KITTYS APPETITE

Thank you for encouraging me! I felt a little bad to put all that nasty stuff inside her... I never thought that the stupid royal canin kibble is saving us....

Thank you so much Staci! :bighug::bighug::bighug: At the moment I feel a little happy because Binie is grooming herself. I think that is a good sign. I didn't try baby food so far. I looked it up in the supermarket a couple of weeks ago because I read it here (maybe in one of your posts) but in Germany it seems we have no "meat-only" baby food. It is always meat mixed with popatoes or pasta or rice. What kind of baby food do you use? I thought the chicken I made today with carrot is also kind of baby food. After cooking I made it in the blender with lots of broth. I read that some cats would kill for it but Binie is not interested. But anyhow, at the moment it seems stays like that at least I will get enough (junk) food inside her to give the full dose of insulin. I really hope the antibiotics kick in soon...whatever condition is bothering her.

Hope you have a relaxed evening and Ivy surfes in safe numbers! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hmmm. Seems odd that baby food isn’t just single ingredient there. I know different stages offer combinations of ingredients as you mentioned.

Here’s what I have used

I’m glad she was grooming herself today. Hoping that’s a good sign.
Wishing you a calm night and more good recovery for Binie :bighug::bighug::bighug:
