Good afternoon,
thank you for all the suggestions yesterday to help Binie! I tried quite some of them and so far there was no need to bring her into the hospital.
Ketones went up again during the night from 0,2 mg/dl yesterday before the evening shot to 0,5 mg/dl today before the AMshot. Somehow I expected that because yesterday she had the transdermal infusion at the vet so the 0,2 mg/dl was due to that. At + 3,75 I did another test and it was 0,3 mg/dl which is also not surprising beause I gave her the full dose of 2,75 IU at shottime.
She has still low appetite and sometimes the only chance to get something into her is the high carb royal canin kibble. I cooked a chicken for her and made a kind of babyfood but so far she didn't touch it. At night I got up every 2,5 hours to make her drink something which was successful most of the times.
Unfortunately I am still not able to measure her temperature correctly. I didn't manage to do it rectal and the ear-scan gives me strange results, always below 38 C/100,4 F which means I did it wrong. But I think she still hast temperature as her ears are quite warm and she is searching for cold places. She is still not active at all but she reacts on me and she doesn't look like a very ill cat most of the time. Also her breathing is normal and not too fast. She pooped almost normal today which I took as good news.
I am a bit surprised that I don't see any effect of the antibiotics so far. She took it the first time on thursday afternoon and I thought there must be some effect by now. I still don't know in which direction this is going. I hope she improves or at least stays stable until monday, when she can get more infusions at the vet office. I dread going to the clinic so much becaue that means such a long ride for her and I read that waiting times are really long.
Hope you all have a relaxed saturday.
