Wendy called it: an all night slide for the mighty Z! Appy is good this morning. Breffis was taken on the footstool, on the picnic table, and on the bed with sleeping Anne.

OT: I am scheduled to get a crown today but I think I will postpone as the tooth is still sore and I don't want too have to do something later through the crown. Plus I just don't think I'm ready for more novacaine yet. :-x

Thinking of ailing kitties and beans, especially Georgia's Simon (yay, he was eating last night!), Carla's Lucky (cottage cheese and flaxseed oil is a big hit :-D ), Jamie (sending mega pneumonia-be-gone vines). Must have been a wild OTJ party for Gobbles last night. No one is saying anything. Maybe just gearing up for Zoey's, coming soon. Happy Friday, LL!

Re: 5/31 Zener AMPS 114

Morning Liz and sleeping Anne  Very nice report on Zener, especially with the happy appy and breffifs stops winding up with sleeping Anne.
I don't blame you on the crown if you're still having pain/soreness, smart move.
Happy TGIF to all of you.
Thank you Detective Poo for checkng on me, Mags

Re: 5/31 Zener AMPS 114

Hi Liz. Real nice AMPS for Zener today. Looks like he has a trip to the Lagoon scheduled for today.

I wouldn't have the crown put on yet either if I was still having pain from the root canal. I wouldn't think a few extra days of waiting would make any difference.

Have a great day Liz (& Anne).

Nice green Zener! You are on a roll. Great news on the appy. We like a happy appy.

I don't blame you on the dental. Sounds painful and maybe you should hold off a few days.

Have a wonderful day all of you!

Re: 5/31 Zener AMPS 114;+2 68;+3 51;+4 57

Way to go Zener!!  Keep surfing safely today. Good to hear about happy appy. Any signs of him still feeling uncomfortable? I hope not.

Sorry your tooth is still sore Liz, sending some healing vines for it to go away quickly.

Re: 5/31 Zener AMPS 114;+2 68;+3 51;+4 57;+5 68

Liz is hard at work and the rest of us are being lazy. Thanks to all for stopping by to check on our guy and on Liz post root canal. We had our animal communicator check in with Zener about his poor appy and just being off and we got her report last night. She has been almost 100% on for everything we ask her about and this was what she got from Zener.

Zener says that he is having good days and bad days. He feels tired. the blood sugars have been in good control according to him. But i feel the diabetes is affecting the nerves. It is aggravating his already existing neurological problem. I dont feel pain from Zener. But sometimes his body doesnt respond as he would expect.
His poor appetite seems to be helped by the extra dose of medicine you gave him today. I do not sense any vomiting, diarrhea or abd pain. I dont sense pancreatitis. Instead, I feel his gastric paresis is acting up.
Zener loves you both so very much. He is tired of being sick. But i do not sense any strong desire to leave and be done with his life. He still has many moments of enjoyment and fun with you. He loves to play with some of the toys you make. Laze in the sun, watch the birds and observe the neighborhood.
We, of course, get very sad and teary when we hear he is tired of being sick, yet we are glad to know life still has many good moments. His appy fluctuations have often been tied in with poor motility all along, and regular dosing with Zantac helps. He does have a pre-existing neurological condition, cerebellar hypoplasia, and he has been more wobbly and falling more often. We thought it was his anal glands, as that often happens when he needs those expressed. But we had that done last week, there wasn't much in them, and his balance really didn't improve as it usually does. We added the cerenia to a daily dose for five days and we think that is the extra med Zener is referring to. He has not had any vomiting or diarrhea, and the discomfort in his abdomen is more like cramping which accompanies his spells of poor motility. So, we suspect it is the gastric paresis acting up as our AC suggests and not pancreatitis. We did not go pick up any bupe as it has a tendency to decrease his GI motility, which would only make things worse. And Liz is the extraordinary toy maker.

So that's the latest with the mighty Z. His appy is improved, and he seems to be feeling better in general. All 5 Ps are in place today. It's quite warm for us, near 80F, so neither kitty is very active this afternoon. And this bean is about join them and take a nap. I-) We are thinking of all our LL family in the path of storms again in the mid-US.

Re: 5/31 Zener AMPS 114;+2 68;+3 51;+4 57;+5 68 AC check in

Just a thought...

Given the combination of meds that Zener is taking, you might want to discuss whether there is any drug interaction that could be effecting Zener's neurological status. Your vet may need to contact a veterinary pharmacologist or go on line with VIN (Veterinary Information Network). There are pharmacologists on VIN. His gastric motility is probably linked to the way the nerves influence the movement of his GI track so the meds may be having other effects or interact with one another.

Nice numbers for Zener today. I'm glad he is feeling better overall and eating good today.

Liz, I don't blame you for postponing the crown. I hope your tooth is feeling better.

Thank you for this thought Sienne. I emailed our vet with all his current meds and dosage and ask her about possible interactions. If she doesn't know the answer, she will research it. So far, of all the med combinations we have tried, the only one that caused any problems was Reglan. It increased his tremors and our vet stopped it and switched to Cerenia tablets and Zantac. I'll post what we learn from our vet.

Beautiful numbers Zener!

How cool that you have an AC, and a vet open 7 days a week that you love.

Re: 5/31 Zener AMPS 114;+2 68;+3 51;+4 57;+5 68 AC check in

Hi guys,

I am thinking good thoughts that Zener will continue to be happily continuing his life with the family he loves. Your AC is amazing. Z Man is pretty amazing, too. He has a great surf in the lagoon going today.

Liz, are you sure that your dentist got all the roots? Sometimes there is an extra root that gets lost in the shuffle (that happened to me once). I think you did the right thing to postpone the crown. Edward sends you special root-canal vines and hopes that ultimately your experience will be as good as his was.

Have a good evening,

Hugs, scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Liz - I hope your tooth feels better soon. root canals = no fun
Anne - Hope you enjoyed some good cat napping with the kitties!
Tillie - keep looking after your mama beans and brother.
Zener - I'm sorry to hear that you're tired of being sick. But I'm happy to hear that you still enjoy life and your mama beans (and I feel certain that you really love Tillie, too!) Sending healing vines to you so that you start feeling better; and sending happy appy vines so that you're getting good nutrients in you. Scritches to you, big boy!

Re: 5/31 Zener PMPS 125 AC check in

Hi Liz and Anne,

I think your AC's report was amazing. I would love to do something like that with my civvie Jetzin - he doesn't have health issues but he has some emotional issues from a traumatic childhood and something that happend while he was . Do they come over to your house? How did you find out about them?

Liz - thanks for your visit last night. I did indeed get to go out to the band and have a lovely time. I snuck home and tested Angie while they were packing up. We went out for supper afterwards.

Mr Greener Zeener had some great numbers today. I'm sure that he feels all the love that you guys give him in care of his medical issues.

Grace

Re: 5/31 Zener PMPS 125 AC check in

A nice blue PMPS. Should we dare write it, was this a "normal" lantus cycle? Lots of bowl chasing this evening, so we added in a sliver of the cypro appy stimulant. We don't know why, but he always seems to feel better after getting this med, maybe it's the antihistamine properties, we really don't know. :? But we are so glad to see him feeling better about his fuds.

@carla - as our AC says, "he has good days and not so good days" and it's been that way since his diagnosis. He has more good days now than not so good ones, we have to remind ourselves how he was before we found LL!

@Cleo & Jane - he had a lovely AM cycle! We feel pretty lucky to have a full on animal hospital in our small town.

@Ella & Rusty - our AC is amazing. Her other job is a nurse for beans, so she is pretty good with all the medical information and meds. Our boy works so hard to do everything we ask of him, and most days, he takes everything in stride. We do realize he is tired of not feeling good. I'll pass the extra root story along to Liz, oh good grief.  :?

@Deborah & Shasta - I never did get a cat nap, got busy with cutting up meds and organizing things for my trip. TT is the queen of everything (QOE) and we are but her humble servants. Our AC told us that Tillie was worried about Zener because he was part of her domain and she likes all of her family to be together and happy. Awwww...

@Grace - we loved having a greener Zener today, especially since he had decent appy. We first used our AC quite a few years ago when Liz was going to be away for an academic year on sabbatical. She lived in our town then and come to meet the cats in person. I think she came to our house twice over a few years. She moved away but she can communicate with animals from a distance. It helps if she has met them before, but if not, she usually asks for a picture. We found out about her from a friend who had used her for some animal behavior issues. I don't have her contact info on website, but Liz does. If you want the info, please send a PM and I'll alert Liz to send the info to you.

Wishing everyone in LL a calm and drama free Friday evening. :YMHUG:
