She flinched when I gave her insulin this morning and the needle came out bent when I pulled it out. It all happened so fast so I don't know exactly what caused it but I think she moved slightly as I put the needle in. I don't think I hit muscle but it's possible so I will probably test her at +2 just in case she's dropping fast.

A very early blue today. It does make me a bit more concerned that I did a muscle shot. It's also possible that I didn't have the bevel up like I usually do and that's why she flinched. I was running a little behind today so I went through everything more quickly than usual.

    EDIT:

The vet just called. Still no results on the lymph node sample they took but they did talk to the vet who did the surgery. She will be in town again this Wednesday and is going to do a follow up and a new set of x-rays on Tessa to see if anything was missed.

I'm going to ask if there's anything they can do about her bottom canine hitting her upper lip since that may be what is causing that spot on her lip. They'll be able to get a better look at everything with her under anesthesia so maybe they can figure something out.

Now that I have the whole day's data, I don't think I hit the muscle. The numbers look similar to yesterday.

I took my time doing her PM shot and she did move around a little bit before I gave her the shot so I think what happened this morning was that she moved as the needle went in and it probably dragged a little bit. I always shoot while she's eating and normally she stands in the same spot and doesn't move. Today she shifted around a lot. It might be related to her mouth, like she's trying to get at a better angle to eat comfortably. She eats out of a 5 compartment automatic feeder and the openings are somewhat small. I also own the 3 compartment one that has larger openings but I don't use it because they don't make stainless steel inserts for it and she gets acne quickly if she eats out of plastic.
