Purrdy motoring along nicely so he avoided church again this morning, sooner or later he's going to be there signing the hymns ;)

Vyktor vet visit part 2 - from what he could see of Vyktor's mouth during his hisses the vet says it is definitely no worse and he thinks the front areas do look somewhat improved, he couldn't see the back as well. His mouth is still very ulcerated though. The vet was keen to give another course of ABs but since he couldn't smell any infection I preferred just to keep going as we are and give the Plaque Off more time to do its thing (we're about 3 1/2 weeks in now). His eating has been up and down but the up days where he eats by himself are very encouraging. Overall he has been getting more food with just a few off days. At my request the vet has added a note to his file allowing me to pick up a low dose of bupe without a revisit. I only plan to do that if we have two days of under 200g of food in a row. It's great to have a vet that works with me :cat: he had a vet student in on our consult too so hopefully she will start her career realising that it's okay to work with the bean and not feel the need to play God!

@Bron and Sheba - there's no way anyone will be winning Vyktor over at the vets, he hates them all. He's been getting worse too as he does actually try to attack them whenever they get close now whereas it used to be mostly noise. The vet gets concerned about him because he gets himself in such a tizz that he starts turning blue :eek::eek:

There's no weighing him in his carrier either because he doesn't have one. I just pop a lead on him. He's very good in the car and will just sit on the drivers lap - except on the way home when he's mad at me too - luckily he's only got the three teeth left because he will attack me o_O

I hope Purrdy keeps sliding down to green. I'm glad Vyktor's mouth isn't any worse. I hope the Plaque Off is helping. Poor Vyktor getting so stressed at the vet.

Poor Vyktor....he sounds as if he is scared out of his wits and deals with it by being aggressive towards those he is afraid of........we had a dog like that who was a sweetheart but she had been mistreated as a pup....she was a rescue.......and she was aggressive when afraid. She went to an animal behaviouralist to modify her behaviour and went onto tablets which made her feel less threatened. She improved but was never 'normal' around strangers. She adored her family and those she knew. Not saying Vyktor is like that at all! ..........just saying animals can be feisty and aggressive when they are afraid. I think Vyktor sounds a sweetheart! Vines for his mouth

@Bron and Sheba you are quite right, he was okay at the vet until he had a bad experience with a moron trying to give him his vaccinations. He just kept trying to poke him - 5 times in quick succession without anyone holding him. It took me that long to get my jaw off the floor and tell him to wait until I could hold Vyktor still

@Wendy&Neko - yes she did serve it up, she just cut off the bit that had cat saliva on it

@pollydoodle - here is part 2! Vyktor has the red flag too  but he's not handling his sedations as well as he used to so we avoid the vet having to examine him at all unless it's vital. Luckily he is good at home (except with pills) so I can take care of a lot of things myself. I know it's common on the board but the vet nurses here are still astounded when I just go in to pick up a needle to take home and give and the one nearly fell off her chair when she found out that I administered suppositories at home!

What a moron! Who would try and give a strange cat an injection without having someone help......especially if you were there! Poor Vyktor.....
A lot of the training we did with Georgie (the dog) was by exposing her bit by bit to the things she feared. I used to take her every afternoon and sit outside the local shopping centre so she was exposed to noise and crowds while reassuring her it was OK and she did get much better at that. She used to hate men in hats. And kids that suddenly ran fast and were noisy...not our kids...strangers.
