Yesterday's Loose Lips

Good morning!! We finally got some pictures of the hummingbird babies. The mom made a nest on one of my little hanging baubles on our patio. Here are the babies!! They are getting really big and have feathers on their wings now.

Those birds are freakin adorable!

Does anyone know if callie mae will be getting an OTJ party? They are from the PZI forum, and I believe tomorrow will be day 14 that totallybeachin has gone without needing to give callie mae a shot. They are the pair who came into the health forum originally being told to up it to 9 units by their vet a little over a month ago.

Oh wow!!! What breed are they? They look to be Ruby Throats. I'm feeding Rubies right now. :) I love them, and enjoy watching them, even if they fight a lot over the nectar. LOL

hi cherie - as far as i know each forum does their own thing - i hope they celebrate their OTJ's on the PZI forum as well! that would be nice.

the hummingbirds look like chunky toddlers in a too-small bucket! sorta like that photographer that takes pics of babies looking like little cabbages! that is a tiny nest - and they are adorable.

it's back to cold and rainy here - and i just spotted a hummingbird at the fuschia outside as well. grabbed the camera but it's already gone. i need to id that one - i see it a lot. brown belly. might be a rufous hummingbird.

the oven repair people are coming this afternoon - it was only installed in december and they've been here 4 times now, i think. the fan sounds like an airplane engine ready to take off. last week when i called i asked at what point we call this a lemon and replace it. they already replaced the motor once.

i woke up at 4am worried about my foster daughter. she's 19, been in an apt since aug 1 and is on quite the downward spiral. her rent is due tomorrow, she got fired 2 weeks ago from her 5hr/week job, she obstinantly refuses to do the things we've encouraged her to do to help herself . . . . she's lied to us (for several weeks about going to college) and stolen from us, and after tricking us into paying her rent in march, we're done giving her any money. we also told her she couldn't move back here in an effort to make her stand up and help herself. she wants to be taken care of, but we aren't willing to take care of another adult. of course, her story is a long one and i won't go into all of it, but although i know the "right" thing to do is make her take the consequences of her poor choices, i'm just so sad about the whole thing.

what a sweet picture! I also hope the pzi forum celebrates a cat going OTJ ... it's such a nice thing to do ..

Julie, I am sorry you are going through so much with your foster daughter .. I'm sure it's hard to see her doing these things, hopefully one day she realizes what she needs to do and then does it ...

just want to say hi devon - now that mocha doesn't have a condo (a YAY and a boo-hoo) it's nice to be able to come here and say hi to you. how's mocha doing? how're you and the hubby?

i think it was a rufous hummingbird.

LMAO.

The pics of the babies absolutely made my day. I've never seen a hummingbird nest before let alone babies. Their eggs must be the size of peas.

Julie I'm sorry your foster daughter is making things difficult for herself. But you bailing her out will not teach her responsibility. Common sense can't be taught. You can be there if she needs a hug, company, moral support and kind words also. She is lucky you haven't totally shut down all lines of communication - her behaviour crossed a line.

Glad you all liked the babies. They are really developing personalities. Yes, their eggs are tiny, tiny....hard to believe!! And yes they do look like toddlers in a bucket. It's amazing how fast they have grown. I think another week and they will be off on their own!

Marjorie your back yard must look like a wildlife preserve.

can you sell tickets to that?
