Yesterday's Condo

I figured it was time to stop perpetuating yesterday's condo and get today's going! Sorry - it's raceday, so I wasn't able to concentrate enough to do this till now.

Cinco is giving me a lovely green surf today, and I am thrilled to my toes. Dosecrease threat is not totally forgotten, but on the back burner for now. :D Proving that he is, indeed, the smart cat I thought him (and maybe has a either a short temper or a wicked sense of humor), he used the big, too tall litter box at least twice early this morning! I left the second one in place, as insurance.

@Anne & Zener (GA) Liz, I have considered getting a plastic box and cutting the opening, but then how do you keep the cat from getting cut on the sharp edges? Beng blind, Cinco would definitely be at risk from that. The super giant box we have works perfectly for him, EXCEPT when he has to wear the e-collar. Making a box would probably not solve the problem - we'd have to make the opening so big to accommodate the e-collar that he would be guaranteed to pee out it. He tends to get in the box and stop and let loose as soon as all four feet are in, so his butt would be toward the opening.

I was holding my breath this morning when I presented Minka with her breakfast. She didn't want anything to do with it. :( I didn't panic, but went and got another option and she CPCd it!!!!! :):):) Of course, I only had one small can of the flavor she liked, so now I need to high tail it to Petco before it closes and get some more. I had enough to give her seconds, though, and she ate those, too.

No one else was excited about this morning's entree, either. It was Dave's Chicken and Whitefish. They've had it a bunch of times but I've noticed it has been less and less well received lately. Good thing I only have a couple of cans left. Sasha and Cinco ate theirs with plenty of FD salmon on top. Harvey waited a good hour or so before deciding he wasn't going to get anything else, and then he ate his. ;):joyful: Guess it's off the playlist for now.

It's back to bowling again tomorrow night and now I'm already worrying about what to do with Cinco while we're gone - he can't eat out of the automatic feeder with his collar on. I guess, if he's in the mid to low 100s at PMPS I'll have to consider staying home. :( I'm in severe withdrawal for my garlic pretzel bites, since Mark was gone on bowling night two weeks ago so I didn't go, and we didn't have bowling on Memorial Day! For the millionth time, I wish we lived closer to Sacramento!

I hope you are all having an awesome Sunday.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans, especially Carla & Callie and Georgia & Simon. :bighug: Special prayers for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF, DH and DGD, Marje's DM, Chris' DM and Elise's DM.

what a perfect surf for Cinco today!

I think you can sand plastic edges, can't you? It might be something that you could try to get rid of the rough edges. Or cover it with duct tape, but that might get icky.

Skooter is a larger framed cat, and or the longest time I was not able to find a box he could stand in, let alone go in.

So I would get the like the 18 gallon totes and cut a hole in one side, and yes, duct tape was my friend. It actually didn't get icky at all and it kept him from hurting himself. I would replace it like once a year if that.....

Hi Tricia,
I'm finally getting organized again and checking out the board.
Rusty is really glad that Cinco and China are monitoring the lagoon. He hopes to be back soon.
Good luck with your new fuds search. Of course, the gang won't like it when you get more of it!
Sorry to read that Cinco is back in the CONE! I went back to your last few condos, but couldn't find out exactly why. Is it his ears? I hope he can get rid of it soon. And I hope you find a good lb solution.

Have a fine evening and enjoy bowling tomorrow evening,

Ella & Rusty

Wow. It may have taken some "frosting" but everyone ate! How nice.

No box advice. Consider that for over 13 years I had two boys who refused to use the box for liquid waste...throw rugs, pee pads. And lots of frustration. So Cinco, keep working at getting your butt all the way in the box, ok?

Oh, and Cinco...tomorrow's Monday. DaBean needs those pretzel thingies. See what you can do.

Marilyn and Polly

I'm so sorry to hear that Cinco has to wear the cone again- but he sure had himself a beautiful surf today- go big fella!! I hope things work out for tomorrow night, it would be a shame for you to miss bowling! Sending tons more vines for your babies to eat their fuds! Although, it seems this time of the year, lots of kitties seem to be going off their food, Tiger included. Hope you're sitting on your deck with a glass of wine and some great gourmet meal Tricia, you deserve it! :bighug::bighug:

I hope the aloe Vera works for him and the collar can come off soon. I'll be making Vyktors plastic tub lb today - he reminded me to get a move on this morning by hanging his butt over the edge to pee  but I can see that's probably not the best option for Cinco with his collar. I was thinking you could cut the entrance thinner at the bottom but wider at the top to accomodate the collar but that would probably be a bit difficult for him to negotiate o_O hope you get your pretzels tonight. Maybe you could take Cinco on a road trip if his numbers don't permit leaving him home alone?

I recall it was duct tape for those edges... At least you can get some fun prints now . I recommend the star wars duct tape at amazon. :p
Use the force, Cinco!

One of our boxes is a rubbermaid-type box, meant for storage, i suppose. But it was nice and big, as well as low-ish to the ground, so I got it for punkin cuz it was easy-in and out and I thought it might be easy on his joints. Not sure if that would work for you, but it's an idea.

Ahh, both preshots in blue. Now that's what I'm talking about!

Thanks for stopping by, Julie, Molly, Ella, Marilyn, Ruth, Serryn and Rhiannon.

I only bought six more cans, so hopefully Minka will keep liking it. I just served it for dinner and everyone ate (although Sasha did need a little FD salmon for the second half)! Minka CPCd again!!! :):):)

@Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA), Cinco has two hotspots, near his hind legs. We had him in a soft collar for the first one, and he couldn't reach it, so he started on another area further back. So now my little contortionist is in the big plastic collar we had to put on him after his last eye surgery when he had a hotspot on his leg from the pain patch. I'm hoping that when he goes to UCD on Wed for his Oncology checkup, they can help me figure out what is causing these. Maybe they'll bring in a dermatologist - it's one of the benefits of going to at teaching hospital that they just grab whatever specialist they need for an opinion. That huge collar presents multiple challenges, the toughest one so far being getting into the litter box. The solution I found for feeding him the last time is working great and I've ordered a couple more of the elevated dishes so he can reach his water more easily and I'll have one as a spare. BTW, Cinco has been trying hard to do Rusty proud in the lagoon, despite my hampering him by throwing in a couple of reducies.

I'm hoping that my current configuration of the lbs will get Cinco through this incidence of hotspots without my having to buy and/or make something new. Paws crossed, it should only last a couple of weeks. As I mentioned before, he normally does very well with the ginormous litter box he already has. If it does come to that, though, I could reuse the home-made one later for Sasha, as she has a challenge getting into and out of the box, but needs the high sides as her burying technique includes throwing litter over the sides. Thanks for the tips, @MollynSkooter

@Vyktors Mum, Cinco doesn't travel well, so it wouldn't be in his best interests to take him along - it's a little over an hour each way, and we're in there for around two hours. I'm not going to worry about it yet. We'll just have to wait and see how he does tomorrow.

@Tiger and Ruth, we get summer appies here, too. Right now we're having unseasonably cool weather (which I'm loving, but the tomato plants not so much), and the appies seem to have picked up somewhat (anti-jinx).

Well, I gotta make a quick grocery run and get dinner started. Not a gourmet meal, unfortunately - the last of the leftover ribs with roasted potatoes and corn on the cob (hopefully - if the store isn't out). But there will most definitely be wine! ;)

I see the dosecrease threat is working it's usual magic!!

OK now Cinco....China really appreciates having help down at the lagoon, but she's already had to swim out once to rescue Sheba...it would look bad if she had to swim out again to rescue you!

Quite the drop there Cinco! :D Time for surfing please!

I found this product for hot spots when I was looking at their raw food. I know someone who gets some of their other products and they are good quality. Just another option if the Aloe doesn't work.

I've recently become a fan of the 18 hour cycles. It's always an option for tomorrow if the garlic pretzels are demanding a visit. ;)

Uh, China? We might just need your help. Cinco! You get back here right now! Leave those mermaids alone!

Thanks, Wendy. We've done the 18 hour thing before. I really hate the idea of messing with his schedule. Don't want to kill the momentum. I can have Mark bring me some bites from the bowling alley and reheat them in the microwave. Not as good, but better than nothing. And better than leaving Cinco if he's going to go low.

Thanks for the visit early this morning. I was in bed but it looks like Max had different ideas. I see that 47 last night that brought about the yellow this morning. Maybe you will get to go bowling. I had to reschedule my spin class only to find I could have gone. I'm hoping Cinco doesn't tease you like Max did.

What we go through for the furkids! Nice to see that surf after the mermaid visit though, I hope you get to have your pretzle bites tonight! (Even if it does mean Cinco is out of the Lagoon.

Yo! Cinco! We is having a Dunes Party! The marine layer is gone, the buggies almost ready and Emma and Lola are on the way w/ the bus.
