Happy Fursday, LL! Zener's appy is very, very happy this morning. :-D :-D Thank you for the many, many appy vines last night! They are greatly appreciated and Zener put them to good use. Phew! He also put that 0.5 mg dose of cypro to good use too. We usually can give 0.125 mg to get him to eat. That is 1/32 of pill vs. the 1/8 we gave him last night. But his appy was so poor and had given him cypro the previous two cycles without much effect, we decided to go with a higher dose. All food was eaten on the footstool this morning, no bowl chasing at all. No yard patrol or picnic or breffis in bed.  He is napping on the bed with sleeping Anne now. We are still considering whether this is pancreatitis. Will watch closely today.

Thinking of ailing kitties and beans: Georgia's Simon (eat yer fuds, buddy!), Carla's Lucky, and Jamie. Congrats to Gobbles and Kat: OTJ today!  And paws crossed for Zoey's OTJ trial. He is totally green after Sienne's suggestion to feed a little at +9.  Woohoo!!!
Liz

Re: 5/30 Zener AMPS 281

Nice sunny start for Zener today and WOOHOO for a good appy. Way to go big guy! Healing vines that it is a passing thing and not the dreaded "P". Have a great day!

Re: 5/30 Zener AMPS 281

YAY...I've been anxiously awaiting Zener's condo, and I am so happy and relieved to hear about his Happy Appy today! Good boy, Zener....keep eating those fuds!!!

Re: 5/30 Zener AMPS 281

Yay for a happy Zener appy and feeling better. :-D I pray no pancreatitis. Question for LizBeanEngineer, how do you divide 1/32 of a pill? :? Have a great day.

Re: 5/30 Zener AMPS 281

Good to hear that the appy is back. Just got done w/ that for Emma too, it's worrying even if they aren't FD! Good question on the Pancreatitis, we're wondering if that was what was bothering Tess last month too.

You get to go to Denmark, Anne? Lucky you! I spent a semester there during college. Loved it!

Re: 5/30 Zener AMPS 281;+2 285

So happy Zener is eating today, getting worried here. No bowls chasing either is great. Now we just need a little surfing. We even take blue here.

Have a great day!

Re: 5/30 Zener AMPS 281;+2 285

The plumber was back today installing our other new human litter box, sweet! The kitties darted under the bed. Zener stayed there whole time (with a snack delivered for under the bed eating) and Tillie came out while he was still here. :o She was very brave! Zener is outside now, napping in one of his favorite outdoor summer spots.

We contacted our vet by email this morning with a thorough description of Zener's latest symptoms and behavior. She replied back within two hours. Have we ever written here how much we like our vet? :YMHUG: She thought it was possible it could be a pancreatitis flare, though in the past when he has similar episodes and we have run the tests (both tests), the results have always been negative. Since we are doing all the recommended treatment with the exception of fluids and bupe, she put a note in his chart at the clinic that if we call requesting bupe they will prepare it for us to pick up. She felt as long as he was eating some (and we put lots of water on his fuds) and his drinking, peeing etc remained stable, she did not feel it necessary for him to have fluids or come in for an exam or for us to spend the $$$ on the tests. We are to watch him as we always do, and let her know if he changes any and if worse, she will have us bring him to the clinic. They are open 7 days a week with walk in and emergency care. He is definitely feeling better today and eating better.

@Melissa & Mr T - we love happy appy, even if chemically induced! ;-) Paws are crossed it is just a passing thing.

@Amy & TrixieCat - awww, that's so sweet you were awaiting Z's condo, we all thank you!

@Ann & Maggie - we have paws crossed it's not pancreatitis. Our vet thinks it is possible, so we proceed to manage as such, but we are not running the tests right now. Liz, the engineer, is out running so I will describe our technique, but not in engineer type detail. We take the 4mg tablet and cut into quarters (1mg each). Then cut the quarters in half (0.5mg each), then we cut those tiny pieces in half (0.25mg) and by then, it is mostly small slivers, so Liz guestimates the slivers are 1/32 of a 4mg tablet. That is too many numbers for me, now I feel a bit queasy.

@Ann & Tess - the appy is back for now, but it can disappear in the blink of an eye, so we try to live in the moment. I will be in Odense Denmark for the wheelchair sports event, about 90 minutes west from Copenhagen in the area called Funen. I'll spend two days in Copenhagen before flying home.

@Cleo & Jane - we are so relieved, for the moment! nailbite_smile

@Doreen & PeePee - there is nothing worse than no appy. A little bowl chasing after his AMPS meal, but he is eating. Looks like the 1/2 dose is catching up to us today.

Thanks everyone for visiting Zener's condo and sending appy vines. We are all feeling better today. cat_pet_icon

Re: 5/30 Zener AMPS 281;+2 285;+6 324

I'm glad Zener has a happy appy today. I hope it is not pancreatitis, but that whatever it is, Zener will get better quickly.

Thanks for thinking of Lucky. I saw Lucky's name in Zener's condo before, but wasn't sure if it was my Lucky or the Lucky on the board. Lucky has been feeling better the last couple of days since I started giving him the cottage cheese and flaxseed oil. Maybe it is helping him feel better. Paws crossed.

Re: 5/30 Zener AMPS 281;+2 285;+6 324

Hi Anne, so glad you were able to reach the Vet via E-mail. Wow, can you clone her? She's amazing and open seven days a week. It's nice you can get questions answered via E-mail. Glad Zener is feeling better.
Oh my  thanks for explaining how LizBeanEngineer does the 1/32 of a 4 mg pill. I thought I had it bad trying to divide a pill into 1/10ths.

Re: 5/30 Zener AMPS 281;+2 285;+6 324

I'm glad to hear that Z-man is feeling a little better and sending many anti-P vines.

Yeah, slicing pills gets really frustrating! You know it's bad when you know how much of a dose the dust on your finger is  ohmygod_smile

Re: 5/30 Zener PMPS 283

The Z Man eats his fuds!! Yay! :-D :-D
You are so lucky to have such a great vet. I hope Zener doesn't have the pancreatitis, but it is always good to be watchful. Sounds like he had a good day.

Here's to a fine evening, too.

Re: 5/30 Zener PMPS 283

I am so happy to see that Zener is eating today. I hope he keeps it up. Simon is also eating his fuds today so all the appy vines must be working! I hope tomorrow continues to be a good appy day for both of our boys.

Re: 5/30 Zener PMPS 283

A little drop at PMPS from that stinky pinky at +6. We feel fortunate his numbers weren't higher with all those greens and then half a dose last night. Zener climbed up on his footstool at PMPS and ate his fuds very well. He seemed to be feeling better as the day has gone on. We upped the cerenia tablets to daily for a few days (from our usual 3x/wk) to see if that is helpful. No appy stimulant needed tonight.

@carla - thank you for thinking of the mighty Z today. All his LL family sending vines is sure helping. Liz is the best about following condos so it was her who mentioned Lucky. She always signs the condos she writes "Liz" and I just use the Anne & Zener signature. Cottage cheese and flaxseed sounds so very healthy, it must be helping! :-D

@Ann & Maggie - isn't that great our vet will communicate by email? I'll tell her next time we are there that people on LL want to clone her. She will love it. :-D It is the largest vet practice in town and a regular animal hospital with emergency care, urgent care and 24 hour nursing staff. There are six vets who work there, and our vet is the owner. We feel so lucky to have this level of care available in our small town. Glad you enjoyed my description of the pill cutting!

@Lisa & Leo - the mighty Z is feeling better tonight, the extra cerenia seems to be helping. :thumbup BWAHAHAHA on "how much of a dose is the dust on your finger", so true!

@Ella & Rusty - we feel very lucky to have found such a great vet in our small town. Liz asked our animal communicator to check in with Zener and Tillie today, so we are waiting to hear from her what the kitties have to say.

@Georgia & Simon - hooray for Simon eating his fuds! Appy vines for all!

Hoping all in LL have a calm and drama free Fursday evening. :YMHUG:

Slow Zener slide tonight? Paws crossed he's back on track after than dose reduction. I'm so glad to hear he's got a happy appy again. :-D You must have a good pill cutter too.

I'll take one of your vet clones. I can email my vet staff, but not the vet. However I can email the IM vetty at CSU and get a response. Get with it folks, email is here to stay!
