5/29 RECAP:
• AMPS~321, fed 3/4oz.,.25u
• +9~229, fed 1/4oz.
• PMPS~141, fed 3/4oz., .25u
• +2~84, fed 3/4oz. + 1/4oz. 8%
• +3~88
• +4~106, fed 1/2oz.
• +6~158, fed 1/2oz.
• +9~209, fed 1/4oz.

Good Morning LL! AMPS was 262 and +2 is 216. Bouncing a little after those drops around PMPS last night. I was surprised at the drop for +9 to PMPS.

WCR Very hungry kitty this am, walked over my head about 5 times to get me up. The last P in the LB is missing again, another skipped day.

I have be using this feeding schedule: preshot 3/4oz., +1~3/4oz., +3~1/2oz., +5~1/2oz. and +9 1/4oz., with tests before each meal except +1. Today I am trying even amounts at PS, +1, +2 and +3 plus the snack at +9. How will this effect the test numbers w/ only 1 hour since the last food?

Just found out family wants to come here! Got to clean!!!

Re: 5/30 Tess AMPS~262

I haven't found that it spikes Gabby's numbers except maybe at +1. If you look at Tess' curve, you'll have a sense of where the Lantus onset is. The food should help to offset too big of a drop from the insulin. I've also found with Gabby, if her numbers want to come down, they do so and they will often come down early. So for us, front loading the food balances the action of the Lantus. It really depends on what you are trying to do with the food.

Re: 5/30 Tess AMPS~262

Good Morning Ann. Good luck with the  and the family... love it - always happens to me. I finally gave up on the super clean... we now go moderate clean  Have fun with the family!

I find that there are similarities to a certain extent between Gabby and Mannie. I will be starting a different food approach - front loading as Sienne describes above - to see if we can level Mannie out, lessen the severity of the bungees and the cliff dives etc.. This morning he was high at 384, I have fed LC at +1, +2, +4, and we still are dropping quickly. Hopefully this will reduce the amount of the fall, level him out, reduce what bounce I know I will get. An experiment, trial and error, for a while here to see what works best. Guess we shall see.

Hope Tess has a good day! Mannie says HI!, and hopes to see her at Buzz's party.

I'd like to try this food approach more "scientifically", too. Just have to decide on the amounts (I think). Does "front loading" mean that you give most of the day's food toward the beginning of the cycle?
Enjoy your family party today.

Re: 5/30 Tess AMPS~262 +2~216 +3~179 +4~170

Nice descent today.

I had been spacing it out a little further apart because, A) Tess wouldn't eat every hour, B) her nadir was around +4 or +5 and she would get food a little closer to the nadir, C) I was wanting to see numbers less spiked by food. The schedule was PS, +1, +3 and +5 a little more the first two than the last two times, 3/4oz., 3/4oz., 1/2oz. and 1/2oz. Now I am going with 5/8oz. at PS, +1 +2 +3. We'll see how this works.

Tess is looking good today, Ann! Maybe she will be in green for the party tonight.

Good luck with the surprise family visit!

Hi Ann (Ella too)- check out my condo from 5/29 - Jill has a long post in there on how she approaches front loading. basically the bulk of the food per cycle is given during the first 4 hours, hence at the front, with little at the back. She explains it very well there.

Nice descent for Tess - lookin' good! Mannie says HI, and hopes she is on her way to the party.

very interesting food discussion in here. You have to experiment to find what works best for Tess. Some cats need food upfront to prevent fast drops, some benefit from a snack at +9 to try to stimulate the pancreas, but for some the +9 snack can be detrimental if it causes their PS number to spike. Trial and error is the only way to figure it out, I think. Good luck!
