Good Morning World! Welcome to our home! Last Condo

KT
AMPS 278

Not too bad of a number for Mr. KTKitty this morning - we're still working on finding the right dose of Levemir for him. He's feeling so much better and actually hungry in the mornings again. Most mornings now he wants dog food as long as it's Purina ground chicken. He'll eat about half a can of FFeast pate something then sit on the island waiting for 30-45 minutes until it's doggies turn for food. He has to have Sasha's bowl - it's NO different than anyone elses other than it's yellow instead of blue. It's happened so often lately that DH finally just put some on a saucer for him...he's decided that works too! We're still doing digestive enzymes, probiotics, zobaline and LLysine daily in baby food.

AMPS 350

Oh my BOUNCY boy!! WOOT WOOT!!! It's only taken a year to get to this point but we're finally seeing movement! He hit green in the middle of the night again causing a BIG bounce this morning! We'll work thru these bounces and hopefully stop them from being so drastic. I'll not try to hold him down in the double-digits, he's WAY WAY too hard to raise if he goes too low - like dragging a boulder out of quicksand. He doesn't like gravy anything, he doesn't like karo, he doesn't like nutri-cal - I have to syringe anything while he throws his head around trying to avoid it. His mouth is wide and shallow, hard to get things to STAY in there. He's also loving to play again!!! He feels GOOD!

In our last condo, I mentioned that 'Tanner' would probably stay...then realized I wasn't doing condos when he arrived. On April 30th while returning from leaving Snowshoe at vet with bowel obstruction, I noticed a beautiful red-tail hawk that suddenly swooped after prey - the PREY ran across the road in front of me. That 'prey' is a whole 7oz of tiny kitten scrambling, tumbling and running stopping on the roadside because that's as far as he could go. Honk scared away hawk, I just picked up kitty huddled there. I don't think he was even 6 weeks old - still has 'baby eyes' too. He's mostly white with orange ears, orange spot on his back and orange striped tail. Now, a month later, he walks well, he's learned to JUMP, he's almost 2 pounds and is one heck of a character. He's sharing the sunroom with Pepper and Lily but will probably move in here with the rest of 'the boys' when he settles down a bit. He's not much afraid of anything altho' is cautious.

LeoBeboKitty has FINALLY kicked his URI - he was one sick sick baby. Yesterday he and Dakota finally played together again. Sure was nice to see!

We were also blessed again - this time with 2 female 'Pibble' pups. They are about 6 months old and are just the sweetest babies, just love attention. Luckily one of our neighbor's took them - they just lost one of their elderly babies, the timing was perfect. The white one, LuLu, just loves for someone to scratch her head - she lays her head in your hand, shuts her eyes and licks your hand the whole time. You can tell she's just in Heaven. The other one, now 'Bessie', is brindle/white and just as sweet but is a fence jumper. They're both VERY smart, Bessie has learned that altho' she can jump the fence and get out, she's expected to stay on their property.

Snow's still working thru hard poopies but we're FINALLY now at the 'softer' part. There is one drug that will help with cat's motility, Cisapride, but the price has gone sky-high...$65/1 month. Can't do that...we'll continue with what we're doing.

All other fuzzy feetz are doing well. Warm weather is hard on DH's HKPP as sweat is one of his paralysis triggers...there's nothing that will help it so we'll just continue dancing albiet sometimes very slowly!!

If you're on Facebook, please take a minute to look at a site called "Pray for Makenna". Makenna Henry is 4 years old and currently beginning chemo/radiation treatment for cancer. She had a baseball size brain tumor removed on April 27th, the 29th she was out playing and running around! She's now in Houston at Children's hospital. She's from my hometown, kin to a lot of the people I went to school with and the niece of one of my close schoolmates. What the medical community is capable of these days is just amazing.

Thoughts and prayers to all that visit today!

BIG HUGS and YARD DANCES!!!!

Re: 5/30 KT AMPS 278 DAKOTA AMPS 350 Levemir, Babies & Bou

Hi Squeaky,

I really enjoyed reading your post, getting caught up on your gang. It was very fortunate that you came along when you did for Tanner. He's a very lucky kitty, as are all your pets. Not sure I know what pibble pups are but I am curious?

So glad that you're making progress with your sugar kitties and that they seem to be feeling better. It always so reassuring to see them eating and playing - sure signs of improvement.

I'm not on Facebook but it sounds like Makenna's story is miraculous. So nice to hear a good news story, particularly when a young child is involved.

I hope the warm weather isn't too brutal on DH's HKPP - I had to Google what that is as I've never heard of it before. Best wishes and healing vines to everyone - humans and pets - that need them at your home.

Take care and have a great day, Lyresa!

Anne

Re: 5/30 KT AMPS 278 DAKOTA AMPS 350 Levemir, Babies & Bou

Hi Lyresa,
OMG you have really been through the mill. I wondered why you hadn't posted in a while, and then read your post today and yesterday's. I'm very glad that the illnesses, the insulin reactions, etc, etc, are being resolved. Amazing on KT's reaction to Lantus. That was NOT a normal shed!!! Lev. is a totally different combination of ingredients and it looks like KT's body approves. Rusty is on Lev. and usually nadirs somewhere between + 7 and + 9. His onset is around + 4.5. I like the extra time Lev gives you: you can shoot low and know that the kitty has hours to go before onset in which to come up. Usually I don't even test before +4.5 or +5, but that's just me, and I know Rusty's ways.

Wow on rescuing Tanner from the hawk!! So glad that things are not quite so hectic at your house. I hope that your DH will have an easier time of it, too, and that you'll get some much needed rest.

Prayers and vines for Makenna.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Hi Lyresa:

I'm glad to read that Tanner is doing well. You did mention his rescue once in a post - I think it was around your birthday. Anyway, it's good to know he's thriving, which doesn't surprise me with you as the caregiver! :-D

I'm so glad to hear Dakota feels well and is seeing some green. Boo on the bounces, but I guess they go with the territory.

It's great that KT is doing better on the Lev. I didnt know that some kitties could have that kind of problem with Lantus. More info for the already overloaded memory banks!

Sending healing vines to all the inhabitants of your zoo - two and four legged! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Re: 5/30 KT AMPS 278 DAKOTA AMPS 350 Levemir, Babies & Bou

Hi Anne, Ella and Tricia!!! Thanks for your visits!

I had to grin...'Pibble Pups' - say 'Pit Bull' really fast and ignore what your brain immediately thinks. These 2 are 'pibbles' instead...and that name fits their silly, overly sweet puppy selves. I'm not a fan of Pits but they're getting a bad rap in today's world. These 2 don't have a mean bone in their bodies, they just want the same thing all others do - food and love. Bessie is laying over in her yard right now staring over here hoping one of us will come over and love on her. We don't let her in our yard, she understands and obeys it very well. I only pet her when she's on her property - all this part of trying to help her understand her boundries.

We've got the BIG RUN going on here! WOOT WOOT!!! Bebo is chasing Dakota one way, KT and Dakota run back with Bebo waiting down the hall. Dakota and Snow run back down, tag Bebo, Dakota and Bebo head back down the hall. As you see, Dakota is always the 'runner' today! WONDERFUL as he really needs the exercise. After all we've been thru the last 2 months, it's just SO amazing to watch...makes my heart sing!

YARD DANCE!!!

Re: 5/30 KT AMPS 278 DAKOTA AMPS 350 Levemir, Babies & Bou

Welcome back Lyressa! We've missed you! Wow have you and your guys been through a lot! Welcome to the Lev club. It will be interesting to see where KT's nadir settles. Tess is usually quite late, but it's way better than the +3 or4 she had on Lantus. I'd never heard of that problem w/ Lantus, but it makes sense w/ the way the Lantus depot works.

Tell Doc no more bouncies! Green is bootibul not scary!

Scritches and hugs to all you furbabies, hugs to you and DH.
